During Covid certain politicians was scaring people saying they are going to ban guns and take it away from you. What happened was an increase in gun sales in pro-gun states. NY gun laws work so well that these guns used in crimes where not brought legally or illegally in NY. They can be traced to a pro-gun state. So again the reason gun crimes happen in NY is because the criminal buys the gun from another criminal in a pro-gun state.

Escaped prisoner Skylar Meade and his accomplice Nicholas Umphenour have been recaptured after the two men coordinated a prison escape in Idaho on Wednesday, officials have said.
Meade had been serving a 20-year prison sentence for shooting a sheriff in a high-speed car chase at the time of his escape.
Umphenour allegedly shot two of the officers to help Meade break free. A third correctional officer was shot amid the chaos as backup arrived at the scene and mistook the officer for an armed individual.
The men were later reported to have been associates while spending time behind bars at the Idaho Department of Corrections (IDOC). Both had links to the same white supremacist gang.

I’ve lived in Bayswater which is one mile from where the Officer was killed. I bought my house in 2004 and have zero problems where I live. Granted I just pass through Mott Ave but again never had an issue. No cars in my area or house have been touched in the 20 years I have lived here. I often ride my Ebike up the the boardwalk and west to Riis Park, no one’s bothered me! And I’m a white older guy (58). Youthful looking I can pass for mid 40s but still……… it’s not as bad as people think. If you mind your business here and not get involved with whatever might be going on nobody bothers you.

They should ban the PBA from speaking at official press conferences. They’re to blame for putting rookie cops in the most dangerous situations, while the older officers get ridiculous amounts of overtime, pensions, retiree healthcare, etc… More dangerous situations require more experienced officers who are getting paid more, but no, the more experienced officers do the safer jobs while taking more from the taxpayers.

I drive down mott Abe to beach channel drive daily to work and come home around 12:45-1:30AM. No one has ever bothered me here. But as you said why put Rookie Cops in an area that’s known to have crime? I have literally seen these young baby face white Cops up on Mott Ave some under 25 many on their phones I mean come on!!!! In the blink of an eye shit can go down and split second decisions need to be made that can be life or death. Being on your phone spells DEATH!!! I often bike here and up to the boardwalk and my eyes and brain take in everything and at any moment I’m prepared if I get attacked or someone might be up to something I see it all! I constantly monitor my surroundings
I wanted to add I’ll bet 1/2 of them or more have never even seen a black person from where they live or grew up let alone know how to survive in a rougher area. The uniform doesn’t guarantee respect or compliance not in todays world due to bail reform and radical judges the Uniform actually makes Police targets for these dirt bags! Sad but true. You guys don't understand what you are saying. They are trained the same way. A veteran police officer would have died the same way. Car stops and domestics are the most dangerous jobs for a reason, because police get killed on them. You can't see hands properly from outside a vehicle. That's why they asked them to step out, and if one or both are motivated to open fire, there is good chance you will be hot from close distance. There are also plenty of cops with TOJ out on the streets, but most of them have paid their dues. The rookies have to learn out there as well. Instead of blaming cops, pensions and being jealous, direct your energy toward other so called "taxpayers" that keep calling to defund police and keep voting these losers into office. They, along with liberal judges are the real culprits.

The usual... 'He had a long criminal record'. In Philly, on 4-13-73, two punks (with long criminal records, so this shit ain't new), shot and killed Officer Lou Vasger. He was making a bar check at 1 AM, not knowing the bar was being robbed at the time. As he opened the door he was shot point blank in the head. There was no need of a trial, the punks were put in the past tense by officers that very night. Good police work, guys. We need more such justice.
