All you need to know is, you may have the most bad ass off roader made by any one. And you can drive it to the hell and back. But when it gets stuck, the rescue is always a Defender
That's funny because it is true!
That is true only close to cities and towns with service centers. When you get into truly remote regions in Australia 90% of vehicles seen are Land Cruiser, and the rest are Patrol. Unreliable vehicles like Jeep and Land Rover are not seen out there because unreliability is a liability that cannot be afforded when a long way from help.

@@richardhunt1384having owned both 60 series and a 96 defender I have to disagree. Done more km's with less issues with the defender. Yes parts are easier with aftermarket support for all Toyota models. My only complaint is the snail pace of the defender. But towing and clearance it absolutely destroyed the cruiser.

I was an instructor on Landrovers in the Army for 10 years, on a proper off road course nothing comes close.

We got an Isuzu truck good and stuck after heavy rain came along while we were down a farm track. After 10 mins of failing to move it a Defender came round the corner, hooked us up to their on board winch and dragged us out with no problem. Big respect for them after that
I went on vacation to Scotland. And the amount of Defenders I saw is insane. They use it for everything, they customise them to their own needs. My dad also owns a Defender 110, and it's so fun to drive. It's just raw and basic. No comfort, but still a joy to drive
I live in Scotland and also live rural surrounded by hills, mountains and farmers. The Defenders have become a novelty, and mostly driven by wealthier folk due the repair cost. Even Range Rover is a dying breed out here. I see more of them in Glasgow or Edinburgh then out here in the sticks.
"Normal" people tend to stuck to Ford, Nissan, Toyota and Suzuki, followed by Isuzu and Daihatsu and some Great Walls are also in my area.
Also mostly pick-ups, it's quite dominated by the 3: Ford Ranger, Nissan Navara and Toyota Hilux.
If "SUV" then I see a lot of Mitsubishi Pajero/Shoguns.
But also considering I live in an area where a lot of farmers, and they depend on their tools, I kind of understand why they tend to stick to Japanese brands; except the tractors, they all John Deer out here.
There is one guy, he was the first one using an Ineos Grenadier, but I've never seen that thing dirty.

Just remember the Land Rover was the first perpos made production 4x4 off road car available to the public in 1948. And the first one off the production line (JUE 477) and is still in existence and running (owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe who also owns Ineos who builds the Grenadier).
Theres a reason they were known as "The Best 4x4 by far".
the Defender was based on the British Military Landrover, When I Served, our Landrovers were Diesel, we had do a course to qualify for "rough terrain" driving of the Landrover, which included driving across a River with water passing through the cab and across my Lap , it was totaly surreal
The engine in the Defender sounds to me like it's a Td5. 2.5 liter 5-cylinder turbodiesel.

@@Mmrraww I've got the last of the 200 and it's got over 600 000km on the clock also just brought myself a 2009 Range Rover Sport TDV8 now that thing has some power. Only thing that I've replaced on the 200 has been the gearbox 3 times because I've destroyed 5th gear brilliant bit of kit
I would have thought that with it being in an off roader 90 it would be a 200 TDI. I've had a few lol. My favorite was my 110 3.5 V8 on carbs. Hated the water but when I cut the box out of the exhaust and welded a scaffold bar in, it sounded sooooo good.
The one in the video has the hump in the bonnet showing it to be the four cylinder ford puma 2.6l

Don't forget the air suspension. Now in our seventies it's nice to lower the height when out shopping to ease getting in and out, but it's great to raise it to clear rocks and logs on rutted unsurfaced back roads here in the Oregon mountains. You can keep your Toyotas. After some early 'series' models, followed by a couple of Discovery's, our L322 RR SC is just as good and wonderfully comfortable. It's a long distance highway express when we need one and a mountain goat when we need that too. Even on low profile highway tires.

LR were the pioneers for fully independent air-bag suspension off-road. What you're seeing is what they used to call "cross-link" where pressure would change in the bags to simulate being a solid axle when the vehicle was crossed up. Since there aren't any pumpkins hanging down in the middle the ground clearance is deceptively good with a completely flat belly pan. All the Rangies and modern Discovery (LR3 and LR4 in the US) have a locked center diff, and the front and rear are usually open and rely on traction control which is very aggressive at low speeds. This system called "Terrain Response" was the first of its kind. Later on they started fitting rear lockers as an option in Discovery / LR3 / LR4, and Range Rovers. Drive train wise it's a very capable package. If you go slow and pay more attention to tire placement it's a more rewarding experience I think than just bombing up obstacles on 35s. One of the secrets to that drivetrain is having a good cooler strapped onto a very stout automatic gearbox. They love to work.

the air suspension in my old RRC LWB greeted me on the bump stops each morning 🌅😂 first kilometer could be a bit rough until it pumped back up but was great 👍 P38 fixed most of the issues and was a real dream before the IRS / IFS came along. I still think that was the most comfortable and most capable version of all the Rangies, but they were arguably lemons all of them.

