This wasn't The Tube, it was the show that replaced it when the first series ended and it was called Switch. It used to be on from 6pm - 7pm Friday, Channel 4.
I had dinner last night with the director, Tony Dow. He told me that the the American flag burning was the way that The Doors always ended the song when performing live- the show was broadcast live and before the credits had even finished, the US embassy were on the 'phone to complain!
I think this was the final song of an episode of "The Tube" channel 4 TV show and the last song ever performed by Fun Boy Three, they split up after the show, only Terry Hall knew, as he ended the bands career...
Indeed.. I've still got my FB3 albums , also the Colourfield. I still think that the "Waiting" Lp is a classic. Also really liked 'Virgins & Philistines' from Colourfield, and the Hammond Song.
Excellent! I've wanted to see this ever since a school friend told me I'd missed them playing it as a swan song on the Tube. I was a Doors fanatic at the time, but liked the Fun Boy Three too and couldn't imagine what the two styles colliding would sound like. Suprisingly good it turns out.
they done this as the ladt number when headlining Glastonbury in the 80,s Glaston then supported CND and when the flag was burnt at the end the crowd went wild, oh the good days before Glasto went commercial
words fail me...that was just fucking awesome. I've just turned 70 and still remember the original, but, this one...wow.
I love the original, but this is a damn good cover! I wouldn't have thought anyone could pull it off. Jim Morrison would be proud
This just makes me want to have Terry's babies even more than I already did!! The man's at least two kinds of genius!
That is a brilliant, respectful interpretation of the Doors’ finest choon

FUN BOY THREE LIGHTS MY FIRE!
Very interesting and strange footage. Thanks for posting, never knew this existed!
Stumbled across this - what a great mash-up of two of my favourite bands - The Doors and The Specials!
Brilliant !!!!!!!!

this song suits Terrys Dark and disturbed persona

Yeah this was probably not long before the end of FB3. It was played as the last song of the set on their final tour of the US in '83
wow, I like this
Always thought that Terry had a sort of Morrison vibe. This proves it. Such a talented bloke.
This is from Channel 4's The Tube circa 1984/5. I saw it on the live TV broadcast and it blew me away. Love that they Burnt the US flag at the end.
Amazing!
