The Great Yard Cleanup: You won't Believe whats under all of this Mess!

- This backyard required some major renovation. When a yard gets to this length it is nearly impossible for the average family, with average equipment, to get it back into shape - that's where I come in. In this episode, which is part 2, you'll see me helping out a young family and slowly getting their yard back to normal. Everything that was taken away was done at the request of the owners, and it came up very well, so watch until the end. Hopefully, you will be as shocked as the homeowners at this amazing transformation. All up, I spent around 10 hours on this section, with 3 trips to the landfill and recycling station. This is part 2 of 3.

FAQ's:
Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘🦘🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs!
Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin!
Q: What happened to Brent?
A: Brent quit at the start of August 2022.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷♂️
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee!
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. Currently, I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k on a good ride on mower.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on in there.
4. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering we always take the green waste away.
5. I will get one as soon as all of the above are solved.
Q: What happened to your workers?
A: Because the work is so hard and I expect high standards, most have quit over time. The only exception so far is Nick!
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jims Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia. - Zábava

I enjoy the music!
Me too - good selections!
Nice one George. The discovery of the paved area under the grass.... Gold.
Great work clearing that paved area. Many would not have bothered
What an unusual yard. It was like an archeological dig...so many layers to cut down through! Move over Time Team!
Gee whizz George, you sure have a steel back 😮 I'd have shed a few tears by now 🙄. You are good people. This entire neighborhood will be in top top shape 😊 thanks to you
Nice job on this one. That was a hell of a lot of work, George! Hard to believe you found a patio under all that grass. Looking forward to part 3!
Whew, tired just watching all that work! 👍👍
There are a few things that make you unique. Your thoroughness, the music to the video and the sound of your lawn broom raking together. Greetings from Germany!
cheers 🙂🙋♂️
George I like the short intro to your videos and how with a few camera shots you show the work that awaits you. You are a perfectionist with a big heart ♥️!
Can’t wait to see part 3, that yard is going to look great after you are done ✅!
God bless you, thank you 🙏🏼🌟🌹😊
Greetings from Melbourne, Victoria. Great work George. To those families and people you help, you would be an absolute hero. Thank you.
hello 🙂🙋♂️
Only you would tackle such a huge disaster and make it so very nice! You are 1 of a kind George! God bless you!!
George I have to give you your props ! You are a very hard worker. You're like the Energizer bunny that just keeps going ! True Dedication ! What an amazing transformation this one has been so far and I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of it. Thank you for sharing and I'm sure the owner(s) are absolutely satisfied with what you have accomplished.
I just LOVE your work ethic. Everything done the way it should be done. The homeowners are so blessed to have you work on their property. I never want your videos to end. Beautiful work!
A patio? That was completely unexpected. I love watching you work. You pay such attention to detail, never leaving any little vines or grass on the fence. You are not only a true professional, but a very talented lawn artist. When you complete a job, the lawn just shines. Your little top heavy trash can just kept falling over throughout the whole job. That would have driven me crazy, but you just picked it up and kept going. Awesome job! Can’t wait for part 3. ❤️
The last thing I expected to see was a brick-paved area! Impossible to believe!🤩
The fact that you carry away all waste puts you at the top of my ist. Thank you.
My goodness George you're such a hard worker 👏 and what a transformation 👍😁
You always get big jobs. And do super detailed work👍
Yikes, unearthing an entire patio is quite a feat. Great work on this multi-level yard. Being on a slant all day makes it even harder. Really enjoying this transformation. They are lucky to have you. Stay safe out there.
Hi George! Just wanted to reiterate all that l love about your transformation and reveal videos is how you tackle each section with multiple detailing techniques and equipment uses to expose these yards as they were originally intended. Your videos are a great example and answer to the age old question, "How do you eat an Elephant?… one bite at a time“. There were so many different kinds of reveals on this one. I liked the interlock stone patio reveal and removal of the trampoline. So much work and effort is noted down to the detailed cleaning of each section. Keep up the great work. I am inspired and look at overgrown yards differently now to see their full potential. Cheers!