The First year they ran Jeeps some that broke in half.
That's the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Land Rovers as my dad used to have a VHS of Camel Trophy, with I think the Defender 110's or it might have been the 90's can't remember properly which one it was.

Here in Spain there was a company called Santana Motors that had the license to manufacture Land Rover Defenders for many years. They were called Land Rover Santana and they were very popular among country people during the 60s, 70s and 80s. My grandfather had an olive green one. I was a kid in the 80s and I loved that car. Every time I got in that car, for my child self it was like going on a great adventure. That's why I am very fond of the Defender, it brings back many good memories of my grandpa.
The lady who helps us in the garden has a Santana. Quite fun parking next to my 90.

I grew up in the Australian out back and used four wheel drive vehicles, from 1980 onwards, in the bush when there were no such things as GPSs, reliable maps, totally reliable vehicles (you needed a certain amount of mechanical ability to keep them going), mobile phones (or satellite phones) and even the stations (cattle farms) only had fairly rudimentary means of communication. The main things required of a four wheel drive were, ability to literally stay together (sort of included reliability), and ground clearance. This was because the "rough spots" were normally not that far across and you could winch up, down or through just about anything (if they stayed together). Bronco's/ F100 were out because they were too big for a lot of the tracks, Jeeps weren't really known apart from the WW2 versions and with a monocoque construction would probably not pass the "stay together" standard. Early hylux's were known to actually break in the middle, and Unimogs were army stuff while G Wagons (didn't know of them either) were too expensive (for most of us). That left Toyota Landcruisers, Nissan Patrols and Landrovers. Landcruisers had a lot of the market, Patrols were seen as sort of level with the Landcruisers but because dealerships were few and far between were shied away from while the Landrovers were seen as "delicate" ..........BUT if you knew how to drive them they could get you places the others couldn't but if you didn't know how to drive them you'd just break them so you'd better just get a Landcruiser or Patrol. You'd happily drive for miles to avoid a tricky crossing as if something went really wrong you were a long, long, way from help and the "alarm" wouldn't be raised for a week or so......if you were lucky. I've lately tried telling my now elderly Mum to make sure she messaged either me or my sister every day or so when they were caravaning. She just smiled and said she was getting pay back for when I used to disappear for 2, 3 or once even 4 weeks at a time. I really didn't have a comeback for that.
Somehow in our crowded UK we stil manage to have some pretty wild areas. Parts of Wales ( Cymru in Welsh) have very rough country, and I'm pleased you appreciated its beauty. Although in West Wales in particular it really can rain...

Landy's are something else, Mum had lwb 2a to take us to school in, i had a swb series 3 for 10 years (still miss it), you must go down the "Camel Trophy" rabbit hole.

Since you liked that so much you should take a look at the camel trophy back in the day. A lot of Land Rovers in that one.
The biggest thing to remember is a lot of US and Asia markets vehicles often need modifications to do the same thing as a stock landrover in the right hands. Driver ability is 90% of off road driving, the better the driver the less toys or modifications are needed and let's be fare, the US Jeep was the original 4x4 then Landrover perfected it and made the best all round 4x4 ever.
It makes sense as the original designer of the first Land Rover in the 1940s had a Willys Jeep and said: “we can make something like this.” It really is the British Jeep.
From 1970 to 2001 the Range Rover’s engine was the iconic 3.5 litre Rover V8. 3rd gens had a BMW V8 now it’s a Jaguar V8
BTW. It’s just Range Rover. don’t worry about combining the two. 😂

@@bionicgeekgrrl True, Rover bought the rights to build it and due it’s success. Buick tried to buy it back, but we did get the Buick V6 found in the Regal GNX and GMC Syclone.

You can get them with lockers and most of them come from factory with center diff locks and the terrain response is amazing in them.

