What does everyone think about this latest change, getting rid of Genie+ in favour of this new system?

Really, talk to people in the park, not just as the happy ones look around. A lot of marks in the parks hate what has happened to the parks, Gene minus, unless your a phone slave all day, who know the tricks just makes longer waits for the rest of the marks in the park. I no longer can call them guests, I would never treat a guest so poorly. Hundreds of times I talked to marks in the parks and they had know idea how to use what they paid extra for. From early entry to Gene-minus. I do not steel from guests or people I know, or strangers. But I was raised with morality which Corporations like Disney do not have. So here's to the marks in the parks...have you visited Universal? WCDB

@@kuhnology8803 honestly I get where you are coming from, but I can't get past the idea that you might be trying to make "marks in the parks" happen lol. I have been to Universal, and it has always been largely soulless with a much more expensive way to skip the lines. What sucks is that something that was free isn't free and now they are going back to a similar system without losing the extra cost again. That is something worthy of being upset about, but there are a lot worse options out there still, trust me. I live near a park that is open to the public with no rides, shows, stores or restaurants open... and there is still a charge to get in lol

Having a fast pass system is not a new idea - it has existed in most parks around the world for quite some time now and it's not going away. As someone who is headed to Disney very soon I can say that Genie+/LL is one of the least expensive aspects of the trip - think about how much a character dining experience (or any food for that matter) costs! Also most people are glued to their phones anyway with or without LL/Genie+. Personally I prefer having more control over my visit by avoiding long lineups and toddler meltdowns, and it's up to me to keep the scrolling to a minimum and accept what rides I'm offered. Rather than complaining about how things are not like they used to be, I like to focus on the changes - I like that this allows families a bit of planning control (and most families with young kids WILL be planning this to the 10th degree as I am). I just hope it's fair to everyone who purchases it. I am also OK with prioritizing people who stay at Disney resorts - they have a right to give perks to their own hotel guests, and in the future I will give a Disney hotel more consideration than I did this time.

Used to be FREE fast passes for everyone now have to pay...forget about it. I'll wait in normal lines which sucks, but not giving my $$$ away. I'm FL resident & get the cheapest annual pass when I do go. Thinking about going back next year. Haven't been since Covid & they ruined everything! Try going next year because my dad's in bad shape & I have no one to go with me long distance vacations, so going with my mom on day trips instead.

This is the first I'm hearing of these changes. Just when I had figured Genie+ out...I'm frustrated they are changing it again. I agree with the others that they should go back to free past passes, but I doubt it.
Your video was short, sweet and to the point, so good job on that and thanks for updating us!

Can someone confirm whether you need to actually be in the US to purchase the new Lightning Lanes? I heard that you do, which seems unfair for international visitors who may be trying to plan out a once-in-a-lifetime (and super expensive) trip.

I don't believe that's true. You can book as soon as long as you have a park reservation for the one and dated tickets for the other.

@@stephjant6461 yeah sadly I just confirmed this. There is time to make our feelings known about that.

So the family that just buys a single day ticket to visit DW and enters the Magic Kingdom only to find that their park entrance ticket is basically a 3rd class ticket and the wealthier people have already reserved their rides and there's only the endless low class line for them to stand in for the rides they thought they could ride. Walt would be embarrassed and ashamed of what the corporation has done to his magical vision. As an annual pass holder for many years, I'm saddened by how the magic of simply wandering in the parks and enjoying the moment has transitioned into scheduling appointments on one's phone. Just look at all the people walking around in a wonderful place, and missing the magic because they are looking down at their phones. Sad.

What is it that you don't like about the change compared to what is currently on offer? Not being argumentative, just curious about people's perspective on this.

This system seems better than the Genie Plus system

@@HTCTF101 It's a fair point but it was inevitable that Genie+ was going to happen when Universal got away with their system for so long and they definitely won't go back to free, but hopefully they will find a way to make it more of a benefit for people who are annual passholders and resort guests at least. This at least gives us back the ability to plan ahead.
