    I always felt that I was supposed to take the club back low to be in to out. My best rounds for a long time felt like I was taking the club outside of the the ball to hit it straight. My interpretation of in to out always led me to shanking the ball as a result of being to far inside on the back swing which led to over the top and shank city. It hasn't been until I've learned that the club needs to be outside of the ball visually in order to have it drop from the inside. This video is outstanding in defining that and giving me the freedom to go more outside to get inside as the club drops. It's so simple once you know that your interpretation of the swing is so wrong. Best vid ever Brandon as you have struggled with the same inside takeaway I have.

    Probably the best Malaska video out there. A clarification of the 'Malaska Move'. The body leads and causes the club and arms to shallow. The correct loop. Direct the momentum of the club head. Great stuff!

      Took a lesson that showed how steep I am. Gave me a drill designed to bring the club from the inside. Didn’t address the real issue. That’s like having a bad infection and only taking something to stop the fever and not taking antibiotics to solve the real problem.

      @Jackybug Před 6 měsíci +1

      Does that mean that Mike’s other videos on the Malaska move aren’t accurate? What he is showing here definitely doesn’t look like the many videos I’ve seen of Mike demonstrating the Malaska move in my opinion. I’m a bit confused.

    • @biden-putin-stalin
      @biden-putin-stalin Před 6 měsíci

      @@Jackybug What is "The Malaska Move"? In my opinion, it's the movement of the upper right arm. In the backswing, from the address position, the upper right arm elevates away from the ground and throws the weight of the club over the right shoulder. He doesn't take the club back to the right with the arm, as that is done with the body pivot. As the upper arm pushes the golf club and whole arm up over the right shoulder, the weight of the club torques the upper arm to the right, external rotation of the upper right arm. The transition to the downswing is next. The upper right arm is lowered toward the right side, while the the external rotation of the right arm continues to a fully wound up torque as the upper arm approaches the right side. The downswing is next. The torqued upper arm is released, unwound, while the upper right arm now pushes up toward the strike of the ball and into the finish. So, right arm is pushed to the top as the club is elevated over the right shoulder, then the right arm is pulled down to the right side in the transition to the downswing plane, where the upper right arm then pushes through the strike of the ball and onto the finish. The Malaska Move is nothing new. It happens to be the correct arm action in a golf swing. So, the upper right arm is elevated, then lowered, then elevated again.

    Brandon if you watch Sam Snead or most of the old time golfers the takeaway was inside then a over the top inside not with your right shoulder over the top but your hands from the inside over the top and that causes the club to stand up like your hitting a baseball as Mike describes every shot will be either straight or a baby draw and massive power because the weight of the club is not falling back which causes shanks , blocks and flips as Mike described. Great video and the putting video with Mike to me was your best video ever ..CZcams Jackie Burke’s swing in to out ..and Jackie said the takeaway was in and up . Mike is right they all after impact went left and around and up then ..

    As a veteran swing coach, I have always found Mike Malaska's teaching method & methodology to be the most sound. Flat out. I always demonstrate how rotating the hips open ( to about 30 degrees ) gets your upper core in perfect position to then rotate through the initial arc. This is an easy move that happens with no effort. The unexpected, much welcomed surprise is that the head of the club is returning on the same plane as when first initiated, & who wouldn't rather a 2-plane swing? The arc is not as wide ( as the straight-down dropping of the handle positions the arc & right elbow closer to the body ) but the plane is the same.

    Brendon, I'm going to qualify this 1st by saying this is what I've experienced by working on Martin's one direction, I don't in anyway want to come off like I'm a know it all. The thing that I believe you and Lee are over looking is the pre wound pressures forward at setup. These pressures allow what appear to be opposing actions occur naturally not a contrived motion of trying to turn hands/knuckles in any way. I feel the best way he described the feeling goes way back in Martin's videos. He describes it as trying to strike a tree in the same spot with a stick. If you hold a golf club in the trigger position your body is pre wound forward. Now from that pre wound forward position imagine a tree in front you, pick a spot out on the tree and hit it. The spot is high on the tree so it will be more like an ax swing overhead not a golf swing motion. If you'll play around with this you'll discover what I feel Martin is prescribing. The spot on the tree ultimately becomes the ball on the ground. Your setup through feel allows you to find that spot.

    Mike. The Gem swing trainer that Brendan uses. This promotes a toe up position at club parallel in the backswing. You have said that this hurt your game and that the club face should be matching the spine or matching the arc so what looks like a more closed face at club parallel in the backswing is actually square to the arc. Before I pull the trigger on the Gem what do you think. Pros and cons. Thanks Mike. Adam

    Edited: Hi Brendon. Please pin my remarks to today’s video if you think it merits it.
    “Up to under to around to the left” is way too much to contemplate as one is swinging their golf club while at the same time they must also think of the timing, tempo and rythme it takes to pivoting their body from left to right back to left again.
    So there got to be an easier way to swing ones club. Right?
    So may I suggest to you and everyone who is reading this that they and you steer both your club and pivot your body simultaneously with your alternating hands working together back and forth?
    Why?
    Because our hands are the only direct connection we have to our golf club and our body and mind must act as the total vehicle that propels and drives our club head at tremendous speed and accuracy through our ball to the very finish of our swing
    How to swing with your cooperation alternating hands.
    So starting with a 50/50 weight distribution of your body on the ground; after you have aimed and gotten into your ideal golf posture; use your left hand to steer your club maximum counterclockwise to the top of your backswing as you are simultaneously feeling your body shifting 75 percent of your weight to your trail right side ; and, then to initiate your downswing use your right trail hand to steer your club sharply clockwise all the way to your finish of your swing as you are simultaneously feeling your body shifting 75 percent of your weight to your lead side. All the while you will absolutely stay in balance throughout your swing to the full completion of your swing.
    Swinging your club with the power of your alternating hands keeps your body in rotational balanced with no chasing after the ball replicates Percy Boomer’s timeless lesson of swinging inside a barrel.
    Our staying in balanced rotating body; shifting our body weight only 75 percent back and forth along with our cooperating alternating hands and oily reactive wrist controlling the direction of the club head moving on its path to our ball are altogether what creates the clockwise looping of the club head shallowing it down to its plane of action in its direction to and through our ball.
    After practicing this you may very well ask yourselves am I swinging the golf club or is the golf club swinging me.
    Final tip: At any point on your backswing your wish to change the direction of the club regardless of how hard or soft you wish your swing to be; simply apply a small amount of pressure with the small finger of your trail right hand. And wow! You will experience your trail elbow automatically falling into place along with an effective rotational golf swing for yourselves. And; no other lessons other then managing your play; will be required. Cheers 👍😃⛳️🥂
