Wonderful storytelling............My Edinburgh Granny was a feisty, no-nonsense wee woman who brought up 4 boys and my mother, through the Depression. She had a holiday on Skye in the early 50's and had a paranormal experience on the Island. She refused to ever talk about it, except once, to my mother. That rather indicates it was very real to her. My mother thought I would be mocking, so also refused to talk about it. What did Granny see?
Your Granny sounds like a strong steadfast lady so whatever she saw..was enough to scare her into people thinking she was "crazy". That was enough back in the day to keep one's mouth shut.
😱 i have a friend from Skye. Used to see odd lights on the moors at night.
If your mum is still alive, ask her
There he is....and the Sunday is complete and saved!
Happy days....never mind the rain! 🤜🏻🤛🏻🍻
Haha! Glad to be of service 😊

Brilliant video....again! 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻🍻
I stayed up there in a cottage for a week in Kilmaluag Bay in the mid-nineties. It's an incredible island. The best thing apart from the scenery of the island was the absence of artificial light and one night experienced a sky full of stars unlike anything I had seen before or since. I didn't witness any frightening apparitions, apart from my own hungover, pale face in the mirror after one too many at a Ceilidh in Portree.😊
As a Scottish woman who moved down to the South East of England back in 1977 ( seeking work as a teenager ) I have always wanted to visit Skye . I absolutely will do this . Due to retire from Health Care in about three years . Skye is on the bucket list ❤ Thank you for the video ❤
it makes me cry to think of those Highlanders wondering still. Such a beautiful story,in such a beautiful land, but indeed very sad. thank you
I visited Skye in 1998. I instantly felt at ease and had an overwelming sensation of coming home. I wanted to stay there for the rest of my life. However, this New Zealander considers himself a south sea Scot and I hope to one day get back to this magical Isle.
Yay an EE upload to be indulged, hot chocolate, a bag of Revels an snuggled in bed bliss.... stories of Skye or anything remotely Jacobite and I'm in!!
My Aunt and Uncle saw the Austin in the 1960's It became a family legend.
Oh wow! Did it creep them out?
I think it was disconcerting at the time. However, my mother was from Edinburgh and our family experienced many events. So it was all taken in its stride. From Edinburgh to Caithness and the rest. Some great stories. I am going write them down some time 😊
I could listen to you narrate anything for the rest of my life. lol. xx I love your channel & watch your videos over & over. I was on the Isle of Skye a few years ago & was most enchanted with it's beauty. Thank you for taking me back there with more interesting information.
You are far too kind, thank you. Skye is a wonderful place. More stories to come from there in the future.
@@eerieedinburgh Yay! I look forward to them!
So there are two of us who would stand in line for hours to get tickets to "EE Reads the Phone Book," eh? 😁
I love your voice. You could narrate a dictionary and I would listen intently. LOL Great stuff. i love learning about the Scotish legends and the imagery OMG so stunning. My husband and i have family in Scotland and would love to visit but I am disabled so I guess your videos will have to do. And they do very nicely. Tank you for all your hard work putting these together for us.
Thank you for the lovely feedback, i'm glad i can help a wee bit. I hope you can make it over here one day.
Sad that I missed the premier but, beautifully filmed, written and delivered as always, Sir. The fact that you delve into the history as much as you do makes you stand out above the rest. Thank you again for all you do. This channel is amazing.
💯
My understanding of the ghost car is that a Minister was driving his 1934 Austin Ten down to one of the old, turntable ferries. However, the brakes failed and the car went through the chains at the end of the ferry and into the water. Despite the best efforts of the ferry crew, they could not break the car windows and the passengers in the car drowned. The Minister was the sole survivor, but suffered a nervous breakdown shortly afterwards. The car was once spotted and then chased by a policeman in his patrol car, but disappeared. I also understand there is a second ghost car, although this takes the form of an old fashioned hearse, bright lit from within and seen moving along the shoreline. There was a very good documentary about the ghosts on Skye which was produced for BBC Scotland's Alba (Gaelic) service.
An awesome video with lovely storytelling. You have a wonderful, Scottish lull in your voice for narrating.
Beautifully told and beautifully illustrated.
It truly is ❤
I never miss an upload. You are a master storyteller. I am going to make a pilgrimmage to Skye and Siccar Point if it's the last thing I do.
You are too kind! Thank you.
Thank you for your Channel, a potent mix of Background and relating the Accounts. All with a voice that holds the Attention.
Thank you again.
A pleasure, thanks for the lovely feedback.
A poetic tribute to the history of the Isle of Skye. I can't help but wonder where the Austin came from. Someone must know, but carried it to their grave. Something occurred that locked the urgency of the racing car to the island.