Remember being in an Army Land Rover in the late 70's up on the moors - we took it up a massive boulder strew river bed. And since we did not own it, we just banged and bumped and scraped it up there! Totally amazing what it could cope with.

Land Rover Discovery 3 and 4 have Air Suspensions, Range Rover same, Defender are the back bone of Land Rover and the old Range Rover, check the Camel Trophy run from Land Rover blow your mind.
That trail that was shown in Wales I've driven a few times it is called Strata Florida and is a great trail with some good water crossings. I drove it in my stock Range Rover just with A/T tyres and it did it easily just scraped its rear a few times on some of the drop-off steps. I did it in my old 1972 Land Rover too and that really didn't didn't break a sweat.
Im a Land Rover fan, most of these in the videos are pretty modified, but you would be surprised where a standard 1971 series 3 Land Rover can go. I once did an off road day, and they used bog standard Discovery 1's , even had road tyres, but even i was impressed where they took us in these vehicles.
I’ve driven the off road track at the factory in Solihull in a Discovery 3 (LR3). Completely stock, as it was off the end of the line. The capabilities are far beyond what you would expect from a 2.5 tonne vehicle.

Adam from the UK Here. Most defenders here are Turbe Diesel. Some of them were made with a 3.5 or 4 litre V8 petrol (an engine Rover got from the US a Buik 215)
The others are Range Rover. Total king if the hill when comes to luxury and off reading. Most of them are also Diesel a 3.0 v6. The petrol ones had a 4.2 supercharger V8 as used in the Jaguar XKR.
Jaguar, land Rover and Range River are all the same company.
That's why the dealerships are Jaguar Land Rover.
The Range Rover are high end luxury 4x4. I belive you have the Escalade over there.
Landrovers goes back to the 30s so are really the bench mark. The Range Rover from about 1998 onward have adjusted full air suspension, hence why ride hight can be changed.

I'm lucky to own a 1987 3.5 V8 90 that I bought new in Dubai (it wasn't even called a Defender then).
I've driven it in deserts, wadis, on the beach, mountains in Oman and every condition thinkable after bringing it back to the UK, deep snow, mud, rocks etc etc.
The ONLY time it's 'let me down was one occasion when I drove through a deep river in Wales that was deeper than the headlights- obviously I should have known better!
Even then, after a bit of WD-40 and drying the coil, distributor etc it drove out of the river!
Most Land Rovers are extremely capable and can go anywhere but more modern types rely on electronics to help ...as I say to lots of people, the only electronic thing in my Landy is the radio! 😂
Mine also has a stainless steel sports exhaust which makes it sound like a 'proper' V8 and turns lots of heads wherever I go.

The Austin champ is a fantastic little mud lugger from the UK, used by the British military in various roles.
Here in Australia we have the Land Rover Perentie (named after the lizard that can climb anything) 6wheeler is a based on the Land Rover 110 running a 3.9 Isuzu 4 cyl diesel, produced by JRA Limited for the Australian Army, and part manufactured and assembled in Moorebank, New South Wales, during the 1980s and 1990s
My old work had a custom 109 on quad tracks the floor was 5ft off the ground and had a snorkel (used for very bad weather recovery) they used to park it on top of a 10ft mound of loose stone chips.
They also had a custom 109 on tractor tires for really muddy areas.
Company changed hands a few time and the newest owners built a 110 td5 version of the tracked one but at standard height.

We call Range Rovers "Chelsea Tractors" in the UK (Chelsea being an expensive suburb of London where the roads are definitely paved, and it is very flat) but some of them are actually very capable. If you want to see how serious Land Rovers can get suggest you look into the Bowler Wildcat - they even make a militarised version of it with big guns - there's actually a new version come out lately, but the original was _insane_ .
I loved my series 1 1958 landrover had a holden 202 6 cylinder in it when I bought it after a couple of years put a alloy v8 out of the Leyland p76 and was awesome loved how simple it was to work on when necessary unfortunately sold it when I had kids and was married miss it today .
Have had my 80series landcruiser for years now that is a great vehicle but always will have a spot in my heart for landrovers especially the comaraderaty between fellow owners that would always wave when passing even know you haven't met them

