8:40 😂 “I feel Dustin Johnson…”
“Well ok… Let’s talk” 😂 Well handled Mike. What a great teacher 👨🏫!
😂 that had me laughing
Brandon is like a dog seeing a squirrel.
This episode should be known as The Shaft Shank Redemption.
Starring Rock Huzle😎
Don’t be nasty
Brilliant 😀😀
The patience of Mike with Brendan over the years cannot be understated.
I would stop talking mid sentence and just look at Brendan, I would only carry on talking if I have his full attention
lol
@@jkdurden started reading then got bored
@@priesty1234 haha! It was TL:DR, but after reading your comment, I went back and read it. LOL!
Tough spot for both -Brendan, who needs new content each week and Mike who , wants to be kind enough to explore issues.
The best golf gems I learn are always from Mike. What a master of his craft!
I had the exact “shank” producing issue because I was obsessed with getting the shaft leaning forward at impact. This tutorial is a mind blowing gem, thank you!
You can see how passionate Mike is to teach the game of golf , just amazing. This is my favorite golf lesson video, made a huge difference in my game. Thank you Mike and Brendon. 🙏
"See, you're doing your golf teacher thing, because you're gettin' ME to figure it out for you". After the instructor had literally told him the concept of the left leaning shaft three or four times. Mike Malaska is an extremely tolerant, patient man.
GW. AUSTRALIA. IS Brendan arrogant or just plain ignorant.
@@grahamwhiteside4862 both. He really thinks he's good. Says he a 3 handicap. HahahaHahaha
@@grahamwhiteside4862 He's all of the above AND fucking clueless
Y’all are just haters. Let the man provide great contact for us.
Brendan was referring to the fact that Mike Malaska routinely gets his students to teach to him what he’s trying to convey to them.
Like him or hate him, Brendan has uncovered and shared some real learning gems through his content. For that alone, I like and thank him.
Brendan, just want to say thank you for putting all of yourself out there to ask questions, and be willing to learn. I've learned a lot through your channel, and you have forwarded me along to a ton of absolute masters of Golf that I would have really never come across, or understood, if you hadn't been there to ask the "amature questions". #1 - I'm sure you are way better than me, so "amature questions" is an understatement. You do great. Thank you for putting forth that finances to take those lessons, and give it to us for free here. Truly.
Malaska and Danny Maude are the 2 best instructors around. Mike goes more in depth and Danny simplifies anything complicated…having both subscribed is a blessing… good job!
Shawn Clement
Mike Malaska is THE instructor. He knows the golf swing better than most but he also knows how to make us understand it.
Jeez, its so bloody obvious once you are shown. This is an absolute gem of a video. Great work B and Mike.
I’ve been playing for over 20 years and tried this. It can’t be this simple. Thanks Mike! 🏌️♂️
My miss is a shank that takes it 60 def to the right; I hate it. Can’t wait to try this concept!
@Leroy Brown Haha, that did make me laugh! Thing is, if he ever does discover the holy grail, he would no longer have any content to put out.
@@SUPaddict I have been going through something similar. Although mine is toe shank (if such a thing exists). I just nearly miss the ball and have sent many of my friends scampering from the tee off area. Bloody game!!
@Leroy Brown im sure your swing is absent of any faults, and remains that way always.
lmao 8:42
Brandon: It's funny, I'm feelin like Dustin Johnson
Mike: Ok calm down buddy
Great vid as always though. Thanks!
Lmao!!!!!
Yo I fell on the floor 😂😂😂😂😂
Mike was like OHH OK HOLD ON
I’ve watched this video probably 10 times and have picked up a nugget every time... Do yourself a favor and save this to the archives. It’s gold!!!!!
That SOUND is incredible! Such a big difference!
Brendan one of your best videos ever.
Mike malaska is the most practical golf teacher I've ever listened to.
Thank you Mike!!!
This is exactly me Brendan. I’ve been obsessed with my hands at impact over the last year and the more I focus on it, the more often I shank off the hosel. Can’t wait to try out the tips from this video.
