Thank you for posting! Mine arrived today from EBay with Chinese instructions, but good pictures. The little details like the gromits really help. I feel confident to fit mine now 🎉
Hope it works out for you.
other than aesthetics, I don't think it will do much if any to wind resistance on the rider
Yep.
I’m with you the older model has way more charm… But would love to have the new Tek on it. Great review thanks for putting it out there! 👍🏼😎👍🏼
Thanks. You're welcome.
loved the video! it was a comedic masterpiece & very well informative 🙏🏼
Thanks.
this doesn't look safe
Depends on your country I guess. Good enough for Japan.
Me encanta el modelo anterior. El diseño muy neo conservando las particularidades de una moto retro corta y aguil. Sería genial poder adaptarles cosas de las 2024 como, la pantalla, el exosto y la suspensión delantera.
You are not alone.
Im curious if it works with grab handle included
I don't think so. The brackets would have to go under the grab handle and then the plastics would get damaged when you tighten the bolts. You also couldn't get the seat on. The carrier is actually better to grab onto if you are a passenger because it's further back.
Hi, Thanks for this. Can you recommend few Motorcycle rental shops in Tokyo ? Any website that is trust worthy?
Search "Rental819" on Google maps in the area of Tokyo you want to be. It will give you a list with lots of reviews.
what are those vans shoes called you wear???
Vans high-cuts. They aren't sold anymore. They aren't very good for motorcycle riding anyway. I'll be doing a full review including on-road and off-road performance in the near future. 😜
did purchase from xitomer for my svart, add on rear box. sacrificing looks for practicality. which I am ok with it ( no more troublesome of tightening bag, which usually waste quite sometime)
Did you go with plastic or aluminum for the box?
Seen both in the dealer, the old version looks much better and bigger than the new one. The new one is not anymore special but looks like other ordinary bikes
Pienso exactamente igual!
What do you think about using two 22liter toolboxes as sideboxes?
I've seen that. Very clever if you have the skills to make it work. The most important thing for me is that they attach and detach quickly.
Oh my you're the best!
Does it works with a case?
Yes. You can definitely put a case on there. There are plenty of holes to mount it. I don't think it will take much weight though.
Great vid, looking forward to your video of the installation of the charger! Cheers
Greetings from Germany, I have just bought the 2023 and am waiting for delivery. In the meantime I'm looking for useful mods and came across your channel! Great content, more of it please.
Congratulations on your purchase. I hope you'll be as happy as I am. The next video will be an overview of all the mods I have done and my opinion about the bike after one year.
I like that classic GSX50 in the background (4;42)
I should have featured him.
Funny enough I just bought these lights for my 2021 svartpilen 401. Where do you think would be the best place to attach the white wire to?
I'd be interested to see how they look on the svartpillen. Not sure where to put the white wire on the Svart'. I'll have a look when I get back to Japan.
@@bikesonabudgetjapan awesome, yeah I'm curious as well. The svartpilen already has a pretty decent headlight, but can't complain on having more visibility and being more visible
It looks like a piece of corn on top of the shit
I do like corn. Perhaps your comment was lost in translation. Thanks for the comment anyway 🙂.
Well done. Any good rides in the Kawasaki area?
I lived there for a while. Kawasaki isn't really known for its scenic rides. It's more of a place you want to ride away from. Please let me know if you find anywhere good.
What’s the mpg
Haven't really measured it myself but this site seems to give some numbers: www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/husqvarna/svartpilen_401/2023
Agreed I prefer the look of the older model.
you talk like an ai
That's an insult to AI.
it is a good day when Bikes on a Budget upload
I love the mud hugger, do you guys think a mechanic can help me put it on the newer model?
Interesting idea but sounds like more trouble than it's worth.
Is it really possible to crush the plastic? Seems like it had a fairly solid base that wont get hurt by the pressure from the screws. If you think so, I may go back to it and add some thick washers as well, as the spacers were not possible to use for this purpose. I used the spacers between the cargo plate and the two mounts that go on the bike, just to raise it up a bit. And my cargo plate was also mounted upside down from how you put yours on in the video, so the bent part of the plate facing the driver, is sloping down towards the pillion seat. Without the spacers, I could not remove my seat (I have a Vitpilen, which has a one piece seat), but with the spacers between the plate and the plate arms, it is raised up by JUST enough to unlock the seat, slide it back and then take it out. Also, having the bend down gives you a good transition between the pillion seat and the plate. I intend to have a 40L sit with the front half on the pillion seat and the other half on the cargo plate. It's to me the only orientation that makes sense, and the only orientation that works due to where the straps are located. Also, my body blocks all the wind so the bag won't catch any.
Thanks for the detailed comment. I really think spacers are necessary to replace where the grab handle went. Maybe your bike is different but on my bike, the grab handle didn't touch the plastics. I didn't see the point of putting the spaces under the main plate but I guess you are right that it would make it easier to take the seat off. I really wanted the carrier to be as level as possible with the seat. I might change things around now I've read how you did it.