The Range Rover was the start of the luxury 4X4 in Europe and about the only one for a very long time. It was designed with country side upper class going hunting and stuff like that in mind I guess and comfortable but also very capable. Legendary drummer Ginger Baker from Cream bought a very early one at his local Land Rover dealership in the UK in 1971 to visit and drum with the upcoming Afro beat legend Fela Kuti. Fela Kuti was in Nigeria, allthough starting is own seperationist republic, so Baker drove it to Africa, and simply drove the luxury car through both the Sahara, as a ginger, and the jungle to get there and start a legendary collaboration.
During the 50’s and 60’s, the Land Rover spread across Africa, Australasia, Asia and South America. And said many Africans first sight of a vehicle was a Land Rover. The Land Rover was made in many different bodies, military, ambulances, fire trucks, police, diggers and even tracked (replaced the wheels with 4 tracks) etc, etc.
My Dad had an L322 Supercharged V8 Range Rover back in 2009 and we took that off-roading and I was pretty astonished at what it could do. I think land rovers terrain response and traction control is in a league of its own the way it can manage power and send it around its astonishing especially on road tyres.
The Range Rover was a developement of the Land Rover which was designed to replace the Willy Jeep back in 1945.
The L/R Discovery is a vehicle that can be on the Welsh Mountains in the morning and outside of the Ritz for Dinner. Unfortunately so many Range Rovers are used only as Chelsea tractors.
The Land Rover was built by the Rover Car Company as well. At the time the Land Rover and the Range Rover were models within the Rover range. I think it was in the 80s that Land Rover became a company in its own right, as part of Rover Group.
The vehicle built for the British Army to replace the WW2 Jeep was the Austin Champ which was a larger heavier more complex
vehicle with a jeep MB style body with emphasis on extreme cross country performance. The Land-Rover was prototyped using some Willys MB parts by the brothers who owned the Rover with the intention of building and Agri Jeep type vehicle.
Because it was more versatile and 1/3 the cost of the Austin vehicle the Land-Rover quickly became the standard vehicle of the British and many other armed forces.
The Land-Rover division's Range Rover first appeared in in 1970 at that time was the first off road luxury estate car (the Jeep Waggoner was truck with a station wagon body).
As originally launched the has live axles on coil springs front and rear and the Rover-Buick V8 engine.
A version of this chassis later became the basis for the Land-Rover Defender 90 and 110.

Yes, Range Rovers are model in the Land Rover range. Since the mid-90s, Rangies have had air suspension so he probably put the Range Rover in extended mode.
I have a 1962 Series IIa in Thailand. Just this morning I got back from a 1442 km trip over three days. I’ve had it in water up to the mirrors here! It’s a blast to drive here! And there is tons of off-road trails here.
Most of our farmers in the UK all have range rovers (P38s I think) or discover 2s they go literally anywhere.

The Land rover Discovery was actually designed in the 50s or 60s and it was the proposed shape for the range rover before they chose the mk1 range rover shape decades ago.
Decades later in the 90s, they used that design for the first Discovery shape
The Range Rover is known as the Chelsea Tractor because they're equally at home in an ultra-exlusive wealthy urban location as they are crawling over rocks halfway up a mountain side or mud plugging through a jungle. Luxurious and expensive but also supremely capable off-road.
I drove lots of them off road in the army. Incredibly capable.
I miss my Jeepin days. '96 Cherokee automatic. It was a very modest bulid. 3" lift and mildly larger tires. That thing got me everywhere I wanted to go to.
If you can find Top Gear, series 22, episode 4, just after Will Smith and Margot Robbie's appearance in the star in the reasonably priced car section, you'll find a film with Richard Hammond telling the history and origin of Land Rover. You should try to watch it, Land Rover's origin may surprise you.
In Europe you also see a lot of Land Rover, Range Rover, G-Class in very nice neighborhoods of big cities but you also see a lot of them towing a boat or horse trailer. They are very popular with rich people who own a lot of land

The Range Rovers have independent front and rear and run on air suspension. They usually have a center locker, sometimes a rear, but mostly use Terrain Response to sense wheel slip and move power elsewhere. Depending on the mode it's in it'll adjust the throttle mapping to suit different terrain.

In the British Army I did a basic, then a few months later, an advanced driving course in Land Rover 90s and 110s. There was obviously the maintenance aspect and general servicing aspect to be covered, (yawn) but we all looked forward to the "Practical driving" part of the course.
The off-road driving was amazing and I learned so much. One of the best courses I ever did!!

