How To Play Harmonica Songs: If You Wanna Get to Heaven (F Harmonica)

- Hi, this is Luke Clebsch saying thanks for watching another one of my harmonica lessons, "How to Play Harmonica Songs: If You Wanna Get to Heaven" by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. The song is in the key of C, so I am playing an F harp in 2nd position (cross-harp.)
When you're learning how to play harmonica, the "train" type riffs are important to spend some time with. "If You Wanna Get to Heaven" is a fantastic one to incorporate.
It's important when you're learning how to play a harmonica song like this that you be very patient, and play the riff slowly and evenly. The speed will come with time. We always want to play everything fast to impress people, but remember, you have to go slower in order to go faster. The speed will come with time, I promise. Rushing will create bad habits.

Hey Man, i have a harmonica for the past 13 years and never got to anything, today i decided i was start to learning more about it and the first song that has come to my mind was this one, thanks for the video!
I talked a lady friend into singing and playing this, so I would finley learn it. She doesn't play solos much on her acoustic guitar so I will have fun. Think it will go over really well.
It is amazing how great using this small part of the harmonica can sound.

I have always loved this song. This is probably the most straightforward explanations I have seen on how to play it. The funny thing is, I have never had a problem bending notes on the draw. it always came naturally to me. I seem to have the hardest time getting my breathing synched, but I am getting there. Thanks for a great tutorial on a great song.

Thanks for the lesson. I looked at a few different versions on this song and started thinking, "who has it right?" I downloaded a slow down app, purchased the song, and found that you have it right on. I haven't gotten the song down yet, but I'm getting there. Keep up the great work. I'm into backpacking and camping and I learn songs on the harmonica to use for my intros. Gotta say, you're good and I have subscribed to you.
Hey Harpdaddy to play that song by supertranps use a D harmonica and the holes used are 5 draw 4 draw 3 draw and 2 draw. Pretty easy to figure it out.
I read the below comments. yes, the "Train, Train' song by Blackfeet would be another Great one to learn for the "Open Mic' nights in OrlandoFL, here I come, Ha. Jesse

You make it look easy Luke. I have a Hohner Blues Harp (F), doesn't sound or look like yours in the video. What type of Lee Oskar is your harp?
Lee Oskar standard tuning, 1st position key of F (2nd potion key of C.) It's a 10-hole diatonic.

Can you do a tutorial for "Heaven nor Hell" by volbeat please. Its the 1 riff that makes me wanna learn. (Even more so "orange blossom special" by johnny cash) iv been a bit affraid to try it coz it sounds horrid IF U CANT PLAY lol. This is probs the only channels that will get me to where i wanna be coz finding decent tutorials for harmonica is like seekin unicorn shit. Thanks for posting this... i am now subscribed.
I know this is an old thread but I have looked everywhere and nowhere can I find how to get the three hole on an F harp to sound that high. Not used to these harps that take so much wind.
