Let’s not forget how we took the “Keep Calm and Carry On” merch WAY to far.
hhahahahha😹😹😹
god !1 hahaha in my brother’s school the signs “bathroom” “director’s office“ and else have in the superior part “keep calm” so out of place and it shows the lasting parts of an era (2010) in a graphic system poorly handled by a designer that followed a trend in that time.
This!!! Gosh, my Sophomore t-shirt was like that, I still have it🤣🤣🤣
i had a fucking PENCIL SHARPENER that said that-
It was a lifestyle, along with the mustache. Was that even real? Was it a fever dream?
One day my children are going to come back from the thrift store with a galaxy tank top, calling it “vintage” and that’s the day I die
Its all washed out by then
Omg you actually made me laugh
Nah it’s all fast fashion it will all have deteriorated by then...hopefully

The problem with 2010’s fashion was that literally everything revolved around horrible quality fast fashion.
If you’re talking about those trashy dresses that were so cheap they tore up in 2 weeks, I agree with you.

In defense of skater skirts, I don’t think they were basic. They were a neutral, flattering style that complimented lots of outfits and body types.
They were one of the few trendy styles that was actually flattering on 90% of bodies
Yes! They were the only skirt I felt comfortable wearing, even if my catholic parents demanded I wear spats underneath.
Absolutely!

I love skater skirts still. I have gastroparesis and one of the symptoms of the problem is looking 4-5 months pregnant after a meal kind of bloating. Skaters skirt are kind to the bloat unlike pencil skirts
Do you guys remember when people put owls on everything?
Dunno why, but I just remembered randomly an owl wearing nerd glasses...

Oh come on. Everyone said the same thing about the 2000’s just a few years ago and now it’s back. People will be all over the 2010’s in the 2030’s. The only reason people think it is bad now is because it is too recent. Old, but not old enough to be ”iconic” yet. Just watch.
Agreed, I mean fashion goes in a 20 year cycle, a lot of 2010s looks were inspired by the 90s, the same way 2000s fashion was inspired by the 80s
Finally someone that acknowledges the power and main cycle of fashion and trends
Maybe some pieces will be incorporated again, but I really think fashion has evolved to genuinely look better. We’re wearing minimalist pieces without the tackiness of the worse side of some early 00s items. We’re not using leggings as pants so often and talk about style like it’s a science lol, so I don’t agree completely.
@@carebear8655 that's only for now
The problem with 2010’s style is that it is mostly bad quality fast fashion and its hard to see that sort of cheap and unethical style coming back, but it will be exciting to see how the future decades recreate looks from the 2010s
The fact we all basically walked around with flowers in our hair is actually cute
Agree, even though I considered it such a quirky fashion I still adore it especially I kinda miss seeing my female classmates wearing those and gushing at flower crowns they buy. it such a simple but cute accessory.
I still think flower crowns are cute, and I feel like with the pretty fairy trends going around they'll stay (I sure hope they do anyway)
I still do it 😭
I really wanted those. But then I would ask myself ,Where do we go then'. Apparently people wore it casually.
But see. During my school time, everyone wore black and white. Grey too. Only sometimes there would be color. Skinny jeans, a hoodie or a tshirt from some type of brand. Like ellesse(nobody knows till this day how to pronounce it), adidas, Nike (I think this one was the most popular). The only thing that did really change were the sneakers.
And the feather extensions! This was such a fun, carefree era
Why was everyone obsessed with eos lip balms during the 2010s?
I blame miley cyrus
my friend brought me one from her trip to america and i fuckin ate it...
I only had two and that's because one was for my birthday and one was a the dollar store and I needed chaptstick
Because of Michelle Phan
those were crazy expensive for being the worst lip balms ever
flower crowns are cute but only the ones that look "natural" and worn with clothes that match them. i could totally imagine flower crowns gaining popularity again after the cottagecore trend and i am honestly here for it. (maybe it's just because i think flowers are poetic and i am a fucking arthoe.) but yeah, everything else? burn them.
I'm honestly surprised I haven't seen anyone wear flower crowns
exactly! flower crowns are beautiful and i'd be so happy if they came back as a cottagecore/boho piece, they'd look so cute being worn with pretty floral dresses, i love flowers, i wear a lot of floral prints and jewelry, i can kinda see myself wearing them, just not the cheap looking ones please

exactlyyy, anything can look good if you style them right, which is why there are even styles that are retro but look utterly crap imo. People just see the bad side of stuff instead of just wearing what they want and not caring about what others wear :((
Its called fast fashion- seamingly high fashion items made so cheaply they only look good far away at best
I feel this way about later 2010's trends too... I can't be the only one who thought biker shorts were so unflattering right?? is that mean lol
Thigh highs aren’t though
I think everyone in school was trying so hard to look like Zooey Deschannel and Audrey Hepburn but on a budget. Fast fashion made that possible... in a bad bad way. Meanwhile adult women were in the business casual era because they wanted to be taken seriously but again.. on a budget.

