Dragon Ball Z - Buu Yuu Retsuden, released as Dragon Ball Z - L'Appel du Destin in France and Spain and as Dragon Ball Z in Portugal, is a fighting game released for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive based on the Dragon Ball franchise.
Due to the popularity of the Dragon Ball Z anime in these European countries, it was released in Japan on April 1, 1994, and in Europe (France and Spain) in June 1994. The French/Spanish version was renamed Dragon Ball Z - L'Appel du Destin and has the game translated to French language and the instruction booklet in French and Spanish languages.
The game was also distributed in Portugal in 1996 where it is called Dragon Ball Z. The distributor, Ecofilmes, would take Japanese copies of the game, replace the cover and the manual (but keep the cart), and sell the game as is, promising a free converter cart as the Japanese cartridges cannot fit into European Mega Drives. When the French version came out, they switched to using that version instead.
We used to play this religously back when we are kids, we always perform the bug that can make all you charge and ki blast to blue.
Holy crap, I thought I was alone to know this trick, nobody ever believed me when I said it was possible (since it's useless (even if I made up in my mind it was more damageful), and recently I had to perform it on a real megadrive (genesis) in front on my adult friends. A mixed feeling between pride and emptyness. (What a game).
You can counter the super moves by doing the same technique just before you get hit

Some Meteor Attacks (Frieza and Cell) can be performed in the air (maybe a glitch or something). Recoome has another Meteor Attack which swings the opponent away before going down to the ground.
fire balls ok. Super combos (Meteor Smash ?), only dropped a few and was like " :O WTF was that ?"
When I was a kid I never understood some moves required charge inputs (vegeta's and freezer's discs), the in-game movelist didn't told that. I had the divine epiphany decades later during a dream and I woke up telling to myself "I have to plug in my genesis (megadrive here) and try this".
The Body Change from Ginyu doesn't appear in command's list in Options menu. Id just a question mark. I discovered myself how to do this secret move
Same here, I was baffled when I did it randomly. I had to wait for decades and the internet to make sure I never made it up and it was a real technique.
Same! Back then there were no internet. Discovered it after hours of experimenting
I wish the characters yelling every single move's names correctly, not just few ones like Kamehameha. It's odd to see Vegeta using Final Flash without correctly yelling its name.

I think u missed one special move by goku, which he uses invisible ki to knock back enemy.. it was one of my fav..

For the same reason they didn't have more voices, they have to program the game with a limited size so programmers decided to sacrifice that one.

@@juniorranger6920 This I'm not so sure. Usually if I want to counter: down, backdown, back, forward + punch. Need precise timing since you need to input the command when the ki is about to hit you.
Final flash is my fave ^^b

Yg mana? Utk jenis Kamehameha (ki blast) kbykn separo lingkaran (kanan,bwh,kiri,kanan) + A. Utk spesial yg melee (pukulan combo) separo lingkaran + B. Utk gerakan spesial yg lain harus darahny tinggal dikit dan aga beda kunci tombolny.. sy jg lupa he he
Goku ada 2 versi type kamehameha bro.. 1 ukurannya lebih kecil & 1 lagi lebih besar + efek damagenya pun juga lebih besar..
