Straight to the point, no bullshit or garrulous derailment. Good job.
Thank you!
Fantastic video! Got me to subscribe. I'm buying the A6500 this week and will be watching all your videos on the camera when I do!
Thank you, I appreciate your subscription!
sigma has some really good e-mount apsc lenses now :)
Thumbs up for getting straight to the point and not waffling bullshit for 30 mins which seems to be commonplace in CZcams at the moment.
Thank you!
wow this vid needs more views! great tips!
Thanks, I'm glad that you like it!
Just in time to help my setup. Thanks
You're welcome, thank you for watching!
Man this is so helpful. Thank you so much

Great vid, man. Liked and subbed.
Thank you, I appreciate your subscription.
I recently got the a6500 and didn't know you could increase the video recording limit. Thanks for the useful info!
You're welcome, I'm glad that it was useful'
hye...if installed that tweak..dont have any problem at your camera like ibis issue??
No, I don't have any problems at all.
Cool video overview, nice channel idea too.
Thank you!
I noticed a trick that helps with the 4k dimming. Turning on the "Gamma Disp. Assist" with S-Log2 mode significantly brightens the screen even when you're not shooting S-Log2.
+Marko Grönroos thanks, I will try it.
Legend
That actually worked, wow. But is it bright enough to shoot 4k in sunlight is the question.
The first option you said was what I looking. Thanks
You're welcome!
Awesome video this is gold

great tips!
Thanks!
I’m thinking to buy one? I’m interested on neon photography and low light , do you recommend it for me?
Thank you for this. I was considering this camera for my channel, because of the 4K, but now I think I might wait and see if Canon will finally join us all in 2017 and come out with a 4K shooter.
Cheers!
That is actually very interesting topic, considering that new 6D mark II doesn't have 4K at all and that canon's implementation of 4K in 5D mark IV is unusable, I don't expect Canon coming out with usable 4K camera anytime soon. In their DSLR line, 4K would cause much more serious problems than those mentioned in this video and in their mirrorless line, they couldn't even manage to provide flawless 1080p camera. I would definitely say that Sony and Panasonic are much better bet for 4K in 2017 (and 2018 as well). Both Sony and Panasonic starting with A6300 and G7 are great for 4K video.
The Hybrid Shooter I'm currently use a Sony FDR-AX53 for shooting my videos.
I bought a large eye cup. Its amazing, and perfect for outdoors
I also intent to buy one, but I'm waiting for cheaper alternatives.
Useful info! Where did you get your matte screen protector that helped with the brightness?
Thanks, it is just iPad screen protector that I have cut so that it fits A6500 screen.
Regarding the battery life, I'd like to share my solution if you don't mind.
First, if you only want replacement batteries and can get these in the country you live in they are the largest capacity stock size battery I've found at 1500mAh each: amzn.to/2sxY99p
Second, I shoot racing events where the action is fast and I can't go down often to change batteries so if you dont mind adding weight to the camera I highly recommend getting a dummy battery and a plate to work with NP-F970 batteries as they are 8800mAh. They typically last about 8-10 hours of recording 4k and shooting pics.
Dummy battery with plate: amzn.to/2rAJ0mL
NP-F970 8800mAh battery: amzn.to/2rAmryu
Thanks for the tips, I will probably be getting more batteries from abroad and will look at those. NP-F970 is a bit too much for me personally, I don´t need that kind of recording time, but for someone who does it is great solution. I have also ordered Meike MK-A6500 grip that accommodates 2 batteries which is at the moment enough for me. Thanks for the comment, I really like your channel!
Hey Jay,
Thanks for the helpful info! Is there less overheating (or any) while using the NPF Batteries? I imagine it is quite hot on a race track. Also, how do you accomodate for rolling shutter with fast cars? Would like to read your input on this. Thanks.
I've heard DSTE and Wasabi make good NPF Batteries. Also, this is kinda ghetto, but I've seen a video where a person uses ice packs to cool down a Sony camera for shooting in the heat. Not sure I would recommend this because I read it's bad for the internals of the camera. There's also a cage you can buy that has a fan in the bottom to cool the camera. A battery grip will act as more of a heatsink than the one in the camera initially though, and you could even attach a Sony NPF adapter plate with a Sony dummy battery adapter to the battery grip. A cage even without the fan will still cool the camera. Also, to help with the dim screen during 4K recording, you can attach a Matte Screen Protecter, as well as a screen hood. You could buy one of those cheap LCDVF on Ebay or Amazon for around $7 or less, cut halfway through with a hacksaw, sand it down, attach the magnetic frame to the screen, and now you have a hood for your screen. Also, you could take off the rubber piece from the magnetic frame with the 1/4 screw, and attach it directly under the camera between the battery grip. It's thin enough. If you have any questions please let me know. I'd like to help, but you might have already done the shoot already!
