We’ve done the Myakka many times,but never in the preserve. It is on our list to return. I share all of your anxiety and excitement when paddling around, over, next to giant gators! It’s an awesome adventure not many folks get to experience! Stay safe, and paddle on!

I was visiting Myakka just last week on my bike tour but exploring it by kayak is beautiful and seeing those huge gators are little scary.
You are a brave girl Sarah! I've seen those Myakka River gators when working near that bridge. They are ginormous!!

OMG, definitely passing on this one. Today was my third time ever kayaking and I love it, but I hope to never see an alligator, lol.
I have done the hike but kayak?? Lol heck no.. I was up in ocala with friends and did some kayaking.. the alligators were huge! I was terrified but they didn’t bother anyone. When I saw one under my kayak I closed my eyes and waited for death 🤣🤣🤣

Did you use a drone? I have seen some cool drone videos, but you need a license maybe or maybe just do it. But sounds really interesting

Gators dont really mess with kayaks. I would be more concerned during mating season, but i've never heard of anyone getting pulled out of a kayak and only a hand full of times that a kayak got physically harassed by a gator. Every one of those was because they had fish attached or a small dog on it, or were messing the the gator.
It was awesome to watch your trip, not sure I could do this!
