When life was simpler and JBC was the lone TV station. I miss 1980s Jamaica... naw lie.

These are the days when JBC sign off after international news highlights about 10 p m. A generation has almost passed since then. Beautiful old days tho.
And used to sign off at 12pm in the day then came back for evening cartoon and news.
It wakes me up.
Dear Jamaica... 😭❤
Can we please go back to this?
Feel really sad remember these I feel to cry
I remember visiting Jamaica during the summers and watching the one and only channel on the whole island. We had a small black and white TV in my grandmother's house. I was 7 yrs old in 84 and though I don't remember all of those ads, some look familiar. What I remember most was at night when the station signed off with the JA flag on screen and the national anthem. As soon as you hear that music, you knew that was it for the day for TV. I would be so disappointed. In the US, there were multiple channels and they were 24 hrs, plus we added cable to our TV, so that meant more channels. Certainly wasn't use to one channel and a sign off. Of course, times have changed, and JA surely have a number of channels and cable. That's great. I love the memories of those times in JA and I appreciate it today. Thanks so much for posting and allowing many of us to relieve those memories.
I teach college here in the USA.....I once told my students about growing up in Jamaica in those days....how we had only one channel and how the TV station would sign off at night and wouldn't sign on until the next evening......one of my students said that that's why I was so hard on them because I was traumatized as a youngster due to being deprived....I still get a laugh when I recall that conversation.....
I grew up with all of these commercials and programs. Take me wayyyy back.
Love this. Memories and pride in the quality standards portrayed
I grew up in California in the 70s and 80s so even though the products in the commercials were different the commercials themselves brought back memories especially the toothpaste commercials when they used to dip chalk in blue dye. lol
