I think people missed what you mean by affordable here. What is presented here will be then available standard in future with affordable phones. This is the r&d early access type stage. And soon you will have similar screen, the revolutionary "Scratches at level 7 and deeper grooves at level 8" glass. Fun.

@@cdv9028It's a reference to the hardness of the glass, popularized by the CZcams channel JerryRigEverything, who is well-known for testing the durability of smartphones.
Pretty much every smartphone ever tested has always had "scratches at a level 6, with deeper grooves at a level 7", so a phone that goes above that is considered mythical.

Indeed. At first I also thought "In what universe is their literal top of the line phone affordable?" but I do agree with the real point of having these features trickle down to the affordable phones. I kinda hope Dex trickles down to the A series phones too, they're already capable enough and all they need is to use USB 3.0 instead of being stuck in 2.0. Hell, I believe Dex will be used MORE by people buying the affordable phones if it can replace a desktop PC for browser and office suite use instead of only being in the phones bought by the people that are also the most likely to also afford a separate PC.

I don't believe any phone is perfect and obviously not as good as a dedicated camera. But for travel photographers the phone could still shine. 12:10 Hi Eber, I might be late to the party but maybe aside from minimizing the intelligent optimization you can also download the "camera assistant" module from good lock. Good Lock is an app containing experimental feature labs by Samsung themselves and you can get it from either play store or the samsung store. In the camera assistant you can toggle off the Auto HDR and set picture softening, which helps with oversharpening problem like i had in my S23 Ultra. There are also many other features there and probably, the Good Lock itself deserves its own video as it is somewhat game-changing for Samsung phones customization! I think they are also available for lower class samsungs as well so anyone can enjoy.
Love your coverage as usual, perhaps one thing missing is I hope you pushed for SD card slot to make a comeback since this class of phone is so great at taking photos and videos, and those eat a lot of space 😅

Sometimes I forget just how much functionality is baked inside these devices now. Granted, I don't see myself using a lot of them but it's still amazing to see. It also highlights the fact that a lot of these capabilities are what you actually pay extra for in these flagship+ devices yet most of the people who buy these either aren't actually creative enough or knowledgeable about their devices enough to take advantage of them and just end up wasting money.

Let me tell you one thing : To learn languages daily, without classes just by yourself, there is no better phone thanks to the S Pen.
The S Pen allows you to copy anything, and translate it. Now, the translation is only useful to know what you clicked on. But if you're inside the settings of your phone or any internal software part, you can copy it thanks to the S Pen.
For example, I use my phone in Japanese and don't know yet every kanjis. So when I'm stuck, I pull out the S Pen, copy the sentence I don't get and then dive into a dictionnary to learn and remember. By using my phone in full japanese for months, the progress I've done besides talking with penpal friends, videos/movies and my self teach classes, is incredibly high. And with some good dictionnaries, I'm pretty sure you can do it with other langugages.

S24 Ultra is literally the King of Smartphones [for 2024].
    It is the best imo.
    Have the S22 Ultra.
Absolutely love this thing. This Burgundy colour, the Curved Display [looks sexy af], blazing performance with no lags or stutters whatsoever [except in Spotify and Instagram, both apps which I rarely use, so idgaf] Galaxy AI [Circle to Search is really good], Secure Folder, Ultra-Sonic FingerPrint Reader [which works 100% for me, all the time, every time], One-Handed Mode, Good Lock et al, with an all-day battery life to top it all. I just love this thing. Thank God it'll get Software Support till 2026.
The 3 things I do not like about the S24 Ultra though are -
    - Flat Display [looks a bit fugly imo on this phone]
    - Absolute shit colours
    - No Class 3 Face Unlock [the likes of which Pixel 8 and iPhones have]. This was a must-have imo, and I was disappointed when the S24U didn't have it.

Imo, Samsungs camera is better than the Pixel 8 Pro. Pixel has issues with white balance, turning warm lighting into cool and vice versa. The DNG files on Pixel doesn't have a profile in LR, so the raw files end up looking terrible and hazy. The 50mp photo processing is terribly slow, takes a solid 2 minutes to process after hitting the shutter button. The controls for ISO and shutter speed are also buried under several other adjustments, so you have to scroll all the way to the end.

  • @AquaStevae
    @AquaStevae Před 14 dny +1

I've had mine since they came out. And while overall I love the features of this phone, I have experienced multiple problems that I never experienced on my S23U. First, the phone keeps coming on in my pocket and making phone calls. Yes, I have security setup on the phone, so it shouldn't function without my finger print. But it does! It also deleted over 50% of my apps, without any direction from me. Still don't know how this happened, but it did. I've never experienced any of this on any other of my Samsung phones. Many times it also will NOT send a pic in a text or receive one. Again, never before... Most of the features work very well, and I have no complaints about anything other than what I've listed. But those are some seriously annoying things, and I am looking for fixes. Thanks to anyone who can point me to any. I still think it's the best phone on the market right now.

Completely disagree with this video. Almost everything that was mentioned as a negative, the average user will never notice. Its one of the most negative reviews Ive seen and just comes off so whiney and talks about so many subjective things where it feels like the video is trying way too hard to come up with two negatives for every positive.
I upgraded from a Note 20 Ultra and was previously an iPhone user and this is by far the best phone Ive ever owned. The screen alone is a technical marvel and as a heavy user, I don't have any issues with any apps, its incredibly smooth, One UI is amazing, Dex is amazing, gaming on it is amazing, pen works great as always, pictures and videos are great, though I think iphones are slightly better for videos in certain scenarios, and the way I can customize this phone to my hearts content along with all of the pros including the battery make it well worth the money. Its a pocket sized well rounded super computer.

I dislike the ways in which Samsung locks down customizability compared to base Android or lighter skins; I owned an S3 and an S7 before switching to a OnePlus 7 pro in 2019. I just bought a OnePlus 12; it arrives tomorrow. Has specs that are similar or the same as the Samsung, just a slightly worse camera and no pen, but was $900 for the 16 gig model and I know I won't be fighting Samsung's skin.
