QOTD: Which watercolour technique do you struggle with the most? 💕
Kirsty Partridge Art smooth gradient, Amazing Artwork btw💙
Dry brushing definitely
Drybrushing and gradients. I don't know why, but those are my weaknesses. And because I have general issues because og my disabilities, I'm even more frustrated with the things that's going to be my killers. And I love watercolor, so I'm so upset.
Wet on wet technique. I really struggle controlling the amount of water. I guess i should practice a lot. 😢 Well anyway, another great video from you. Thanks!
Kirsty Partridge Art, even using Arches watercolor paper my paper dries too quickly. Love your videos :)
This girl is not only seriously talented but a fantastic teacher for those of us only setting out. Thank you so much Kirsty!
That deer is simply STUNNING!!!! You are so talented!
Thanks so much 🙏🏻
Kirsty Partridge Art
No, thank you!!! 😁 Because of watching your tutorials, I have been inspired to buy some watercolors and learn how to paint. Your tutorials have proven to be invaluable to a complete beginner!!
I agree
me : hmm... not enough water, *throw's a bucket on paper*, ah nice smooth edges
GoshBabe • me 24/7
@@x_ivaa Indeed, my friend. Same xD
😂
Hahaha
Hahaha 🤣🤣🤣
8:50 I think that is a great technique, if you want to paint something, that is in the distance.
I was just thinking that, it gives that nice sort of distance blur, like for branches that wouldn’t be in focus. Then the ones in front would be painted dry and it’d give depth?
I guess it’d have to be painted in a less obvious colour than the items in the foreground though (but I’m still learning).
You just made me fall in love with watercolours again! 😍 Thank you. Also, knowing you’re a self taught artist is really wonderful. Thank you for this video xxx
All of these are incredibly useful for in my art and junk journals. I mix lovely watercolour paper with scrapbook papers and upcycle book pages and paint on all of them. I need all of this advice....and from the look of it some new brushes too! Thanks Kirsty❣️ joie 🌿😀
I am 36 and this is the first time I've felt like I could work beautifully with watercolors! Thank you so much for posting this. I'm definitely subscribing!
I followed this, and it came out like pooh. So I did more searching and found a different video about things that can go wrong with watercolors. I had cellulose, no size, and it was rough!
So I went to the craft store and got cotton, sized with gelatin, and cold pressed. THEN it worked!!
So, between two videos, I finally learned how to get the dreamy watercolor I've always wanted to make.
YES. This is what I've been looking for. Especially with wet on wet. Thank you! I'll be sharing this with friends
The finished piece is just beautiful. I've recently started learning watercolour, so I'll be signing up to your patreon right now. Thank you!
Very helpful video. Watercolor is a new medium for me and I am still learning the different techniques. I love how you painted the background and used the salt to create texture. 😄
Really helpful for wet in wet information. I love the different textures you demonstrated in this video. Thank you!
I did enjoy this video! What I found most instructive was probably the way you alternate between the exercises and the real artwork (which is so beautiful).
Thank you for another amazing video! Your tips are always so helpful and you explain everything so well, I love to watch your videos ! A thumbs up Is so totally deserved!!!
This is stunning.. from this I learned a lot and understood how wrongly I am using watercolors..😊
Good explanations. Thank you.😁 My biggest problem in drawing is to draw shadows. I often use paynes grey or darker colours. If you can explainthis it will be very helpful.
I just love your advice and can’t wait till I have enough time to apply it
The very first things on the wet on wet technique and I'm already saying, "Ohhhh, that's what I doing wrong!"... Thanks for the tutorial! 💖
Wet on wet can definitely be one of the trickiest watercolour techniques 😊
You're a wonderful person, your art is amazing, keep up the good work. And thank you for the explanation.
Omg I LOVE that painting so much
hi,as a beginner to watercolors, its lovely to get tips from an artist like yourself, loved watching your DEER painting,as that's my favourite wild animal,I have learned so much after just one watch,I will keep practicing, thank you.
Amazing and helpful video Kirsty. I am definitely still improving my watercolour skills 😊👍🏻🌸
Wonderful ideas as ever Kristy! Thanks you for your continued support of us out here in youtube land! Your approach is refreshing and direct You are a delight to watch and listen to, Please know you are appreciated and treasured!