Subscribed!
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Thanks for the video, good to know the weaknesses before buying. Some of the fixes are more work arounds than actual fixes but I guess if you could fix the problem it would be a problem in the first place. Oh well, who will make the perfect camera first..??
You're welcome, thank you for watching!
Thoughtful review. Note that the LA-EA3 gives you more options than the Sigma adapter. You can mount any alpha mount lens including the superb SAL165028(aps-c 16-50 constant f2.8) plus sigma and tamron lenses as well. Likewise, with IBIS, manual focus legacy lenses (particularly primes) are a superb option for this body.
Thanks, I have considered A mount adapter (LA-EA4 since I would like to have AF-C in video) but I haven't found it to be a good option for me. LA-EA4 is quite bulky, the translucent mirror uses certain amount of light for focusing, you can´t shoot video below f/3.5 and it can only use small amount of focus points.
Sigma MC-11 offers full functionality with their compatible lenses and works well with most Canon EF lenses, so it is much better option for me.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
LA-EA3 (Does not work with in video) works with newer Sony lenses (with build in motors) Some Sigma HSM lenses are incompatible (Sigma 17-70mm 2.8-4 MACRO HSM) . Tamron SP Di 90mm MACRO works only manual with 2.8 aperture. On the other side Sigma MC-11 works with Sigma Contemporary, Sport and Art lenses. Other lense can work but not fully compatible.
Im thinking about taking my camera in to get repaired at the sony place out my way, i lose 3% battery every 60 seconds, i dont remember my camera ever draining this fast, i even bought some brand new batteries thinking maybe it was the battery but nope, same thing with the new batteries, i watched the camera lose 40% battery life in 12 minutes of continuous recording at 120 fps smh, do you have this issue or maybe any advice?
good video
Thanks!
what lens did you use to film this and on what camera, btw great video!
Thanks, I always put that in the description:

Wow, thanks for replying, keep up the great work!
how about the autofocus when using the adapter?
Great review! How much was your lens extension to mount the Sigma lens and which one is it? Thanks!!
Thank you, it is Sigma MC-11 Adapter - goo.gl/gTLw8L
Good video, I had a question. I seem to get noise in my 4k video at most ISO. Wondering if you have a similar issue. If you do what do you do to fix?
I don't have problems with noise up to ISO 1600 maybe even 3200, there isn't much to do about that, you just need to stay below the level where the noise is acceptable for you. You can do that by limiting ISO to 3200 in ISO settings.
What camera did you use to film this video? If it was a sony, what picture profile/colour settings? Also what lens? You earned a sub btw! Great content, keep making it...
Thanks, I apreciate your subscription, video with A6500 in frame and batteries unboxing is shot with Panasonic G85 (G80) and Panasonic 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens, still photos of A6500 were shot with Nikon D5500 and 40mm F2.8 Nikkor lens, other shots (outdoor battery shot, rolling shutter test) were shot with A6500 + Sigma 18-35mm F2.8 + Sigma MC-11. thanks, for the 18-35 shots, was it auto focus or manual? and can you do a tutorial on your grade? it looks really good!
Shot with the battery was manual override + auto focus afterwords, other shots were autofocus, because it works great.
Yes, I can make a tutorial, will put it on the schedule. Also check out my Sigma 18-35mm review for more samples.
When you disable the recording limit, is that just in 1080 or 4k as well?
For both 4K and 1080p.
Good video, as always... Regarding lenses... Since you video was published to CZcams, we have had a plethora of lenses (both MF and AF) become available from third party sources. I particularly like the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 as well as the Samyng 12mm f/2.0 (The Sigma 16mm f/1.4 should be a great lens also but, I have no experience with this lens). Although the Sony 85mm f/1.8 is designed for full frame cameras, it works just great on the A6500 and is not terribly large. The new Sigma 56mm f/1.4 should be a great portrait glass on the A6500! What I would like to see is a small form factor tele zoom with a bit better performance and faster aperture than the 55-210mm Sony kit lens... I could actually live with a small prime of around 135mm and an f/stop of f/2.8 and with auto focus.
Thank you, yes, there has been a lot of development, and there is a lot of good lenses available for A6500, although some lenses are still missing, especially 16-55mm F2.8.