Hands down the best instructor I've seen in youtube videos. And I've watched far tooooo many.
After watching this video a few times I went and practiced my swing at the range. Yesterday I competed at a local club and hit a 75 the best gross of the day. I’m a 10 hcp player. This proves his teaching works. Thank you so much. Best video ever!
Mike’s knowledge of the golf swing and his excellent instructional skills is what shines through. Legend
That moment when you find your happy place @8:43, and Mike’s reaction, Let’s not get carried away 😂😂 Great video man, keep it up!!
This is the best teacher you have had on your channel
This was a heartbreaker Brandon. It's amazing you didn't realize the hands are going around to get shaft lean.(and hopefully upwards too) Shows how strange the game is.
I'm disappointed in the guy with that training aid never having made this clear. Bernie?
One thing that tended to help my students was realizing the left arm moved across the body from address position in the backswing and that it doesn't get back to address position until after impact. So you have to start going around the corner with the pivot to get the clubhead to the ball. It sounds counter intuitive but it actually advances the handle .
You don't want to feel the left arm moving targetward away from body to get shaft lean. That won't work.
This lesson blew my mind because if anyone should have known this it's you
I'm not belittling you, I'm just pointing out how we take conceptual stuff for granted and we get stuck not realizing we have a major conceptual flaw.
I think you should take a look at your lie angles if you start doing this well.
You'll need them flatter because your hands will be lower .
Flatter gives you permission to go around the corner. Upright does not. Because the ball will go left. Seriously check this.
And the divot should have a leftward tail.
You actually compressed a few here .
Compression is not just a vertical event hands leading deloftrd etc ..
By going around the corner you "collect" the ball in the arc with the face maintaining synchronized squareness to the arc. Thats when we really compress it .
Anyway, mind blower here.
I think it's bigger than you think.
Your not quite right motion heretofor makes sense to me now. I see what you were trying to do.
Seriously big conceptual leap here.
Congrats.
Hope so. Really have no desire to play golf until I get impact right. Sad as that seems, I just get so little joy out of playing w a flip.
But my desire to practice and improve is as intense as ever right now.
And what brings your hands left? It's the pivot! Get that chest open and it will pull your hands left, leading to shaft lean! I bet when you look back at your lessons with Milo, you'll see how he does this in such an efficient manner.
@@BEBETTERGOLF bend one of your random irons, 7or6, 3 degrees flatter than what your irons are now. And practice taking it around the corner with it . Humor me. I think some bells will start to ring.
@@chaseblossom1263 👍 yes. We're hitting off the right side of us.
8:44 “...feel like dustin johnson?“ .... “whoa, ok!“ (hold on there buddy). haha, classic :) good video mate. cheers
Yeah, that cracked me up. Pump the brakes there buddy!!!
He is a close talker, I can tell he gets right in your face to talk and crowds you and you step back. I have met people like that.
True dude I love MM but it makes me uncomfortable just watching 😂
Is this a Seinfeld bit?
This was the best lesson I have ever seen regarding face/path and the swing circle I have ever seen. Wonderful discussion and a much more full understanding of what these are and how they apply to the elusive golf swing.
Just love your approach Mike, and your explanation of how many golfers through a poorly understood concept can practice at actually getting worse, not better. You can see the lightbulb moment for Brendan.
This was a lightbulb moment for me. My contact has transformed having watched this. Thank you so much!
Thank you Mike. I was at a point ready to quit golf because I was SHANKING MY WEDGES. This explanation has given life and excitement for my game.
Mike you are the BEST.
TKS AGAIN.
Watched a lot of these videos and this is by far the best I've ever seen him swing the clubr. Not even close.
I love you guys! This clicks with me a lot! It explains to me the shank when my hands feel too far away from my belly every now and then. It also explains my pulled(or hook) shots when I am not aligned properly at address....too closed. I am going to pay way more attention to those at the next range session. Thanks!!!
And that's saved to the practice playlist. Appreciate all the work Mike has put into understanding the science/mechanics of the swing.
I find that your videos, usually with Mike or Monte, have those tiny nuggets of knowledge that incrementally help me understand my swing better.