@@bikesonabudgetjapan Guess I'll go make some adjustments later so I don't risk damaging the plastic! I was careful not to tighten things down too hard, but it would definitely give me some peace of mind if there is only metal on metal contact and nothing else. Oh and as for the original bolts, Vitpilen does not come with a grab handle so the bolts under the seat is some special flat kind that's only meant to cover the screw holes and hold the plastics in place. They were not usable for mounting the cargo plate, so I had to find replacement screws to mount it.
@@bikesonabudgetjapan I went ahead and moved the spacers down to the arms that go on the bike. I had to take an 8mm drill bit to them so the screws would pass through. I feel much better about this installation now. i.imgur.com/0s1NgI2.jpg
@@bikesonabudgetjapan I went ahead and moved the spacers down to the two arms that attach to the bike frame. I had to drill them out with an 8mm drill bit, but that only took like 10 seconds per spacer at most, no big deal. Now I feel much better about my installation. I would attach a picture, but CZcams does not seem to like links in comments.
Hope the plastics were okay.
I had the clutch cover come with a used svartpilen. Uninstalled. And after watching this. Thats the way its going to stay. Thank you
You're very welcome.
Personally option on What husky needed to do instead of coming up with a lazy designed bike. keep the exact same design, but put in a bigger oil tank, extend the bike size like the 2024 model and thats it. Seat heights, display don’t matter. Agreed?
No Sir, I do not agree. I think people who are unsure or dont like the new one should watch a video detailing everything that they did with the 2024. Design wise? Its subjective of course but to me theyre sorta interchangeable. Love the cool modern look...on both.
great content, thank you! appreciate the little every day details you provide. still love everything about this bike, wish i grabbed one when i had the opportunity! the older styling is much cleaner imho, if i end up with a new one first change will be a tall tidy kit lol! thanks again for the video!
1. How big of difference is there regarding the stance and stability of the new 2024 Svartpilen versus previous models driving on the highway? My commute involves getting on the highway. 2. As far as price goes, would you recommend buying a new 2024 Svartpilen stock or buying a previous model used and then adding a FuelX Lite, K&N air filter, DNA air filter cover, plus protection mods? I am in the States where there are less restrictions.
Sounds like the new model might be the best for you. It's a little bigger and a little more stable. A naked bike on the highway is fun but can get tiring. I get a sore neck after about an hour because you have a lot of wind blasting on your helmet. The 2024 model also has a wider, more comfortable seat. It will be interesting seeing what kind of aftermarket parts become available for it.
I got no instructions at all which is why I am watching your video !
Glad I could help.
yep im in love with my 2022 model svart. dont need much tech.
Love the new svart. You should check the new svart 801 coming out soon
I got a Xitomer rack and side racks, and i fitted a givi plate on it to install a givi box. They work great for me, and it gives me lots of strapping options for camping
Thanks for the tip. I might get the xitomer rack too.
@@bikesonabudgetjapan It didn't quite fit on my 2019 since it is made for the later models, but I was able to make it fit easily.
is the 2024 model more off road capable than the older?
Maybe a little. Higher ground clearance.
@@bikesonabudgetjapan and suspensions no difference?
Not really. Different angle on the rear shock but couldn't really feel anything different.
Solid video dude!
what abt the shifting to neutral problem? solved on the 2024 model? and oil leaking?
The bike has only just been released so there aren't any reports of oil leaks (yet?). Neutral seems to be a bit easier but it isn't really a problem on the older models once you get used to it.
ist that the 2023 model? How about the changes in the 2024 model?
czcams.com/video/dRBeuTm6bBA/video.htmlsi=HxYAbOmjDNLF3D8m
Thanks for taking the time to make the video. I hate the look of the new bike.
I think the new bike looks okay. It's just not as attention-grabbing as the old model.
i would like to know how the two compare around corners and when leaning
Haven't really tried that but I guess the lower seat height would make the new model more "lean friendly." Hasn't been an issue on the older model.
Newbie here. I will get a Honda, but Svartpilen 401 still makes me want to click on the video.
😂
If you're as obsessed with the Svartpilen as I am... this is hands down the best channel on YT. I'm thinking I might get the 2023 instead of the 2024 just so that I can buy some of your mods. Many thanks, friend.
That's very kind.
Excellent comparison! Many thanks.
You're very welcome.
Nice to see some riders in my old "hood". I used to live in Mito/Ibaraki for a couple of years and took my bike to many places in Japan. Ibaraki is kind of okayish for a ride, especially the northern part where you have waterfalls, mountains and winding roads. 819 rental is a professional place and they do helmets, gloves and other riding gear as well. Better check with them in advance. I was back riding in Japan in 2019 and a friend and I rented two V-Stroms 650 from the Odaiba 819 shop and took them out for three weeks. 819´s service was excellent, the rentals (bikes and gear) was in immaculate condition. In the meantime there are, as mentioned in the vid, some more rental places but probably not all speak English, so check out before you go. A very nice area to go are the Japanese Alps and also around Mt. Fuji. People who are blessed with more time, might want to explore the Tohoku-area (nothern part of the main island of Honshu) and/or Hokkaido (during the hot summer time). Or go and cross the main island of Honshu and check out Sadoga-shima. It´s a very beautiful ride and on Sadoga-shima the atmosphere is really laid back and nice. Shikoku is another highlight. Oh man, I could go on forever...Bikers´ paradise...
