That's the thing that makes their budget so insane! What are they even doing at Max? This has been an absolute hit for them. I know the fandom is having a MOMENT right now, but the eight episodes we got this year were absolutely gorgeous and beautifully written. I'll be so forever grateful to the amazing and diverse group of people who made up this cast and crew for creating this lovely and satisfying season. Here's to a third!

I just finished the finale and I absolutely loved this season! Y’all are in for a treat! I am excited to watch this season with y’all. Blackbeard with the messy hair is on another level of hotness! Lol

Pirates didn’t bury treasure, that’s an urban legend dating from the actual period! There was a rumor at the time that Captain Kidd buried treasure. People have been looking for buried treasure ever since and never found any.
Instead, pirates wore their treasure! Earrings, necklaces, etc, I think gold teeth as well, that are attached to their body and harder to steal. Bc pirates are all thieves and some a-holes will steal from their crew mates.
And, of course, they spent their treasure. How much do you figure Jackie charges for rum? How much do sex workers and food stalls and clothing vendors charge? Where else is a known pirate going to buy supplies? In a gold rush, you want to be the person selling shovels, as the saying goes.

This comes up any time ppl are looking for buried pirate treasure, like Oak Island and all that. That poor island has been excavated hollow. Just get a metal detector and look for antique dimes!
Also the idea that pirates spent all their time loot chests full of treasure overestimates how many unguarded chests of loot were up for grabs.
Most of the time they were just picking off merchant ships which were full of trade goods or ship's supplies. Being able to resupply rations and medicine was incredibly valuable but not exactly something you would bury. Same with trade goods like silk, sugar, spices or tobacco. Ship supplies were also highly prized because it was hard for pirates to restock their ships with necessities. You wouldn't bury anything like extra cannons, anchors, sails or ropes because you would want to have them on board.
Anything you could spend easily, like actual treasure, of course would be fantastic loot but because it could be spent on repairs, supplies and easily shared amongst the crew.
Yesss, Blackbeard looks so hot this season! Even when he was acting like an evil asshole, half of me was just thinking "fuck me, this guy is so attractive". 🤯🔥

As I am from North Carolina and Blackbeard legend is kind of a currency around here, I’ve done several year’s worth of reading on the accounts written about Edward Teach, to date, no one has recorded him ever killing anybody himself, they sank several ships but always set the crews adrift. There is no record of anyone named being killed by Blackbeard.
Loved this season. They’ve done an amazing job. Just to point out in case you didn’t know. Despite being one of the best viewed and supported shows on hbo max, the received major budget cuts, hence being 2 eps shorter plus other things. They still did amazingly but I do feel that’s worth remembering and being aware of for this season!
Exactly. Such a shame things were cut but I think they did an excellent job with what they had.

re: "not that popular" OFMD2 outranked Succession S3 in streaming numbers and is officially HBO max's flagship show, number's wise. The prior Season won many awards, a GLAAD award amongst them, and the numbers were also absolutely stunning :)
Also still begging you to watch "Good Omens" - if you like Fantasy stories where Gender and sexuality are just prolific and...there and accepted and whatever :)

When you are watching this in CZcams, in that minute between 11:00 and 12:00, what volume level are you using and are you able to hear yourselves clearly? Then, when you first speak again after 12:00, do you find that volume transition to be acceptable and what you are hoping for in the CZcams outcome?

Season 2 sucked, season 1 was amazing and funny, had lots of buttons and good characters, season 2 has none of that! Horrible unfunny jokes, the characters are awful, every episode ends with a depressing sad song. Now Buttons is gone and Izzy is gone? This HORRIBLE show needs to be taken behind the barn and put out of its misery!

Jesus, have a cup of tea and wind down. I perfectly understand preferring season one, but they're not different enough that one can be amazing and the other horrible. Not everything has to be an extreme. A simple "I was disappointed" would have done.

@@drpeppaerdrpeppaer5434 I don't really see it. 🤔 all the main characters are the same. The main story is still the relationship between Stede and Ed and their respective personal development. Stede is still struggling with the balance between imposter syndrome on one hand and delusions of grandeur on the other - tipping over a bit more to the latter side, since he worked through most of the former in the last season - and Ed is still struggling with who he is when he's not Blackbeard (basically struggling to reject toxic masculinity and define a new type of masculinity for himself). Yes the tone is sometimes darker, following the twists and turns of the love story, but by the end of the season most of the characters are in a better place (arguably Izzy also made it to a better place before he died...).