The best instructional video I have ever...over many years...watched!! Brilliant
Fantastic tip and explanation- as it explains one of the problems I’ve had for years - 15 yards left - and knowledge of how the pros set their clubs down behind the ball. Excellent
0:43 I was going through this VERBATIM 2 days ago at the range . Its like you read my mind and made a video specifically for me. Thank you , cant wait to try this at the range tomorrow.
You don't just watch a Mike Malaska video once...
This was SUCH an insightful video. Thanks guys! Play well and enjoy!
Wow, this lesson just blew my mind! Never thought of the path of my hands like that and its relation to the club face at impact like this before, but it would explain a number of my mishits. I've made the adjustment to thinking/visualizing the club head path as being on that arc (seeing golf as a game of curves rather than straight lines), but applying it more to my hands in this manner is the next step. Can't wait to try this!
Such a good video and this will help whoever watches it. Honestly think this will transform my swing. 🙏👍
So funny when You do something right as a result of Mike’s coaching and he does that step in move and is right in your face. An amazing coach and cool fella.
"... Now we got a chance" - I love Mike :-)
Mike, great instructor, mind blowing easy corrections that make a big difference
This was a wonderful lesson for me as well. Thank you Mike Malaska!
now my golf swing is finally complete. this is exactly what I was missing. Thank you so much!
That was really good!! I’ve had the exact same issue with shaft lean, shanking while practicing, club position slightly open, etc, etc!
Man I love Mike. This is the first time I’ve heard these things and I’ve watched thousands of golf instruction videos.
Best Video I have seen in the last 5 years! Mike, where was your coaching 40 years ago; I have to believe this concept would have prevented two back surgeries. God Bless.
“I see no future for my golf game from the face-on view... when I’m seeing that” (1:15). My sentiments exactly about my own golf game! I am loving these posted lessons with Mike!! I’m learning alongside you-great content!
This could be (for me) the best Video Mike has done. 1st time in 40 years I really have a true understanding of impact!
Mike has the patience of a master instructor. Sometimes it just takes a few more repetitions to get the point to sink in. Brendan just needed to make the info his own in his own way. Kudos to Mike for allowing that to happen.
The amount of value here is amazing. Many many thanks.
Idk why but I'm watching this again a year later and it has just CLICKED. I can't wait to get back out there
This is Mike’s best contribution to teaching us ams. Great stuff.
This video answered so many questions I had these few days - pull, push, shank , so details , great video 👍
Pure Gold and perfect timing for what I'm working on!
This is awesome Brendan! I’m working on the same exact stuff. Less strong club face with the hands exiting more left/closer to my body
OMG..... I seriously appreciate the level of detail from Mike. I often look at the head of a club and wonder "what the heck am I doing with this thing?" Mike really helps me to visualize what's happening.
This video was truly enlightening, I’ve obsessed with the hands ahead of the club head for a while, and this has really helped me understand the whole concept, thanks! 👍
Brendon, I've been trying a whole bunch of different things to get shaft lean the past couple of years. I think the answer is closer than we think. To get shaft lean you've got to have a flat/bowed left wrist and right wrist extension at impact. I've kind of always thought if I have a good swing it will naturally happen, I don't think this is the case.. To get shaft learn you've gotta bow/extend your wrist. I have a strong grip, I bow my left wrist and extend my right wrist in the backswing and then all the way throughout my downswing feel like I'm bowing and extending my wrists even more. The trick to this is having low tension in your wrists. The constant bowing into impact will get you the shaft lean, and the loose wrists will allow the club to swing through without holding it off.
Mike took only 15 mins to fix Brendon impact, impressive! Thanks pal, this means a lot to me since I start teaching golf to my buddy 🤙
Cracking video B.
I've been striking the ball relatively well but neglecting my hands and focusing too much on the body, will have to give this a go.
Same problem troubling my swing by shanks now and then. I had no clue what the cause was until this very lesson! Thank you so much for this great lesson!
OMG this has to be the best explained of the impact strike I have seen thank you so much.
