Giant Abandoned MILLIONAIRES MANSION w/ Things Still Left Behind, IS SOMEONE INSIDE WITH US?

  • This beautiful mansion was built in the early 1900s, with construction beginning on it in the late 1890s. During its life this mansion was owned originally by a very prominent and wealthy Pennsylvania family. Until eventually being sold to a church in the 1940s where it was used for multiple different purposes and also an orphanage for some time. In its final decades this mansion was used as and old folks home/ retirement care facilities where old people with disabilities like Alzheimer's received daily care and treatment staying in the mansion. Which is probably why all of the restrooms toilets had bars next to them to assist the elderly and also would explain the sign that I found towards the end of the video about Alzheimer's care. The place closed in the early 2000s and has sat decaying away for the last few decades. A truly beautiful mansion and also historic for its owners and famous architect who built it.

**I never did find out what the loud bang was, it could've been another person but It also could have been some ceiling coming down
I DO NOT STEAL OR VANDALIZE, I only take pictures and video and only go in if it's already open , I do not give out locations to prevent further vandalism to these historic places! Always get permission if possible!
Thanks for watching everyone. Hope you enjoy it! Make sure to like and sub if you haven't already so you know when my next videos out, Thanks!!!(:

I have a strong suspicion about the reason it was finally abandoned. I was in construction from about 1999-2011, and during that time, even existing commercial dwellings had to retrofit sprinkler systems. I tried to carefully observe during your excellent slow pan work, whether there were sprinklers. I saw none, though it's obvious the required smoke detectors had been added. 2003 or so would likely be the late end for Code Compliance, and the cost is very prohibitive. Did you see the peeling paint on the Oven? To me, that's an obvious sign of a fire inside that oven. The stove area is fitted for fire safety, though it too may not have been up to code? I can imagine the investment group that owned the building and likely leased it to the Care Home, decided to close it rather than retrofit. It would likely have cost upwards of $250k. Perhaps a $1/2-Million. That's a hefty chunk of money for one system in a home that likely required a large ongoing maintenance budget.

Yes where is it, I always love to get online and see what these big mansions history is, especially since it’s clear it was some sort of housing for elderly folks. I understand the stance to keep the location private, but maybe you could list the town/state and we can find out the rest? At least with these massive structures that must have a past worth learning about. I absolutely love his videos, I have always had a connection to old abandoned places…..if walls could talk. Thank you for such interesting tours!

Beautiful grand home but so sad.. At one point, someone had a lot of money.. Built a big grand house... Future generations did not have the amount of money required to keep up such a huge home.. And so it slowly starts dying... Wish there was some way to keep these old places up. We are losing a piece of history every time one falls apart. Thanks for sharing!!

What I would really like to know is WHY were these places just "abandoned", let go and then just seemingly totally be wiped off a family's radar. I have a feeling that there's way more to the story than what meets the eye. Your channel is fantastic, thanks for sharing!

    • @nadinemasteller1089
      @nadinemasteller1089 Před 3 lety +2

I expect that the cost of upkeep is the reason so many of these places are abandoned. Plus my parents generation didn't appreciate the history and architecture of these places. Those that came home from WW2 wanted new and modern homes. I heard this repeatedly from family members. My parents had an old home and ripped out so much of what was beautiful because it wasn't modern. My Dad even burned some antiques and mantles. It broke my heart as a kid and still does.

At count 12:50 on this video, in the background audio, it sounds like there is a whispering voice. Eerie.

I suspect that the long low addition, was an office complex added much later.

Not sure why they would use panelling in the other part of the house, but I would assume it's cheaper and less maintence. This is such a awesome find!! The wood work is so beautiful in this place!! The staircase is amazing as well! Thank you so much for sharing this explore with you, so awesome!! Happy New Year Kappy!!

This place is quite something. It was a bit hard to see in those dark areas you were filming. The halls are extremely wide. The staircase is spectacular. Looks more like a palace. I can imagine what this place used to look like. This would make a great posh Hotel.

It looks like it could have been a residence with some type of business attached to it at some point, prior to it becoming an old folks home. Also, who spray paints graffiti in a chapel? Sad. Thanks for sharing!

Marble slabbed countertops-that's for serious baking! Keeps the dough cool, when working w it.
Was this place a biz (exit sign)?
    Great find!!!👍👍👍

Aside from a display of wealth, large homes were built to provide a place for visiting family and friends to stay. Hotels and motels were often far away for visitors. Of course this home was adapted to other uses before being abandoned.

WOW imagine growing up as a child here. Playing chase, hide n seek, or even tag running up and down the hall ways. Or even how grand the holidays were here way back in the days. This is a beautiful mansion to say the least. All the marble and lights grand wood work just everything. I hope they do restore this to its beginning glory. Wow again. Have and great day

Looks like the roof was compromised on this place. I wonder if it still remains standing today, or if it has been demolished by 2021. It is amazing how fast a place can fall apart.
