  • We spend our Saturday with good friends venturing up into the Sierra Nevada mountains right in our own back yard. We pop into Uncle Tom's Cabin before finding a great spot at Loon Lake for some paddle boarding with the dogs and enjoying each other's company. Sunday we venture out to find a few new camp sites and stumble across some awesome riverside spots where we take in the amazing mountain views and play with the dogs in the river.

    That’s some beautiful Clearwater. Funny story we went out in search of new camping areas in the Sierra Anche found a spot with beautiful trees and a crystal clear creek then the sign this area closed to camping OK for day use only due to uranium mining in the 50s😂 oh well still was a beautiful area and a great day adventure with my son.

    My parents are up near Sac. I need to get out and explore that area. Love the videos since you are in the closest area for me to wheel in!

      I think there might be more space to explore in the Sierra Nevada mounains than we coud do in one lifetime. :)

    Just came accross your channel. I'm thinking about getting a jeep but I've been concerned about our large dog...wet and dirty. We'll always had a truck so that was never a problem. I'm gonna check through your vids to see if you show how you're set up for them. If you care to share any thoughts I'd love to hear.

    • @GoldensGoneWheelin

      Glad you found us! I'm happy to share some thoughts. We do pretty well in the JLU 4door, but we did remove the back seat to add something called the CargoDog. It provides both a platform for the dogs to sleep on as well as storage. I have a video posted on the interior you can check out. czcams.com/video/O9OewFP1WOY/video.html
      Frankly, we would have removed the rear seat in any vehicle so the dogs would have a platform and room. We still use a ground tent wioth the dogs. Their both about 80lbs, so both accessibility and space makes a rooftop tent a bit problematic. If we had a gladiator we could do something like the Alu-Cab ModCap solution so we could sleep on top and the dogs could sleep below.
      We specifically went with the Jeep because we knew we' d be in places that require extreame rock crawling and articulation, so we wanted the solid front axle.
      Feel free to ping me if you have any questions.

    Been watching several of your vids and have a personal question to ask. 😳 besides the cost of your jeep…approximately how much do you have invested in the rest?

    • @GoldensGoneWheelin
      @GoldensGoneWheelin  Před 23 dny

      Are you asking about the camping grear? Or also including the modifications to the Jeep?

    • @NoResults-NoCharge
      @NoResults-NoCharge Před 23 dny

      Mainly all the camping gear/accessories.

    • @GoldensGoneWheelin
      @GoldensGoneWheelin  Před 23 dny

      Oh man. I'm not really sure. I'll have to pull together a spreadsheet and add up the prices. We have accumulated a lot of camping equipment over the years. I'm almost afraid to know how much we've spent at REI. Hahaha

    • @NoResults-NoCharge
      @NoResults-NoCharge Před 23 dny

      That’s what worries me. I could see you having 50k plus in gear. Guess we’ll just take the tent! Lol

    • @GoldensGoneWheelin
      @GoldensGoneWheelin  Před 23 dny

      @@NoResults-NoCharge hahaha. We don't have $50k in camping gear. Probably more like $5k or less. The big ticket items are like the tent @~$500. Thinks like a good mattress and sleeping bags can be a bit pricey.
