Are World Athletics going to give athletics fans a heads up to why Jacob Ingebrigtsen wasn't included? Breaking 2 of the most iconic WR's this Season and a World title and a Silver (with illness) and apart from that silver, unbeaten all season.
You're absolutely right!
While I agree he should be a finalist, “2 of the most iconic WR’s” is a bit of a stretch. He set the two world best times in distances that aren’t run competitively anymore, apart from them being put on for him to break the records this year.
@@ChairmanAntelope They are World Records, If the IAAF want to classify them now as world best times due to changes in the current menu they now deem relevant is to an athletics fan irrelevant. They are Iconic because of the ATHLETES who were the previous holders of the records and their status in the history of middle and long distance athletics, not set by some obscure athlete from the 1950's and easy pickings in the modern era because of the infrequency the distances are now run, but taken from the current WR holders for the 1500m/Mile and 3000m. As a PS, It's not because he would be my pick (that would be Kelvin Kiptum (for me)), but for him not to be nominated is beyond belief!
@@ChairmanAntelope Hicham El Guerrouj is to middle distace what Bolt is for sprinting. Except he did it decades ago. Only just over 1600 people on planet earth have broken 4 min for a mile and only 2 broke twice consecutively and Jakob did it with a huge margin. No one thought people could break 7.59 for 2 mile. Any middle distance athlete knows 1500, 1 mile, 2 mile are the toughest to break.
He ran so so close to break two more world records with mile and 3000m in the diamond league finals within 24 hours. No middle distance runner can attempt that right now. Shows how fit he is and how quickly he was able to recover between races. Running that 3K that fast in itself is incredibly challenging but he did after running 3:43.73 for the mile all while being only 22.
To me that is far more impressive than breaking marathon WR. The winner should either be Noah or Jakob.

Broke Euro record in 1500m, Mile and 3000m and broke World records in 2000m and 2 Miles, and likely to be Euro Cross country champion as well… and he did this all in one season.

Nobody have has done this since the GOAT javelin thrower Jan Zelezny. Track athletes generally are more popular, so taking into consideration, this definitely puts him into the contetions.
