Oh, BTW, NEVER run the Svartpilen out of gas. I did this on purpose, while having a jerry can of gas with me, so I could know roughly how many KMs to empty when the fuel light goes on (I do this with all my vehicles). When it ran out of gas I topped it up with a gallon of gas and tried to start it but it would not start no matter what I tried. It turns out that it developed an air pocket/lock in the fuel pump and it wouldn't let the gas flow down from the tank (stupid design - turns out the 390 Duke people and some of the 390 ADV have known this for years). I had to TAKE THE GAS TANK OFF to purge the air pocket so fuel could start flowing again. If you think you are getting low on fuel better to stop and walk or push the bike to a gas station if you can, otherwise you could have a major problem on your hands that sucks to solve at the side of the road. Why they don't have a self priming fuel pump or a reserve type petcock valve on this bike is beyond me...
@@michaelstewart9308 I find that the fuel mileage can vary quite a bit, especially since I have the FuelX Pro for closed loop fueling and the Race Dynamics v4 for open loop spark and fueling. On another note I recently unintentionally ran it out of gas, maybe not as bad as the first time, or maybe because I straightened the fuel lines under the tank that are connected to the fuel filter better before putting the tank back on, but it started without issues once I added fuel to the tank.
meant to bend the spout and put the tip in the tank, then tip the the can up. it will only fill the tank until the level rises to the spout tip depth. then lower the can while keeping the spout tip in the tank, bending the spout, and then remove the spout carefully.
Lol. Everytime I try to do something I drop something. We must be related. Actually I think it's that my hand has to reacquaint itself with anything that is not a mouse or a keyboard every so often and that is part of the issue.
On the Svartpilen 401 Super Marauder (czcams.com/video/rccHU6rSg0k/video.html) I use the 1 Gallon Giant Loop Armadillo bag and I strap it to the tank rack using 25 inch Sea to Summit Stretch-loc straps (these are better and far cheaper than the Giant Loop pronghorn straps). The bag fits perfectly, although I have handlebar risers, keeps the weight centered on the tank, is right where you need it to fill and empty it, color looks great, and it is less likely to come into contact with the ground if I dump the bike. I have set the Super Marauder up for long distance ability aka Maurading 😉. Happy trails!
@@bikesonabudgetjapan thanks, it's a seat cover I got on Ali-express and modded it to fit. I think the same style one for the Ducati desert x might work without modding.

Good tip. Thanks
Very glad I saw this as I was planning to do the same thing. Do you remember how far you got before running dry?
@@tysonbowles315 I don't remember, but I recall it not lasting very long, maybe 20 kms...
Ok, seems like the best option is to calculate how many km/l you get and multiply that by 9.5 to find out the maximum range

Keep these videos coming,,loved it ..looking at funnels now lol
Very wholesome video keep it up
Thank you kindly
Good video. I’m considering something bigger than my 887ml emergency bottle.

Good tip. Thanks. I'll give that a go next time. 👍
great mod, I'm thinking the same mod for my svartpilen too. The fuel range is killing me on road trips.
Hope it works out for you. I can get the fuel in without spilling now.:-)
Hi
thanks for the great vid.. what is that tail bag.. how is it. do you recommend it and where can i get one :)
Sorry but it's just something I found at the second hand store. I only bought it because it was cheap. It's okay but nothing special.

Nice mods on your bike. I like the seat.
