    So true regarding AI programs. Not only have I seen so many end up with absurdly high barbell volume in a similar structure, but also the idea of compartmentalizing training and only using deductive reasoning rather than inductive reasoning as well is a fatal flaw imo. And that can only be balanced if Jugg AI was...actually AI lol.

      Bro I just want you to know that even to this day after years of communicating with you I still trip out when you comment on my videos.
      Couldn’t agree more man! Everyone is rather obsessed with Individualized approaches heavily factored by deductive logic but we forget applying an approach with the larger population in mind is equally beneficial. One of my largest realizations with programming the last year is that extrapolating info from the population rather than the individual is highly effective. I hit a 760 deadlift basically training like my group coaching members with some small tweaks lol

      “I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I'll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower, I use a water activated gel cleanser. Then a honey almond body scrub. And on the face, an exfoliating gel scrub. Then apply an herb mint facial mask, which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an aftershave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. After this I watch Brendan Tietz CZcams videos for testosterone elevation.”

    Maybe you mentioned it in the vid, but I'm noticing you're sinking your bench into your chest, and you never used to do that. You'd pause it right on your t shirt, essentially. Now you're noticeably sinking into your chest, which actually feels better for me. And literally as I'm typing this, you just covered it. Haha...I'll post anyways. But I'd be interested in hearing more of your thoughts on this, because I feel much better sinking the bar into my chest. Feels better on my shoulders, and I feel stronger. Could you speak more on this?

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  Před rokem +1

      I’ll make a video covering it but essentially sink will have more power but less stability. Soft touch the opposite. Both work at high levels. John Haack soft touches like I used to and his is crazy soft. Obviously one of the best benchers especially given his arm length. Julius Maddox or my coach Dylan both sink. Dylan would argue Julius is actually too careless with his sink lol and I’d actually agree which is why he’s inconsistent. But crazy brute power. You gotta find the perfect style for yourself

    Staffy mixes are the best. Our rescues are 1/4 American Staffy, 1/4 German Shorthaired Pointer, 1/8 Pug, and the rest unknown mix breed (from DNA test), but they act pretty much like full Staffies. Sweetest, most loving dogs I've ever had (we have 2 brother littermates).

    Great insights in this video, thanks! Bench press is my worst lift too, but I'm going to try the “locking out with pecs” tip and the other two posted on the prime website in my next bench day ! Unfortunately my gym doesn't have a good bench pad, it's always slipping, but I'll use some bands as you recommended.

  • @dinop2730
    @dinop2730 Před rokem +1

    I always had huge problems locking out the bench press, I can easily explode off the chest and when I pass 90 degree elbow angle the bar gets extremely heavy, which is weird because triceps (especialy long head) is strongest part of my body. I've read in one of Greg nuckols articles that locking out the bench press should be the easiest part because of biomechanics, so it is just a technical/positional issue.I was wondering what is your opinion on that.
    Sorry for the long question, and I really appreciate all the free content you are providing, stay positive 👑

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  Před rokem

      Oh dude couldn’t disagree more. Perhaps there is a misinterpretation there accidentally because I can’t imagine him saying that. His biomechanic knowledge is vast. However grip width plays a huge role. Almost everyone closer grip struggles from halfway up to lockout mainly due to the increased moment arm on both the shoulder and elbow. You’re basically in a bad position to lockout. Technique does play a role too

    The progressive overload topic makes sense to me.. I would always look at a workout like a fuel tank.. the more you’ve used prior to the exercise the less you have left to PR movements on the previous week.
    Also upload the pod to here and break off some clips in topic form like your JRE CLIPS. It’s easier to consume and it’s like a good movie trailer, better then trailer more likely to watch the movie.
    Great vid dude.

    Excited to learn about your pump supplement. I swear by citrulline malate. Works for me more than creatine I reckon (which I take, but more because its cheap than anything. I think I'm a non-responder). Curious about the other supplements you take and why.

    Hey Brendan I got a question about the fusion program bench backdowns. -22% is quite odd number, (at least to me) cuz i'd have to round it or find the nearest number. In case if you made a typo there, is it 25 or 22?

  • @BH36622
    @BH36622 Před rokem

    Brendan! Super jacked up that you’re back to the CZcams! Question on the group coaching, what’s the frequency of lifts we will be hitting this season? I’ve been having some AC joint issues so want to make sure there’s sufficient lower body days so I can still have some fun.

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  Před rokem +1

      So this season is very bodybuilding oriented especially fusion! Tons of volume and accessory work and block 2 gets even crazier. Prob the best season for issues with shoulder! You could easily handle the upper days if you modify and go super light. I’m doing DB bench with like 70s on one day for sets of 14 LOL! It’s killer!

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  Před rokem +1

      But to be specific frequency is 2x on bench, 1x squats and deads with some variations. But it’s spread out nicely

    Hey man great video. Quick question. My bench sucks compared to squat and deadlift because of my upper body size. I only have legs lol.
    What split should I do to maintain my leg size and strength while focusing on increase bench and getting upper body size?

      Unfortunately nuobell (the brand) only goes up to 80s last I checked. However there is a new brand on the market that goes to 125 that’s similar to these but slightly less efficient in changing the load. Both are great! I forget the brand name though but Brandon Campbell just did a great video on them

    It doesn’t make a ton of sense to combine powerlifting and hypertrophy training in one meso. You end up just getting mediocre results in both. A much more intelligent approach would be periodizing them into two distinct phases. Although I’m sure a more general “powerbuilding” program is much more digestible for normies and will enable you to sell more ebooks or whatever.

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  Před rokem +1

      Agreed! I just did a whole video on this! You do have to continue to squat, bench and dead with some aspects of strength spliced in but I run 2 mesos of hypertrophy and 2 of strength with our group coaching. However even then I wish I could customize it more but that isn’t possible with broad spectrum programming. With clients often times I’ll do 6 months to a year biasing just one style of training.