The first Land Rover - The Series 1 was launched at the Amsterdam Motor Show in 1948. However there is a WW2 film about British Army personnel trying to get back to their lines and in the closing scene there is a Series 1 Land Rover parked in the background!
Driving a Land-Rover on the British Army's training area in Alberta, the lorries had created deep ruts at one point. If I'd tried to follow the LR would have bottomed out and they don't move very well with air under the tyres. I tried to bridge one of the ruts but the outer edge collapsed and my passenger landed on top of me. He was an officer and we were not that friendly. 😁
I changed into low range and drove out with no harm done.
At one time, Range Rovers were popular with people living in central London who wouldn't have understood the concept of land without tarmac or concrete. People poked fun by calling the cars "Chelsea tractors".
And the new defender has an edition called the Chelsea truck

My mechanic friend has a 1948 landrover series 1 swb 80 inch that was bought by his father back in 1949 and which he completely rebuilt from the ground up to its original showroom condition
it is absolutely stunning it took him 10 years to complete and when it was finished the landrover owners club put a value of 30,000 + pounds on it back in 2010 for insurance purposes
he still has it and it's proper landrover eye candy she's turns heads whenever he drives lol.
Rangerovers on stock wheels and tyres can go places where Toyota landcruisers go on modified wheels and tyres

I used to have a 1987 ex-Royal Air Force Land Rover 90 (what later became the Defender) 2.5 NA as my daily drive. Great car - not hugely comfortable, but very easy to drive with great visibility and slightly modified to my needs (better seats, civvie wheels, work light in the rear window because it didn’t have reversing lights).
Eventually had to sell it when I moved abroad full-time, but I miss it a lot. Had it in Scotland for over a decade and only managed to get it stuck once.
In the 50’s two Landrovers drove from London to Singapore. Just recently they rebuilt one of the original series 1 rovers and did it again the other way. 80% of all Landy’s ever made are still on the road.
The other 20% made it home (to complete the joke) :)

So I work for JLR (Jaguar Land Rover) and when I started we got sent on an experience day to use our products for real. There's a section where they park you on a very steep hill, 3 of the 4 wheels on a steel roller, only 1 wheel on solid ground. Pulls off with absolutely zero effort. Seriously impressive machines

Land Rover is the automotive brand, and now has seven different models. So you're right, the full name would be the Land Rover Range Rover. 😁The Original Rover debuted in 1948 and was inspired by the military jeeps of the Second World War. It was initially designed for farming and industrial use. But it also went into service for the British Military and the rest of the Commonwealth....which I recon was always the plan. 😉

i drove Landrover defender in Uganda in the 90s - with diff lock you could go anywhere - I often passed toyota 4WD - just go in the ditch, engage diff lock and pass cars blocking the way (on Mount Elgon). The mud on those roads was so slippery - like wet soap on wet soap - you couldn't even walk on it - some weird clay I understand
The Range Rover that needed air took the difficult route and while not knocking the Land Cruiser in any way it took the pretty flat righthand of the track.
Was thinking the same, do offroaders like to make life difficult for no reason, or is it the challenge they like.

The one you show in Utah is probably a 4.2 supercharged V8 like the one I run in the UK. It produces 395 BHP and has cockpit adjustable air suspension. It's remarkably capable off-road.

Land rovers have always been amazing. We had a 1968 LWB (I believe..60's something) with the old bench seats in the back, growing up. When the Pajero's came out, every city man and his dog took them bush on the tip of cape york. Needless to say, our old girl (as we used to call her) with a double trailer (loaded) pulled many of them out of creeks and steep creek crossings, WITH the trailer on it. Just awesome work horses.
The Defender is the commercial name given to the evolution of the series 1 Land Rover from 1948, and has basically been a go to vehicle for the British Army ever since, because of its rugged dependability, high capability in most terrains, and its simplicity of design, the whole vehicle is bolt on, including body panels, everything easy to replace and repair with a few spanners and a hammer.
My Defender is 26 years old. Just had a major overhaul. Good for many more decades.
As an ex-serviceman in the UK armed forces, I have used many Defenders. They are without doubt the best 4x4 in existence , that are stock.
The original Land-Rover was based on a US Jeep after the war and they have been evolving ever since.
The base requirement when building the Range Rovers is that they maintain the off-road capabilities first and foremost, usually 3 locking diffs, airbags for height adjustability, low range gears, new ones have terrain modes and rock crawler mode, the Defender was designedly off the original Willy’s jeep, the first gen had the steering wheel in the centre and then from the 2nd gen they have looked pretty much the same for decades until the very new iteration of 2023 I think it was, thousands of the Defenders have been in regular service in the British military for almost the Defenders entire lifespan, seeing action in almost every single war zone we have been to.
Love the enthusiasm of the off-road world and how impressed you clearly are at stock Range Rovers capabilities, they are what Top Gear always used as camera cars because they doubled as rescue vehicles if anyone got stuck.
There's a reason that when explorers go on expeditions, they use Land Rovers

