Something I wanted to mention and forgot, is how easily fine hair can sometimes tangle, and create webbing.. I would recommend trying to use a wet brush or wide tooth comb to distribute your product while your hair is still really wet and then scrunch!
Yes the wet brush has helped so much with detangling my hair! I have fine hair strands that tangle easily but also a lot of coarse strands that create those fairy tale/single strand knots so the wet brush has been a game changer!
omg i thought i was crazy! everyone is like “my hair tangles so easily because it’s thick and coarse”. i thought i was just neglecting my hair 😢
I enjoyed this video. I don't think fineness vs coarseness is addressed often enough in the curly community. There is lots of talk of porosity (which is great) but coarseness matters so much. I immediately get turned off of a a product that says it's for wavy hair or curly hair. There are too many variations to account for in each curl type. It gets tricky though when someone has mixed coarseness. I had a professional hair analysis done a few months ago and it reported that I have an even mix of fine, medium, coarse, and very coarse hair OMG! So I've been experimenting and I style for my medium to coarse hair.
Glad you enjoyed it! I definitely agree.. good luck and I hope you find the best products for you! 💗
The coarsest hair in the world is also super duper pin straight. It's weird how we've been fed this misconception that curly and coily hair is automatically coarse when usually it's more along the fine to medium side. Asian hair is typically incredibly coarse (so coarse that it doesn't grow down until it gets some weight to it - it instead sticks straight up and out and defies gravity if you will) and also incredibly straight. Obviously there's variations but I've always been labelled as automatically having coarse hair due to having coily hair, when my hair is far from being coarse.
When I first started my hair journey (5 months ago), I kept seeing videos and reading comments from people saying that creams will often weigh down wavy hair. However, I've found that I have to use creams, or else my hair will just end up looking frizzy and stringy. I'm still trying to figure out all the details of my hair, but I do know that I have low density hair, and I think my hair is medium to course. For styling, sometimes I will just use a cream and nothing more. I usually do this when I air dry, and it turns out pretty nice. I switch between the Cantu curl activator cream and the Moroccan Oil curl defining cream. I actually think the Moroccan Oil works better with my hair because it's a little more lightweight than the Cantu, but the Cantu is waaay cheaper, so I alternate between them to save money. lol If I want more volume, I will also apply mousse after the cream. When I diffuse, I will usually add gel after the cream (particularly towards the ends of my hair) because for some reason when I diffuse, the top of my hair (like from the ears up) will stay wavy/curly, but the ends of my hair will lose their shape pretty easily.
Thanks so much for sharing! It’s helpful to hear someone else’s experience ❤️
OMGSH FINALLY ANOTHER COARSE WAVY LIKE MEEEEEE! SUBBED!
Yeah I have super course 2A hair
Your hair looks so much like mine (now that I’m finally following CG). Glad I found you! Thanks for the video!
I think I might just go ahead and buy gel to try and bring the waves in my hair out! I was really confused between gels, creams and mousse... so watching this really helped!
So glad it helped! ❤️
Your hair looks great! I’m definitely still trying to figure my hair out, because I have thick hair(medium-high density) with different textures.
Thank you!! It’s such a journey.. I hope you find what you’re looking for 🥰
i haven’t clicked on something so fast in a minute 😩 well needed! thank you!
So good to hear 🥰 hope I could be helpful in some way!
I have thin but coarse hair and gets heavily tangled. Any tips for that?
Great content.
Thanks for watching and I’m glad you enjoyed! 🥰
You are similar to me and my hair I love and despise LOL I can use all the hair hold products but I have my favorites. I have high density, medium strands. I thought I just had a lot of fine hair but based on the fact I like creams… and don’t get weighed down… I must have medium strands. I know I don’t have coarse 🤣 it’s just crazy and funny to have middle road hair. I feel like it’s stable dependable hair lol but it can be confusing in the curly community to know what actually will work for me based on marketing. I wash 2x a week… and need regular hair mask usage .. with a little bit of protein. I also need regular chelating.
Hi my hair is almost like yours
how would you make it a shiny?
Overall health of your hair is what will make it shiny and healthy looking! Protein/moisture balance, products with the right ingredients, and masking and clarifying regularly will help!
@@tabithagingerich thank you
i just started on march i’m still working out the products that would suits me and addressing my flaky scalp
i enjoyed watching your videos
@@tabithagingerich what’s your porosity? I recently found out I’m medium porosity and medium to course strands. I have type 2 waves . I may have to go through your product review videos lol.
I’ve noticed more shine in my hair when it’s well conditioned and when I use the Dove gel, the Kinky Curly Curling Custard, or the Verb Ghost Oil
It has a lot to do with hydration (inside and out!). If you are dehydrated it will affect your skin, scalp and hair so start there first ;) Vitamins, right products, weekly hair masks, etc. also help :)
Love your earrings 🥰 can u link them?

I really agree with what you’ve said! Thank you so much for this!
I have fine but dense wavy/curly, high porosity hair.
I need the hardest hold gel I can find, over a light enough leave-in or styler to add some moisture. The struggle is real!
So many styling tips, curly cuts and curl advice are totally wrong for my hair.
( Rezo cut- yay! Ouidad cut-so wrong for my hair.)
It’s taken me a solid year (and so. many. products.)to find a routine that works.
I really appreciate your flexible approach!
So glad to hear it! It’s crazy how long it can take to figure out what works for ones individual hair.. thanks for being here 🤍
