What would you do when you think no one is watching? What Would You Do? (WWYD?) explores the varying answers with the help of hidden cameras capturing individuals who have been placed within seemingly everyday situation that quickly go ary. The individuals on this hidden camera show are forced to make tough calls when directly faced with situations of racism, violence, hate crimes, and other hot button cultural issues. Catch John Quinones reporting on these individuals as they make split-second decisions to intervene or mind their own business. WWYD? airs Friday nights at 9|8c on ABC.
What Would You Do? (WWYD) is a hidden camera show, hosted by ABC News correspondent John Quinones, in which unknowing bystanders are placed in uncomfortable, and often compromising real world scenarios in public. WWYD’s hidden cameras focus on the average person’s responses and reactions to these issues of social responsibility. Topics such as gay couples being affectionate in public, date rape, racism and racial profiling, interracial couples, abusive parents, drunk driving, and harassment of the homeless are touched upon in this series. What will you do? Would you choose to intervene in these situations? Watch and join the discussion.

This one really hit close to home for me. My Dad had an accident as a young child that left him with a TBI, which led to him not being able to read. He was a damn hard worker though! He learned hands on what to do at the many different jobs he had, and he took things so seriously on getting the job done right. When he left a job at a casino where he replaced lightbulbs, the casino had to hire a couple more people to do the same job that my Dad did all on his own. He sure taught me how to be a hard worker, and that you can be a hard worker no matter your circumstances! When he worked a janitorial job, he taught a new hire how to do things right, no taking shortcuts. Later on that new hire told my Mom and I that he was so glad that my Dad trained him and that he trained him well.

My condolences.
Your Dad was the kind of employee every company would LOVE to have. Hard working, dedicated, loves to help others, and he refused to be a victim of his circumstances. A lot of people would say "Oh, I have a TBI - I have to go on disability payments. I can't work". And they would spend their lives living off of taxpayer's money. Your Dad wasn't going to let that happen - he knew he could work to support his family, and he knew that was the right thing to do. If I owned a company, I would hire someone like him in a minute! I'm sorry for your family that he's gone now. He passed on a great legacy to you and your siblings by being the kind of person he was. You must miss him very much. 💐🙏

I found out a friend of mine couldn't count and had no concept of money. while at a coffee shop. cashier asked for amount , he held out a handfull of change, she stood there looking at him as he stood looking at her. I understood imediatly and took the correct change from his hand and gave it to the cashier. After my friend left I told the cashier whenever someone holds out a handfull of change just take the money needed , like my friend they may not be able to count or have the concept of money and must rely on Honesty from Cashiers or they know but are testing your Honesty. The Blind must also rely on Hoest people as well.
There was a blind woman on my paper route when I was a kid. She would hold out a bill when I would collect the payment and ask if it was a 5 or 10 or whatever. I remember thinking how easy it would be for someone to take advantage of her. I really hope nobody ever did.

His wife passed when their children were really young, and this man worked for 50 years at the same plant and was never late or never missed a day of work bc his children depended on him. One son was mentally challenged, but my friend still never gave up. When he retired, he received an award for 50 years that he hung so proudly on his wall. I would go visit him every day and he would have all his letters and mail for me to read to him. One thing I noticed is every morning like clock work he would be reading his bible and spending time with God in prayer and true intimacy 🙌 I often wondered how he was able to read his bible but couldn't read anything else. I know that I know God made a way for him. I miss him so much and our friendship 😢 I know he's resting in the arms of Jesus now. Rip Mr. Guthrie, for I know I will see you again. ❤️ 🫶🙏

I feel bad for the actress who is probably a decent person but has to act like a piece of garbage in front of strangers who think its real.
She plays her part perfectly.
thats acting. plus she got to see some really impressive, caring people up close
She got paid it's her job

Great people still out there, that first couple moved forward to help at the same exact moment what amazing people that educater made me cry
This made my day! I love watching things like this. I hope if I’m ever in a situation like this I step forward and defend and help them rather than keeping my thoughts to myself. All of these people were absolutely amazing!
I think of myself as being a good Christian woman but as I said before these videos have reminded me I CAN and WILL be a better person to those who may need it.😢❤❤👵
Ive been in situations similar to this in public… my rage ignites so fast…. And the situations usually escalate beyond what was appropriate… I try not to let it happen but I can’t help myself. I typically wait as long as possible to see if someone else is going to step up and deal with the problem, because I know I’m just about to make the situation much worse. 😢
"so you know a lot of illiterate people?"
"yes i do. im an educator"
GOT EM
GOT THEM
You say got them. You wrong. Many kids don't get a chance for many reasons. Never judge a book by its cover
Ace, why would someone not know how to read? Either no one taught them or they didn’t care to learn. Point blank.
@@christopherfoote4643 you're fucked
@@lianasoares8052 you must be pretty young not to get this. It's not as cut and dry as you make it out to be. Life wasn't always peaches and cream like it is now. In most rural areas people lived rough, impoverished lives, and more often than not they had to quit school to make enough money to feed themselves and their family. It's not as rough nowadays in life with truancy laws and stuff now but I would agree anybody under thirty has no excuse not being able to read with the sheer amount of resources out there to help them. Although older people are from a different time and had a lot less resources at their disposal. But you shouldn't make such broad accusations without considering the complexity of such a topic.
I wanted to give the actor a hug omg. He was PHENOMENAL.

I’m one of these people, I couldn’t read until I was 25 years old! I was embarrassed about it, then something wonderful happened. I was on Dateline for illiteracy with 3 other people, and it took 8 months to film. They also gave a tutor, to learn. I can understand the pain others feel, since I was one. But I’m grateful I did the show, to help others. Now I can read, but I do have dyslexia. But one good thing is I did get my G.E.D! But because I didn’t get much of an education, it does limit my ability to go get a good job. I do work, even when I couldn’t read. Just limited.
I loved how the gf was reading the flavors while the bf whispered how rude the cashier was. Lol

Amazing how acts of kindness bring a tear to the eye faster than acts of cruelty
It makes my heart soar to see people actually going out of their own way to help people, Like this. I struggled for a long time not being able to read and write, not because I didn't have it. I just had trouble. And for a whole year, I didn't have anyone to help besides my mom, but when I wasn't around her I didn't get a lot of help and would be considered retarded for not being able to read certain menus. It makes me so happy to hear it's changing and people are being so nice. I really did tear up hearing all these people did ;u;