Defenders are really loved here in the UK, also there's a big Suzuki off road community, those SJs are pretty capable.
Really enjoyed watching the one that was on road tyres. I used to use landys for my work. They were a joy when they were doing what they do best.
Just came across this channel and I’m definatly coming back to watch more. I used to have a defender and it got rammed by a roughly 1 tonne cow at full pace and it bearly dented it. Its said that there is no were a defender cant go. Defenders are inly in diesel as well.
Modern Range Rovers have air suspension independent axles all round. There is automatic locking on the rear and centre differential, and the ABS is computer controlled all round to supplement the diff locking and adjust the torque to each wheel independently. The other great thing about the axle design is the amount of travel to get maximum number of wheels on the surface.
The older ones with round front lights are so iconic, newer ones sadly are more known from instagram celebrity pictures like you said in the video :(
I recognise the trail the Range Rovers took. It's Strata Florida in Wales, and it's VERY difficult.
And all the modern Range Rovers have independent suspension all around. But their electronics are incredible! You get amazing traction control.
In the UK it used to be a common thing to get hold of mki or mkii range rovers, strip them back to a chassis and build a mud plugger out of it. Big 3.5ltr V8, sturdy solid axles and spring suspension (compared to a land rovers leaf spring).
Another trick was to put the drive train/suspension onto a land rover instead, then you get the best of both.
"everyone" makes fun of the Land/Range Rovers, but the fact remains they are one best offroader you can get stock from the store, sharing podium with Jeeps and Landcruiser (i say LR/RR are a bit above stock).
The Range going up the steep hole (between 8 and 9 minutes) did it all by them selves, driver basically hangs on for dear life and a tad of steering. That Aussie climb is impressive as heck. You have to remember the RR is on stock low-profile Street tires!
Standard engine for defender were 2.5litre diesel in early models later an 2.2liter ford inline 4 diesel. Models were 90inch 3door 110inch 5door or 2door pickup and 130inch 4door pickup
My son has 2 landrovers - 1 usually in repair mode - He lives about 15 miles from the bomb hole (Strata Florida Abbey area) He doesnt slow down much going thru there (hence the repairs). Hehas laid them both on their sides in that area, and still driven home.
In general today most suv 4wds don’t have lockers, they use ABS and traction control.
The Mercedes “ML” class started it. The wheel in the air has the brakes applied in a pulse which puts drive to the wheel on the ground in a pulse which slowly shifts the car forward. It only applies brakes to the spinning wheel. You can see that happening on the rangie. The wheel in the air will spin then stop which puts the power to the grounded wheel.

I went on an off road 4x4 course when our Ambulance service got an off road emergency ambulance. It was terrifying! But I learned so much, they certainly brought any trust issues to the service.
Standard Range Rovers. I ran a standard 1972 Landrover Series 3 for 24 years off roading no problem. Now run a 84 Defender with 300 turbo diesel engine 2.5 litre. Great motors.

All my drillers at work use jacked up Defenders. I live in the british countryside and you commonly see jacked up rangerovers and landys with some more serious tyres on them, and older RRovers with bumpers removed. All are common farm vehicles here.
Had fun watching this. In europe and UK most of the land rovers are diesel. The popular engine is the td5 - a 2.5 litre 54 cylinder. The older engine is the 300tdi (or 200tdi is older) which are a much more robust and more easily repaired engine. The ranger over on the bomb hole is on one of the best off road routes in the UK known as strata florida in wales. Many people would tell you you need certain modifications but but none of them are required for the defenders or Range rovers. The modern Jeep I believe can trace its history back to the old Willys Jeep. Landrover Defenders can trace back to the Land rover series 1 which was built as a UK version of the Willys Jeep for use on farms. Ive driven a few jeeps and a lot of Landrovers. Quite a few Range Rovers are v8 petrol and some have a v8 diesel.

Off-roading in an old style V8 Range Rover is an awesome experience.
We have do few of these unsurfaced " green lanes", the 4x4 can churn them up for any other user and make then impassable.