Good one guys! Hand path, hand strike position, shaft and club head angle and line to ball, all in relation to swing arc.. . Explained very simply Mike...
This is the best lesson vlog you've ever done maybe the best impact position lesson ever. 💡 moment for me
I like "I feel Dustin Johnson" @ 8:45. Thanks for introducing Mike to us. I use all his concepts and feel better about my golf.
And we are oh so glad you asked the question AND hit the shank. Great stuff. Thanks BBG. Thanks Mike.
Great video 👍 thank you. 11:28 1 second on the clock face (or one minute)= 6 degrees, which is around 21 yards offline for a 200 yard drive, 32 yards offline for a 300 yard drive.
I'm glad I watched this again before going out to the range today to drive myself nutz. Thanks, guys.
Incredible lesson.....very easy to understand for me from Indonesia
Terrific video and teaching by Mike. It highlighted for me a reason for the “unmentionable” shot which is not covered in various shank solutions I have checked out recently. Looking forward to using the advice !
Awesome Lesson! Thank you for the great content!
Pure Gold...Thank you gentlemen!
definitely will be working on this. thank you
OMG! I do the same thing he does...2-3° hooded, heel hits, feeling like my hand path gets too far away from me.
Very timely.
Thanks guys!
listenning and understanding mike's explication are realy a benediction . Thank you so much Mike you save my golf
Wow ! Wow ! That was an epiphany for me ! Where my hands go , inside and not outside wow !
I use to teach and I spent most my time trying to get people to understand what they were trying to do.. He is a very good teacher
Great lesson thank you !
Great video Brendon! Very helpful! Gonna work on this same thing at the range tonight
Congrats on those pureed shots you could actually hear the ball hiss as it came off the club!!
I'm looking forward to the day that I can do that.
Awesome lesson.... so many key points
Mike is without question the best teacher and communicator in golf...I’m flushing it because of his work.
This is a great video. I get bouts of the shanks and I think the reason is here in this video. I will take it to the range and work on getting a better impact position. Thank you.
Mike has to be one of the best coaches out there. He explained that so well.
What a fantastic explanation of impact , this has really helped me , what a great teacher
One of the best videos , Mike brings most invaluable knowledge, insight and understanding of golf. He should be the Professor and head of research and all the techies and engineers should work with his guidance for golf research to be more meaningful and relevant.
This is absolute golden advice.
The sound is everything. Prefix and postfix impact sound comparison is amazing.
Best teacher on CZcams!
The second half of this was a real revelation. I had never considered the difference of the face angle in the last few millimeters before impact and have always tried to set up with a club face square to the flight line. This minuscule detail could be a game-changer for me. Thanks B. Thanks Mike.
Thx for watching
Terrific lesson from Mike - because it's simple and makes sense - much appreciated
Huge help. Thank you!
Boy I needed this video 2 years ago! 😂
Thanks so much for this video lesson. A real lightbulb moment for me as my hand path and club face at address are almost the same as yours. I’ll look to change them from today.
Mike is the best communicator of the golf swing that I am lucky to be able to watch.
Mike the best info was finding square relative to his swing!! So good exactly what I struggle with ,, my miss is a pull ,, thinking that iam square but IAM closed !! Awesome ty guys ,,stay safe
I've been playing for a LONG time, quite well, but with a "square" clubface at address (which really means closed at impact). When I was younger I could fix those issues with my hands, most of the time, at impact. After watching this video, and a couple of others from Mike, I noticed immediately a couple of things. One, when I took a practice swing, I could generate a lot of speed, but on real swings it was slower. That's because, I believe, I was manipulating the clubface in order to not hook the ball off the planet. Within just a few swings with the face set to what I felt was quite "open", I could swing aggressively without manipulating the clubface with my hands and the ball went straight. VERY straight. This is such an eye opener for me.
Good info, good teacher and very good student.
Great video for an amateur player! I learned so much and this improved my game.
This has to be one of the best instructional pieces on golf in YT.
good stuff..the shank lesson helped me!
This is the most aptly titled video! Excellent work, many thanks
Best explanation I have seen... ever!!
