    Had a few “aha!” moments there. Could listen to your niece’s lovely voice all day. Obviously a quick learner. Thanks for a great video.

    So THAT’S why my paper never started wet enough or me to attempt wet-on-wet. I never wetted it for more than it took to get glossy because all the tutorials I watched and the books I read said to not wet the paper too much or it would develop puddles. I never realized that just meant to not add too much water and not that we shouldn’t work on the paper for longer than it took to get glossy. Thank you again. I’ve been binging your videos for the value you provide and you never disappoint. And thank you Lucile for your help in the video because from you, I realized a few more of my mistakes.

      Thank you so much! Yes it took me a while too to understand why my paper always dried too fast 🙂

    Hot press is used for light layers or detailed work, it also tends to show off granulated paints better.

    This was extremely helpful. So much information packed into a (much appreciated) shorter video than most explaining these concepts. Soothing and straight to the point.

    Absolutely wonderful explanations for a beginner such as me. Thank you so much for putting your first ever attempt in a video for all to see, it truly makes a difference. An artist can no longer demonstrate something a beginner may do because their experience never allows them to fully remember what it felt like, or the exact errors made.

    My only question if ur adding layers how do u wet the paper again w.o activating the paint underneath?

    • @paintingandchocolate
      @paintingandchocolate  Před 2 lety

      Thank you for your feedback. When i rewet i dont press nor do too much nack and forth, it should be quicker to rewet painted paper than when the paper is paint free. These paints dont lift very easily, others might but in general don't insist too much.i hope this helps !

    • @paintingandchocolate

      Could be the paper type (lower end, cellulose papers) or you use thick paint and it has a hard time to flow.

    How wet can you get the paper before it warps and ruins it? I'm always afraid to wet it much.

    • @paintingandchocolate
      @paintingandchocolate  Před 3 lety

      If it's one that deals with water well don't be afraid, even other papers can take a certain amount easy. For it not to warp too much the masking tape helps but still you might need to flatten it after it's dry (dampen the back lightly and let the painting sit underneath a pile of books)