For the 4K video brightness issue.. this can be fixed by looking at the shooting modes.. if you swap to the S&Q modes... (scroll down) they stay at full brightness and 4k 120 still....
Doesn't work on my A6500.
I don’t understand what you mean by how to do this - s&q doesn’t work that way does it?
I asking your opinion, overall is this a good camera to use?
Yes, it is in my opinion.
I own the Sony a6500 and I've never had any problems with overheating. I've honestly never had any problems with it and I shoot in Miami and recording for hours at a time on the beach for certain jobs. I used to own the a6300 and it overheated constantly, especially when shooting on the beach in the middle of the day... as for the rest of your list: the menu is definitely not as good as Canon's. The lens selection isn't great, but definitely has some good choices; especially if you own the a7 series and use FF lenses on it. But again, definitely not as good of selection as Canon's. The rolling shutter is definitely bad, but like the video said, it can be fixed in post and isn't really visible unless you do really quick pans. The battery life is definitely a problem, but also like the video said, it's a small camera with a lot of big features. The display sucks and you definitely can't see anything if you're shooting outside. And the recording limit is standard for all DSLR & mirrorless cameras, so it's not really a fault with the a6500 in particular. If you want to record longer than 30min, you'll have to upgrade to an Fs7 or Canon's C series.
No overheating with mine A6500 as well, menu system is a matter of preference, I just like the horizontal layout, I even like it more than Panasonic menu. With sunny weather setting, and matte foil, display actually works well with sills, but dimming while shooting 4K is really bad. Since I have removed recording limit (as shown in video) that is not a problem at all.
Thanks for watching and sharing your experiences!
i never had overheating on my a6300, seems that the quality control isn't so consistent
Does the autofocus still work when you use an adapter? Thank you!
Depends on what lens and what adapter you use, but most of the time it does.
Thank you so much for showing the product you're reviewing rather than your face. Most v-loggers are narcissists who want their damn face to be the center of attention more than anything else.
You're welcome, I also prefer it that way.
What Camera? lens was used to film this ??
It is in the description:

Confused? Can anybody tell me... how much time we can record 4k with one full battery on sony a6500. I'm looking for gh5 or a6500. Expert advice needed. Thanks
About 45mins continually with A6500 before battery dies. About 2-2.5 hours on GH5
irst of all ....it very informative video ........10q very much!
right now i have decide to buy a digital camera for the first time with the price between 800-1500 dollar so that i have a few questions for you
1.can you recommend me a 4k best camera with this price including battery and lense(18-135mm)?
2.if not which one of the following camera is your best canon 80d(1080p+dual AF) vs lumix g80 (4k) and gh5 (4k) vs nikon d7500(4k) vs sony a7ii(full frame + 1080p)vs sony a6500(4k + 425 af)?
Note:-i need this digital camera for music clip production+photo studio work
For your purposes the GH5 will probably be the best if the budget allows it, Sony A6500 is also good alternative but it is difficult to work with.
10q..but 1.why u select gh5 over others because when i saw from youtube lessons it's autofocus is bad and also it's sensor size is less than APS-C Sensor
2.why it is difficult to work with sony a6500(even if there are some limitations especially battery, overheating during 4k recording and display quality issues)?
1. The autofocus was significantly improved with FW update in May 2018 and next autofocus update will be out in October. 2. Exactly because of limitations mentioned in this video + not very good handling.
So does the camera just die if it overheats and doesn't autopower off??
According to the tests and reviews that I have seen, the camera won't die, my A6500 doesn't even overheat, so I honestly don't know what would happen.
If shoot 1080p it can course overheat?
No, there are no problems when shooting 1080p. I haven't had any issues even when shooting 4K.
can you confirm that 6500 with firmware 1.04 or newer this open memories tweak does not fix anything anymore? such as video limit, language menu
No, everything still works with 1.04
Thank you, I have firmware 1.05 and used method without installing app, directly by windows app pmca-gui-v0.17-win.exe, everything unlocked.
What is camera and lens are you filming this video? Thanks.
Video with A6500 in frame and batteries unboxing is shot with Panasonic G85 (G80) and Panasonic 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens, still photos of A6500 were shot with Nikon D5500 and 40mm F2.8 Nikkor lens, other shots (outdoor battery shot, rolling shutter test) were shot with A6500 + Sigma 18-35mm F2.8 + Sigma MC-11. Can you charge this camera from a power bank through the USB port and use it at the same time (for example to record video)?
