Amazing work. Mx5 are great cars it's such a shame they rot so badly. it's good to See you bringing it back to life instead of scrapping it. Would be nice to no the costs of doing something like this
This car had too many rust areas to price up and was used as a project :) we are cheaper than most think. For example sill sections are £375 each and that includes the outer, both inner, the adjacent floor section and and inner arch end , this is all finished painted and protected.
Wish you guys were a bit closer! my MX5 needs some rough and ready but quality repairs like you are doing here but the local bodyshops down my way are reluctant to do a cost effective repair and want to do it all really high standard which isnt what I want! just want to keep the car on the road for another year or so
Great videos mate I have just found your channel and think it's excellent. I am in the middle of a rustoration on my mk1 with my friend but it's a full strip down can you please tell me possibly what size / capacity compressor I would ideally need for the stone chip coat if possible and for the paint as I need to get 1 that is suitable for the job but I don't have a massive budget. P.s I wish I had your panel crafting and welding skills you look epic on the camera on your videos. Keep up the good work and keep them videos coming 👍 👏
As a matter of interest.. what thickness is the metal sheet younuse on this for so you cannstill shape it while its cold.. i'm guessing about 0.8 mm? Is it the same thicknes with all your structural repairs? It seems that way in the videos but that can be very different i guess..
what if you use that feature to hide you're weld seams? now the weld is say 1" around it, by getting it a lot close you use the change in surface to blend in your weld. Now it is a weld in the middle of a visual flat surface which is really hard to blend in. Just an idea, suggestion. Cheers
Someone really loved that car to get all of that work done.
It has had a lot of work done :)
Another great exhibition of fabricating. Thanks.
Thabk you for your support Gerry :)
The amount of metal bashing skills shown here is amazing. Again a great video of MX5 fixing.

I reckon you guys could fabricate an MX5 from scratch free-hand. Amazing stuff!
It would take a while though :)