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I am really happy you liked the video 💕
Very sound and sensible advice. Keep painting, and making these videos, so people can learn.
Even your "Don'ts" look pretty 😆
Turns out there’s a little more to the salt technique than what you showed. I threw the salt on and it didn’t do anything right away so I let it sit. After some time it actually did exactly what you said it would do but then the salt was wet and when I tried to brush it off it redeposited some color in places I didn’t want it. So I try to second one that I’ll just leave it on there until it dries... nope... it became one with the paper. I spent half the morning chipping the salt off of the paper surface.
And i wish she had said which kind of paper is better for it....normally she is much more informative....maybe theres another vid where she splains it
Thank you for sharing your tips! I’ve been painting for a while and got some great reminders here
Excellent video. Thank you for sharing yours expertise!
This tutorial is very helpful for me. I always face problems with blending water colours on the background. Thank you 😊
Great tutorial, very helpful thank you! Your work is beautiful!
Wonderful tutorial Kristy. I especially appreciated the gouache tip, very helpful thank you
Lovely painting Kirsty, great video and tips 😘
Thank you! This was very helpful! I am trying to learn how to paint with watercolors and I appreciate your advice here!
You are so talented! 💛 Thank you for sharing your wisdom!
Definitely gorgeous 💖
I wish I had watched this before my painting class :')
Wonderful video your warm demonstration helps unravel the things we are doing wrong. I look forward to more videos please do one on cheaper water colours and how to get good results. Your work is breath taking. Thank you for helping.😊
Super specific & helpful advice! Thanks! 🥰
I love your videos, got me into watercolor painting again after 10 years. I even made a video following your wet-in-wet tutorial from last time :)
I am not a watercolor person but, these videos are really helpful! If u could make a video about burnishing skin, 'cause at times we have to add different layers of colors, so when we finally burnish, the skin tone that we were looking for is not there. Thank u for reading! BTW, u and ur videos leave me speechless because the way you explain is just amazing!
Thank you so much for sharing your time and talent I've learned so much ♥️have a blessed day
These are wonderful tips. I will start premixing my colors. I didn't think about that.
You explain techniques wonderfully! TFS!!!
Please make a Polychromos vs. Luminance Colored Pencils
You are amazing....I don't even know where to begin. I feel I need "natural talent" to paint.
Okay, but to be all honest here, that last "don't" 5:05 with all the green actually looks pretty cool. It's like you're looking down at a jungle.😁😊
Thank you for the tutorial by the way, your art is absolutely beautiful!💖😆💖
This is beautiful. Thank you for sharing!!
Thanks for the info! Lol, I actually found that the don'ts work to achieve the effects I was looking for. This video also made me think that making some technique sample cards would be helpful. Again thanks for the video. Have fun and good luck everyone!
Oh i so love this deer painting!
Of the mediums you use; what is your favorite? And wich medium do you find the hardest and wich the easiest to use?
Watercolor is my favourite. I find coloured pencil to be one of the hardest mediums to use because it is so time consuming and is a long process to layer and blend the pencils 😊 for me charcoal is the easiest medium to use, but that is just my opinion
Good info
Going from light to dark. Anybody who colors with inks already knows this is a must.
I don't use it as much with paint since it's a bit more forgivable. Paint can be lightened (to a point) but ink it set once it's put.
I'm going to try some of these with my inks.
Still getting used to using all coloring mediums. From simple crayola crayons, fine wax colored pencils, watercolor & acrylic paint, copic marker, ink.
Some of the mixed pieces I've seen are absolutely unbelievable.
Thanks for the tips! The experiment continues!
This is ever so much helpful as I have more experience with oils and have been trying to understand as well as learn to copy cat some of the professionals such as yourself. When I fail, yes, I want to know why. Your communicating this is very helpful. Thank you very much. It does encourage me to want to try again.
* Does something "wrong" *
* Still looks sick af *
I am jealous of your talent! You can paint so well!!
