I'm sure you already know that Juneau is unique among the 50 capital cities, in that it's the only one which has no highway access. You can drive from Mendenhall Glacier to the docks--maybe 20 miles. The reason is that it's located on a strip of land that's up against the very rugged Coastal Mtns., and the other side is the Inside Passage. So, the residents have to fly or take the AK State Ferry to get anywhere.
We do also have glaciers here, but that's just on another level.