Honestly I miss this era of fashion, I genuinely felt like you could wear whatever you wanted and someone out there would think it was BOMB. Literally mustaches, owls, galaxy EVERYTHING. That would never fly today... You'd get called out immediately 💯💯💯💯
It was so fun, creative, and quirky!! That's what I'm going to miss about the 2010s the most of all, the quirkiness. Now quirky is cringe
Exactly! As someone who was a teenager in the 2010s, I feel like we had much more space to just play around and wouldn't be judged. Of course, maybe those outfits are cringed from today's point of view, but we were kids/teenagers and just had fun. the people who write those, “the 2000s had awful fashion” relate that era of fashion with their teenage years and they probably cringe and regret the decisions that they made in their teenage years and the fashion that they wore gets tied into that feeling. The knee-high Converse trend was a late 00s thing that came alongside the skinny jean fad.
The thing is that Keep Calm and Carry On was a British WW2 slogan on lots of radio campaigns and was supposed to encourage people to stay calm and assist the war effort- however it became so iconic and widely used that it has become a joke merchandise slogan stuck onto tacky tshirts and Union Jack cushions.

to be honest i agree with mostly everything in this video but the skater skirts and the thigh high socks are cute
I think we forget the worst of each era and remember the good. 60s minidresses, 70s bell bottoms, and 80s high-waisted pants will probably always be iconic because they are actually flattering and give us nostalgia for a bygone era, even though most of us never lived through it. Keep in mind, this list highlights the uglier fashion trends of the 2010s but there were some pretty cool things too. In 10 years, we will cringe at trends today, but in 20 years, it will be in vogue again. Also, Y2K fashion was really cringed at/ laughed at for a long time until now. So the fact that Y2K is popular now just goes to show that fashion trends cycle every 20 years or so, with some new trends mixed in.
Many people hated 90's fashion with passion as it was happening. Those of us who remember it (all of it) often still do.
Those awful huge pants for men look like garbage bags for example
nah, 00's clothes were also based on capitalist stuff, the shirts were from them 00's brands and people were all over them, nothing different, just wear what you want and don't need to follow trends
during 2012-15 while i was in elementary school, i went full out 2010. mustaches, neon socks, checker patterns, leggings with shorts, everything. it was so cringy but honestly i loved it, i’m just glad i don’t dress like that anymore.
I feel so attacked at how u insulted thigh highs and skaters skirts
me too like i literally just ordered some online 😂
Skater skirts and thigh highs add such a girlish flair to an outfit I still love them! 🥺
Same smh
They were cute
The Britain flag on everything oh my god I hated my friends who wear it every time and also those croptops with weird cuts in The back like ripped jeans were also the worst
I remember I had a bratz doll with a union jack top. So rad
I could hardly ever find a women's pair of non-holey jeans for back to school time. It was so annoying.
@lycheelex Yeees, one of my friends love 1D back then and her old Instagram account was like she was British herself good times but not that fashion💔💔💔
I’m that friend🤦🏻♀️ I have this insane phrase where almost everything I own had Union Jack on it like WHYYYYY
@Alexandra Salusbury I didn't know they called union jack😂😂 high level English that no one taught me but anyway thaks
Honestly I feel like some of these aren’t as awful as you say, but to each their own :p
I remember everyone wearing cat ears, with skater skirts and wearing a ‘tribal’ print crop top or some galaxy leggings or American flag leggings (even though me & my friends are all from uk we wore American flag print clothes)
oh god i found a picture of myself from 2011 the other day wearing a "tribal" print top and my soul left my body
i love how in the uk they were american flag while in the US they were UK flags and in the other countries we wore both 😃
Colored skinny jeans were only ok in Girls Generation's "Gee"
mood
Faxxxxxx
Agreed
I love your username :)
yes
"THESE glasses,"
Me wearing those glasses: 👁👄👁
same hahaha
God I SNORTED when I read this my soul left my body😭😭 I am so sorry I bet you found what works for you and I'm sure you suit them !!🥺
I have those glasses too. I was gonna change them a while ago but the place where I buy them closed cause of Corona
Oh I felt attacked
I like them :(
I remember a period of time when everything had a peplum on it. I’m a little round in the middle so I was all aboard the peplum train bc they were quite flattering
It can be classic, but you’re not crazy I remember when it was overdone.
What's a peplum?
@@kittykittybangbang9367 a piece of fabric that flared out from the waist/hip area of a top or dress.