Great tutorial! Thank you! ☺️
Thank you so much for making a simple do's and don't s video! I am very new to watercolor (Jan 2019) I was wondering why my colors didn't spread nicely and I was doing the very first don't! Your artwork is very beautiful, thank you for sharing ;P
Yay i’m finally kinda esrly! Love your vids
Really liked the information about Gouache.Thank you
You are my best art teacher ♥️
Thank you for this lovely video =) i might try out one of your tutorials one day 😄
Great info and lesson. Lots of valuable information to help me out. Loved it. You are amazing. Thanks so much for sharing.
Thank you very much, I’m happy that you liked it 😊
I loved this video so much! Most people when they make videos like this, just say “stop doing that, that is ugly. Instead do this, it is much prettier” without explaining shit. You did really explain, and it was very helpful. Thank you!
This video has shown me how much more I have to learn.
Wow. Your art is so beautiful. Great video.
I love your videos and you teach me so much! Thanks a million for making these videos, they are lifesavers.
I'm on your patreon as well, and what you have there is equally as important for me learning to watercolor. I've always loved this medium, but you are really making me better.
Line B it’s my pleasure! I’m really glad you find them useful. I really appreciate your support on patreon as well 🥰 I hope you continue to learn lots from my videos 😊
@@KirstyPartridgeArt in sure I will. You have been such an inspiration - and will continue to be so. I'm Danish, had meningitis 9 years ago today and it fried my brain and caused a lot of damage. You keep me trying and having my paternal grandfather leave me his set of watercolors makes me love watercolor even more. So thank you so much ❤️
I actually think they all look great! I think I might even use some of these "DON'TS" because they look lovely :)
Wow you are so talented. That’s so beautiful 😍
I love the salt technique. Thank you for sharing !
Love your work!
Very useful tips thank you!
Just trying out watercolors. This was very helpful. 👍❤️
Great, informative video. Thanks, Kirsty!
I’m glad you liked it 😊
Wonderful video! Thanks for sharing your advice 🙂💖
Just lovely!
Such a beautiful painting
Very helpful tutorial ❤️❤️
Even the 'dont's' look beautiful!
Camilo Pensa I thought so too!
I like watercolours cuz even if you fail it can still look cool, but at the same time if you fail big time, there is no turning back 🙈 So it's a forgiving and unforgiving medium. I have to say though, I have always loved watercolour paintings
Oh my Gosh! your videos are the best! I love your watercolor paintings and I listen to much with you! I'm from Brasil :)
U don't understand how much I luv ur vids 😍😍
helpful! I love your artworks :) well I dont know enough english but it still helps. Love you:)
What a beautiful painting 💜 very helpful tips too
Thank you 😊
I love you draw this rain and everything is goood like super super super good!
The deer painting is gorgeous.
I just dump all the colours on the canvas. Job done.
Good advices! Thank you very much!
Your deer painting is gorgeous!
Great content, just subscribed! ♥
very helpful video !!! Thank you very much!
Thank you for some good, basic tips.
This video was helpful,💕 Thank you!
Love your tutorials. I sometimes loose my sketch when I try this. Do you apply fixative of some sort to retain your sketch.
Art By Connie Dawn Hey! This is from my personal POV but I have found that hairspray works. Spray it over your pencil sketch let it dry and begin painting. This works on canvas and paper so it’s good for basically any medium. This is just a quick fix that can be cheaper and easier to find then fixative. Anyway have fun!
thats such a beauitiful painting
I love it! This inspired me.
I went a little crazy at a local art store's sale (everything painting wise was 50% off wowie!) And over eager me accidentally bought a huge water color canvas among the other ones I picked out and well I can't waste it, not having very much experience with water color or not, so this video will hopefully help me create something worthy of my mistaken purchase :3
So much talent, omg
It was really useful video for me I improved my drawing skills
this is super useful to me thanks
your vids always very helpful
Hi Kirsty! Love your tips and tricks--thank you! Love your accent too,! A friend here who grew up in Manchester says that you have a different kind of several British accents, yours, cockney I think she said? Are you from this area too? I've never been, but the Cadbury is enough incentive! Thanks! Love your work for one SO very young! Wow! You must have started when you were 3!
Thank you so much i learn a lot off things from your art work 😍😀
For some reason i keep coming back to your channel..so i subscribed to your channel..👍