A terrible accident with loss of life, due to speeding. Must be in the newspapers of the days’ archives. Just doing a bit of research would uncover the fact.
@littleredwitch Yes, you may uncover the who -- if they mentioned the make of car. But, they rarely report the why. What was the emergency? It is not always known or reported.
Interesting video 👍
I'll watch it on your recommendation
I would give my eye teeth to see the highlanders ....what an epic story! Thanks again for your tremendous research and dedication.
Your productions are world class.
Hi, awesome live ghosts stories video I enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing have a great day see you next video. How are you doing? I'm doing well and so is my cat Benjamin 😊
Hello to you and Benjamin (great name) 👋🏻
My Salem sends a paw wave to Benjamin. 😻
Such an incredibly scary video. I just took a birthday trip to Skye. It is a dream destination. Didn’t see any ghosts unfortunately just saw loads of natural beauty!
Not going to lie, your videos have become an escape for me while navigating post partum life for the last seven months 😂 though when my son does finally learn to speak, I’m curious if he’ll be putting on a Scottish accent
Aww, you made me chuckle. All jokes aside, i hope you're doing ok 🫂
Congratulations on your little one! I’m sure you’re doing a great job as a new mom, just be sure to reach out for support when you need to.
I love the story telling and rich history😉
As ever. A brilliant video, delivering more spectral shenanigans for our enjoyment. Thank you kind sir for your continued content. Brilliant.
A pleasure, my friend.
Another brilliant collection of tales…the car one for me is the strangest one. Highlanders re-enacting their route over and over I can get …but an empty car driving around is weird
Yeah, travelling faster than a car of that era should also 🤷🏻♂️ odd story and thank you 😊
We are halfway into Autumn here in NZ, and today has been wet, windy and just that little bit colder than previous weeks. So I have remade my bed with winter bedding and decided to have an early night watching TV, CZcams and movies but still have a nice glass of Sauvignon blanc to finish. Such a cosy feeling and EE just makes the whole experience perfect.
That is very kind, thank you 😊
Thank you, Eerie.
Recordings of trauma captured and replayed. Til someone sets their souls free.
Moody perfection as usual.
Could listen to these for hours. For Days. Perfect in every way!
FANTASTIC. I've had many a happy holiday on Skye and will be back. Fascinating to listen to and you have answered a few of my many wonders. Thank you so much. Kelso, Scottish Borders ❤❤
My pleasure, glad you enjoyed it 😊
Another great history Lesson, but with regards to the "Wee black car of Skye" as its commonly known, Neil Oliver has recently written a book about UK Ghosts called "Hauntings: A Book of Ghosts and Where to find them" In which he talks about the wee black car of Skye, its actually one of the strangest Ghosts stories, Apparently the first sightings were in the 1930's and practically Everyone on the island had witnessed it multiple times, along with thousands of visitors to the island.
These sighting persisted until the 1960's when there was a tragic accident involving a minister who was driving a small black Austin ten onto the ferry for two women and a child, his foot slipped on the accelerator and the car plunged into the sea, and the two women and the child tragically drowned. Since that day they were no more sightings of the wee black car of Skye. so weirdly it was a Ghost sighting in reverse, where the ghost was seen years before the tragic event and no a single sighting after, a collective premonition if you will. Makes you think what are ghosts and what indeed is the nature of time ????
Another great video, love these ghosts stories, especially the different clans ,
Thank you. We have a fascinating history in Scotland 👍🏻
brilliant vid as always. I love Skye, I find it hauntingly enigmatic even on the brightest summers day. The scariest thing on Skye is the 3mm midges with 10 feet teeth x
That is beautiful. This land is part of my family. Kinda wished I lived back then when the scots, Irish, and Wales joined
Yes indeed. Sky is haunted place I have been camping in 2004 .wonderful place.
Thanks!
As usual, beautifully done. Your narrative eloquence matches the beauty of your country. Best spooky channel on utube!🎉
Thank you so much, Karen! You are too kind. You're support helps keep me going 😊
Lovely, engaging storytelling as usual. Thanks for all you do!
I would love to see the ghostly highlanders ❤
Congratulations , must be your best one so far , the scenery, the story's the narration all superb, I believe the sightings of the old Austin stopped when an old Austin went into the water by the ferry killing two or three occupants. Breathtaking video thank you ! 🏴
Absolutely love this channel. Even the intro music is terrific. Nothing like a good ghost story, esp. when it has a basis in historical fact. Thanks so much and keep up the great work!
Yay!!!! Just in time to listen before work!
Hope you enjoy 😊
Excellent, as always.
Your a good story teller,enjoying the history😊
This is the Best Channel I have ever found…. Its perfect and entertaining… Great storyteller…😊
Too kind! Thank you 😊 lovely of you to say.
