We've got two Alaskan Klee Kai called Copper and Skye. They've been part of our family for nearly three years now (starting with Skye). There are some things I wish I knew before getting a Klee Kai or before getting a puppy. It's been a gradual learning curve over the past couple of years. Although I wouldn't change a thing, I wanted to share with our subscribers some of the lessons that I've learned in the hope that it can help you prepare for your Alaskan Klee Kai or puppy.
I'd love to hear about your experiences with your Klee Kai or puppy. It's fascinating to hear the similarities and the differences between these mini huskies and other dogs in general.
I must point out that all Klee Kai and dogs are different. These lessons are based upon my experiences with my Klee Kai, Copper and Skye. If you've got a Klee Kai, you may have a different story to tell about life with your Klee Kai!

I have the cutest little AKK and he is a gem! No separation anxiety, eats no problem I feed him Blue Buffalo dry, just needs his walks/runs and loves his Maincoon kitty sister. He is lovable and great with animals and kids and other people.

At first I didn't think these dogs were real until I starting researching lol. They are so little and perfect.
Some of the this stuff is definitely in line with huskies. The reverse sneeze included... I never knew about it as I only really owned cats most of my life, so seeing my boyfriend's husky do that scared me. X.x She's very picky eater & grows tired of even home cooked... She knows her "grandma & grandpa" will give in and feed her whatever she wants if she refuses to eat so she's known for making things difficult to eat "bad" meals.. Aka she's just like a child & you have to be strong lol.

Got a Belgian Malinois mix but enjoy watching these little cuties.
Our Loki turns one next week. I knew of the separation anxieties so he’s always got someone with him. We are a big family, he’s our little boy. We love him to bits. We might get him a baby brother if the breeder does another litter. Picky eater yes...but he loves duck lol. The sneezes are crazy. Hugs from Calgary Canada. 🤗

What would you recommend to do with AKK in the summer? I’m probably going to get one in a few years and I am curious how they deal with heat. It’s relatively cold nine months of the year here but it does get warmer in the summer. What would you recommend to do?
man these were serious tips! i thought you were going to list off 5 things that would only make me want them more. what do you think about pairing them up with another type of dog? i love rat terriers, but i think i'd be good with a klee kai too...
What's the name of the music when you start the video?
What did you do to help their anxiety. I just adopted a two year old Klee Kai and he barks and howls the entire time I am gone. I live in an apartment so I want to fix this as soon as I can. I know it’s a process, but I will take as much advice as I can get!

Hi I hope your AKK is better with his anxiety. It might sound silly but every time I need to leave the house I have an area where I confined my AKK & I leave the tv on a youtube channel playing relaxing music for dogs. There's so many of those videos & he cries at first but the music calms him & usually he fall asleep.

Question: What types of health issues have you encountered with your dogs?
My klee kia, Shadow had a bad knee at a year and a half..but its a problem with a lot of small dogs apparently

I have a purebred Klee Kai and shes been healthy as ever. Shes almost a year and a half. She gets A LOT of exercise though. I take her almost on daily hikes 2-3miles average. Shes in great shape.
A sensitive stomach, and health issues form my dog eating random stuff she found of the ground, nothing else really
Hiya! I have a very friendly Labrador retriever who LOVES huskies but we don’t have the space for another large dog! Do Alaskan Klee Kais get along with Labrador Retrievers? Is this a good companion match? Our lab LOVES to play. Our lab also have separation anxiety so hoping a Klee Kai will help ease that when we do leave the house.
I asked a breed group about klee kai and got yelled at by someone unfamiliar with the breed for saying I'd prefer to get a pair...

What is the food you feed them?
My Klee Kai likes taste of the Wild with Ancient grains, but you can also make easy dog food at home if you have an instant pot!