That's just because it's relatively soon. Give it another decade and people will be nostalgic for that style again (but probably omitting the worst parts of it, just like with every revival of past styles)
Weird decision to classify skater skirts as a bad trend from the 2010s, they're hella cute and they've been around forever.
I don't think the skater skirt will ever go out of style.
Agree! Its basiclly all i wear all the time
It's just a circle skirt.
Agree, it's a great silhouette!
Most of these honestly aren't bad at all. Flower crowns, gladiator sandals, high-low dresses, honestly aren't bad at all. Hell even thigh high socks and skater skirts can still be cool!
This video looks very subjective to me.
like i get some of these but skater skirts are just... normal basics and high low dresses look good too.
High low dresses are also popular in orher cultures too, it's not like they just came from nowhere.
High-low dresses are literally the most flattering thing for short people
I feel like this video just wants to hate on 2010s fashion and even the examples are over the top. Maybe where she is from people just didnt know how to dress but in me and my friends case we managed to look normal. I still believe 2000s were the tackiest.
My list of bad 2010s trends:
I.Bomber jackets in 2016+17.They were not ugly themselves, they were just hard to pull off.Hardly anybody ever made them look good.
II.Adidas superstars.Leave those shoes were they came from:2017
III.Unicorn everything
IV.Shirts with girlboss statements.
V.Skinny jeans with a gucci belt, white, black or gray Levis T-Shirt,and a leather or even worse bomber jacket.Idk how it was in the US but here in Germany EVERYBODY was doing that shit from late 2015 up til 2017.
I was born on 2000 .. And when I was young 10 yo I really fancy that fashion (the one being mentioned here) I thought when I will grow up I will be able to wear them ...
So yaah judge me. .. I wanna have some of those trends, at least for my nostalgia
(Since I have the body now , which I dreamed of since children)
Lana Del Rey is the only one that I think can rock a flower crown
And Frida Khalo
And Carole Baskin
Exactly why i clicked so fast--
Same
In Sweden, for midsummer it’s tradition that we make our own flower crowns out of real flowers and it actually looks really pretty. But then again, the flowers aren’t paper, we’re surrounded by nature and other people are wearing them as well lol
But some of these aren't that bad. You're a little harsh on some of these trends. Like the skater skirts are cute fight me. I agree they can be boring but like they're still cute and I will wear them until I die thank you very much!!
A lot of these trends I still like and don't understand what's wrong with these
@@nitrofairywing1541 they're just very dated and don't seem cool anymore
Liz bth have u seen girls on Instagram recently? The 90s are back lmao Kurt Cobain grunge, slim casual dresses with cropped cardigans, bandanas, low waist jeans, those chunky dad shoes, bucket hats, those tiny oval sunglasses, etc.
Liz bth sorry but the 90s are literally here. Lots of young people are full blown into 90s bands music and clothing.
Liz bth the only 90s thing that needs to be burned is the ballpoint pen eyebrows
I still enjoy skinny jeans. I am not wearing flared or boot cut jeans. No ma’am.
I had a ridiculous amount colored skinny jeans.
I was in 7th and 8th grade when these things were popular it's giving me flashbacks... the combo of these trends AND being in middle school makes for especially embarrassing memories lmao
I disagree with thigh socks, they’ve been around forever and I think they’re still really cute! I think the heel-less hell was an interesting creation, and that flower crowns were a cute trend. But the rest of the 2010s can choke 😂
I think the heelless shoe looks cool for the runway, but for an actual thing for a person to wear...nah
Yes I like the thigh high socks, with the right outfit they look nice
Same, I looove thigh socks
I never wore them but I always thought that they were really cute
They look sooo cute
Is everyone just forgetting that one floral pattern that almost every brand like vans and jansport used? It would be put on dresses, tops, backpacks, shoes, etc
florals come and go, they're not exclusively 2010s
Florals are cute depending on the pattern and where they’re applied to. I like the small ones that look like a farmer’s curtains.
I have a pair of vans that are black and they have white polka dots and flowers on them and they are really cute
God I hate the floral patterns. They are ugly as shit. I can’t stand them.
Girl I remember owning a pair of flowered leggings
i kinda love the heelless shoes, they look futuristic
I love the late 2000s and early 2010s fashion just because it reminds me of my childhood and a time where everything seemed happier lol
Not all about few
Same. Nostalgia plays a part, but I genuinely just like that fashion back then idk why so many people hate it so much lol
@@456loveluckyour pfp is screaming Frutiger Areo and I love it lol
There's literally nothing wrong with skaterskirts they're totally cute still.
Right? It's literally just a skirt with a bit of flair?