Yes, you can.
my power bank wont charge while its on, when its off yeah
And can you use it plugged into external power without a battery inside the body?
What is the output of your power bank?
It shows the charging indicator when I plug it in the power bank.
No, it will not turn on without battery. Even plugged in, it sill drains the battery a bit, so it will record for a long time, but eventually it will run out of battery.
Are you Portuguese? ;-)
No, I am from Slovakia.
What adapter do you use?
+jenijerom Sigma MC-11
the a6400 has fixed overheating, recording limit , screen dim in 4k and menu selection. I'm tempted to get the a6400 over the a6500. do you think the IBIS really helps with the sigma 16mm, 30mm and 56mm ?
That is my issue too!
@@unemamanetsesmamzelles2847 might have to get 6400 and get a gimbal a bit later. I'm not often doing fast tracking shots just slow pans and tilts so can use my handheld skills for that. gimbal will come handy for action! a6400 for newer software thoughhh
Hi , i would like to ask your opinion about this camera Sony a6500? is it worth it on comparison with a Canon 80D ?
thank you,
pls check my videos and in the future i hope will bring more videos with a6500. thnx
+Vatan Beqrama Canon 80D Has no 4K video, so it is not suitable for me, if you don't need 4K, 80D is a good camera with great lens selection.
120 fps in a6500 at 1080p, I love slow motion
So do I.
Cheers! This video that will shame all cry baby vloggers and fault finders who begin their opening lines "got this unit from my own pocket or the camera brand did not sponsor this vlog, etc. etc.". More power to you and your endeavors!
Well, thank you! It is truth that people tend to complaint rather than try to get as much as possible out of what they have. I prefer the opposite approach.
The Sony E-mount is much more popular than the Sony A, in my opinion.
It definitely is and A99 II may also be the last A-mount camera to be made, so I don´t expect any new A-mount lenses.
too bad I'm stuck with it :\ Do you know of any adapters from A to E?
There is a couple of those, Sony makes LAEA4 with translucent mirror, but it is quite bulky, the translucent mirror uses certain amount of light for focusing, you can´t shoot video below f/3.5 and it can only use small amount of focus points. Not sure about other adapters but LAEA4 unfortunately has a lot of drawbacks IMO.
thanks! I guess I'll just stick to vintage eBay finds for now :)
I'm a little sad to see the Minolta A-mount go quietly.
Hi, great tips. Quick question about your link.
Openmemories Tweak: github.com/ma1co/Sony-PMCA-RE...
How do you do it again? I'm new to Sony and not sure which file to choose and how to install. Can you please explain the process?
Thank you.
Thanks, here is very good tutorial: czcams.com/video/V6tY2ONZy-U/video.html
The Hybrid Shooter Thank you.
Thanks for the amazing video.
But with sigma lenses, you lose the auto-focus, which was the point behind buying the sony camera in the first place!
No, you don't loose autofocus at all.
really? can you plz share few sigma lenses in which autofocus is equally quick or at least working when mounted on a6300?
All Sigma DN lenses and Canon EF lenses when used with Sigma MC-11 adapter from compatibility list.
Thanks very much... Can you please do a detailed review about all the lenses which can be mounted on sony a6000 series cameras? It would be very helpful, and I am sure it will get many many views, likes, and subscribers.. I subscribed! God Bless!
Sony just released a new lens for E APS-C - after 4 1/2 years - so it just burns me - they seem to want to push their users to their FF A7 bodies with mostly all Zeiss and GM lenses - that are very costly - and yes no 24-70mm F2.8 or 70-200mm F2.8 or F1.4 primes in Native E APS-C - I do not see Sony improving this anytime soon.
Yes I do not like the menu system -
The Touch LCD is not good - sensitivity
My thought is that the body needs to be a tad taller and wider - a deeper grip -
So, your fix to the low battery life is to buy an extra couple of batteries?
Who would've thought?
Just go with Gh5, no need to fix anything
Autofocus needs to be fixed on GH5, but unlike these annoyances on A6500, I don't know how to fix Panasonic's AF :(
So far I am using one area with +5 speed and +1 responsiveness and it works totally fine lol, and the firmware 2.0 just came out, the face tracking is a lot more reliable
Sold My GH5 and Bought the A6500, Very Happy with the Stunning Focus
Cesar Abraham i sold my sony setup and moved entirely to m43, very happy with all yhe features and happily manual focusing
How is that a solution to fix everything? The GH5 is almost $2k more than the A6500. I think if everyone COULD afford the GH5 or the A7RII, they would have bought it already...