Marvelous.
The Skye tourist people owe you some money. I'm planning a visit now!
Haha! Good shout 😊
Excellent! Thank you! 😊
What a great vlog, I didn't fall asleep this time, its quite eerie the ghosts on the Glen, enjoyable content, this is Paul In Whitehaven, Cumbria, England
Hello, your video was in my feed today. My ancestors were from Scotland and Ireland. I have always loved and been attracted to theIsle of Skye. I’m living in the southern USA. I have incorporated the isle into my email address, beyondtheskye, to acknowledge that my family has moved beyond the boundaries of Scotland. I am subscribing and I look forward to watching more interesting stories about a place that I have never visited that still holds a part of my heart. Thank you! ❤😊
Wonderful video as always!
That phantom car was interesting! I've heard of ghost ships and phantom aircraft but never a phantom car!
love these vids keep them coming ty
Great stuff
Wonderful story Thank you for taking me along
My pleasure 😊 thanks for watching.
I think there is another haunted car (not sure if it is on Skye or not but it is near a ferry dock, I think) called "the wee black car" that was involved in a tragic accident at or near the ferry dock and many natives and tourists have reported seeing "the wee black car" as it drives down the road in broad daylight.
Another great video. I really need to go and visit Skye. It is such a stunning place, with so much to see and do, as well as some amazing history and folklore to boot.
It really is. Have you ever been to Lewis/Harris?
@@eerieedinburgh I was on Lewis, very briefly, a few years back. That was when I was still working in archaeology. I want to go back.
@@AScottishOdyssey i love Lewis. Like Rannoch Moor with beaches.
@@eerieedinburgh Yeah, the landscape is stunning. I managed to visit the Callanish Standing Stones, and the Dun Carloway Broch. Both were stunning.
My home, and where I grew up 💜 ^^
Thank you so much for the wonderful stories I always enjoy them.

This is why I named my youngest daughter Skye. 💙 🏴 💙🌊🌈

Thank you for the upload, your stories are a joy to listen to!
I listened last night but it was so good I listened again.
There's a variant of the phantom Austin on another site, which claims that it was a 'portent', of a tragedy in the 1960s or 70s, when a veteran Austin somehow ran off the end of the island ferry, and the people in it were drowned. Seems off if such a 'portent' should show up thirty years in advance.
Incidentally, its not surprising the good doctor was surprised - there wouldn't be very many cars on the island back then, and petrol was all but unobtainable, save for reserved occupations such as his.
Oh, thanks for sharing. I hadnt heard that part of the story 👍🏻
The story has a number of iterations. A popular one is that a "wee car", something like an Austin A35 from the description, had been seen by various islanders and visitors. Noting the car heading towards them on a single track road, they would pull into a passing point only for the car to never reappear. In the 1960s a minister of the church offered to take the lady driving such a small car onto the ferry, as she was unfamiliar with boarding. He overshot the ramp, driving into the sea. The minister was the only survivor of the party of 3 or 4 (depending on the account, which includes a child), after which the wee car was never seen again. First hand accounts of the phantom car are available on CZcams: The Haunted Hebrides - the Ghost Car of Skye on Green M channel.
@@borderlands6606 Brilliant, thank you 👍🏻
I'm about to watch, and as I always say, this makes my night! There is no better channel and your visuals and video are stunning. Your stories are magic. I loved seeing places I stood just over a month ago. Pure spiritual magic. ❤
Thank you, Tamsin. You are such a star 🫂

Hi eerie xx
👋🏻 hello
👍♥️👻
He doesn't get to the ghosts until 9:30-ish.
I love your voice better than the girls. Sorry but had to say it..great stories and would love to see the ghosts of the highlanders . Thank you
What value is there in slaughter? What was the ultimate gain?---And, was there ever a theory put forward about the car?
On the car, it turns out my friend from Skye knows the story and has a relative who swears they saw it. Drove too fast for a car that age. He also claims to have seen a young girl with long dark hair and a tan coloured long 'dress' floating by the side of the same road.
The land was life or death and the people were compelled to fight for every bit of land they could get. The land meant food for your family and safety. The men who died in battle were fighting for the life of their people. 😢
I wonder who’s car that was. No one remembers an accident?
So, i've since found out there are a couple of youtube videos from the 80's that feature this. I believe the story is that a minister had two or three people in a car that went off the end of a ferryand they all drowned. If you search Sligachan ghost car you'll find them. Worth a watch for the wonderful accents alone.
Honestly, I would live to see a collaboration with @ghostcasebook
Thanks!
Melody, thank you so much! Your support is amazing. Thank you 😊