Not all
It’s just a shorter version of the skirts in the 50s lol it’s a classic silhouette
lmao she just said there were basic ya know?
I felt this with most of the things on the list
Not gonna lie, skater skirts are cute and flower crowns were fun and I hope both make a comeback.
I just ordered a skater skirt online
I love skater dresses and skirts. Honestly, I think they are both such basic pieces in any wardrobe that I find it very difficult to believe they will go out of style. Same for skinny jeans. I will keep wearing mine for sure :D
I got a skater skirt from H&M last year and they have lots of skater dresses so I guess they're still around.
Skater skirts have already started to make a comeback, give flower crowns a year.
I don’t think skater skirts went out of style in the first place. They look pretty good with pretty much anything, and I see them a lot online.
LOL they used to say that about the 90s and now is the trendiest decade 🙄 i remember reading fashion magazines in the 2000s saying the the 90s were probably the worst fashion decade of all. Just wait for a decade to pass and they will say the same about the 2010s.
Tbh, we should see if we still think the same in 2030, 20 years rule people. Is far to soon to know if they're actually ugly, or we are just being very biased because the trends just changed.
The 80's too, had its share of ugly fashion, but we adapt and preserve the good bits. As with everything in fashion.
who remembers the mustache trend omfg we used to have tank tops, rings, bracelets etc of them i-
oh god, my middle school years
ha! same i had several necklaces and even dresses with them printed on! why? lol🤦♀️😭
The question is why...
I mustache you a question
Simpler times:*(
Those weird T-shirts that had a tuxedo screen-printed on them, stop with the madness
Those are a 70s thing
Edie &Andy this is disappointing news... thanks for the heads up :)
@@edienandy lol I always wanted one of those because I had seen them in movies 😂
blazebaby89 yeah, I recall seeing one in Carrie (1976), which is why I said they were a 70s thing. For all I know they could go back even further
4:51 I'm going to take that very very personal, I love fucking space and it kept a lot of things that people no longer want with this theme, I love fucking space and if it was for me I would do it back iconic
this is my comfort video, reflecting on our fashion mistakes makes me feel at peace
I can't forget the deer head aesthetic, so-called tribal art pattern, and mandala on everything.
Very cringey.
I think that was part of that festival culture rise. My fellow white people really wanted to get all spiritual and bohemian and thought putting generic "tribal" prints and religious symbols on stuff was acceptable. Yikes...
I mean I'm severely near-sighted and still wear "nerd glasses" not due to fashion but because they cover the largest field.
"Nerd glasses" or just my normal glasses lol
@I O Y E S. I became majorly hotter when I finally swapped my 00's thin metallic rimmed glasses for large tortoiseshell nerdy glasses. It evens my face and make my complexion stand out. I'm never going back !
Me too! Although mine are a little more cat I than regular nerd glasses.
@@medealkemy YES, same
OMG SAME "NERD" GLASSES UNITE!
I stand by and continue to love, like, half of these things. Ride or die with flower crowns!
The damn Levi's logo t-shirts. I got tired of seeing Levi's Shop employees literally everywhere.
I’m just glad everyone’s mostly found their own aesthetic. Not too many people dress the same anymore. It’s refreshing.
I think it’s the other way around. Everyone is in athleisure now. There’s no individuality
@@susiechoban1542 i noticed that this is very common in the U.S. people also go to College with sweatshirts and sweatpants. I found that really interesting. In europe its really different. We could not go to classes in college like that
This is not at all true lol
abcd 1234 mm, must be where I live. I see all kinds of people.
pretty much everyone i know dresses the same. i hate this negative cycle of devoting your entire personality into a trend and then looking back on it like it was disgusting and horrible, while wearing 2020's latest trends - if you hate trends that much then just fucking do your own thing lmao, nobody's gonna think you're cool for doing the same thing as everybody else so why not just dress how you like and have pride in it
You missed the upside down cross trend. They were on LITERALLY everything 🤭 😩
oh god, i blocked it out 😖
Also mustache prints on everything.
YES
Oh my god, I forgot about that😂😂😂 some people went far enough to get upside down crosses as tattoos on their finger, neck, wrist, etc. Everytime I see someone with that tattoo today, it just reminds me of a battle scar for surviving a god awful trend💀💀💀
Can we also talk about how everyone loved sloths for 8 months for absolutely no reason??
Why is Lana even there, she's an icon and she saved the last decade with her aesthetic, flower crowns included.
Yup
Some of these trends could definitely come around today, I’m all up for it tbh they ain’t all that bad