Hi George
You are to be commended for taking on a task like this.
You've convinced me there is one great man in Australia.
This is lawn care to the max.
Way past doing some mowing and weed whacking.
Your attention to detail, and thoroughness shines through in every part of the job.
You've uncovered areas that the owner probably hasn't seen in ages.
Wishing you the best of success in all you do.
Stay safe
Your attention to detail is unsurpassed, George! So glad you are back, better than ever!
Recap :
A dozen trips to the local dump = $ An arm and a leg
A well manicured lawn = Priceless
😇❤
Cheers, part 3 will be in 2 weeks. I have another smaller job this week, then ill be back to finish off here the week after 👍
I don't know which is worse.......unearthing a lawn/garden from a jungle, or doing what you did in unearthing hardscape and removing junk from thick overgrown grass. You now have the back 40 to clear out and tidy up. Wow is the word that fits so far. You looked like you had to have a sore back and other unsundery parts after all that. Kudos to you.
Oh George poor poor guy😮💨😮💨😮💨. This Yard is absolute catastrophic. So many work for you alone🥺🥺🥺🫣🫣🫣🥵🥵🥵LG from Susi Blackforest 👋👋👋🥰🥰🥰😘😘😘
Wow where do you get your stamina from, your attention to detail is incredible, you never leave anything you take everything away, can’t wait for third video ❤❤🇬🇧
Well done George, fantastic transformation as always 😊
Thanks Jayne 🙂🤗
Very satisfying video and exhausting just watching the amount of work you put in.
Omg!!! That patio looks horrendous!! God bless you!! That took a LOT of work and time!!
Another masterpiece!! Who else dismantles a trampoline and takes it to recycling???? Love you, George!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nice job George
You must like what you do as it shows in your workmanship...Great job..🥰😍🤩
Hello George, you must of slept well that night! The brick patio was crazy! When I see you take your hat off and pause, I knew that was an exhausting task. God bless you for all you do. And he will indeed bless you. Joyce ❤️🙏🇺🇸Connecticut, USA
I greatly admire your approach and process. You "eat the elephant one bite at a time." You work in sections, with patience, persistence and meticulousness. It has to be a great feeling admiring the completion of a difficult section before moving on to the next. Well done, Good Sir. Well done!
Homeowners should hit the concrete with their kneecaps for having Saint George give them back their gardens!
Excellent job SG as always. ❤
😮💨 another 👍🏻 job, George. A lot of people get trampolines in their garden & hardly use them. I’ve got that next 🚪 waste of money 💰. Hi 👋🏻 from Stevenston, North Ayrshire, Bonnie Scotland 🏴
That brick patio was well worth uncovering! The skinks would give me the willies! Good job I live in UK!
This inspires me to keep chipping away at my very overgrown garden, whenever i look at the big picture and feel like giving in to nature. Just wish i had a fraction of your energy!
Me too not to mention it’s good exercise too.
Great job
Смотрю ваши видео из Ташкента.Очень нравится ,как вы работаете.Всегда жду новые видео.Успехов вам в вашей работе!
😮 George that was a MEGA job 👍🏆 I bet nextdoor is pleased you done ALL that, because they've got more light now in that window👍 aww the wee lizard 🦎❤
😊 Wow great work you do .All the time on every video . I never get tired of watching you. 👍👍♥️.
You don't do 100% George. You do 150%. And this yard is no exception. I love watching your transformations.
What an incredible job you did. Bravo!
George you amaze me every episode. You are one of the best yard men I’ve seen on CZcams. I’d come work for you for free, although I’m in Florida and 80 years old. Thanks for making and elderly many Happy. 😊😎❤️
I'm exhausted just watching you George! That was epic
Excelente trabajo 🎉 felicidades 😊
Nice job outside you did in all that junk in the yard. What must the inside look like? Plenty of filth 😮.
Wow that brick patio was hiding under there. Great job.
What a difference! Not much to find in that grass... 😄 Really appreciate the music instead of the high pitch whine of the equipment when it's sped up. Can't wait for part 3! 💚
Incredible job so far!
George...you really did a number on this yard! It's like these people will have a whole new lease on backyard life! Well done! I'm soooo glad you're back! You're videos are so transformative...I never get tired of watching your content!
Congratulations on your meticulous work and the background music of the video! Great job 👍😃
It all looked so haphazard and wild. And little by little, you started unearthing the terracing, which was a surprise. Especially the brick patio 😲. The topography of that yard is all slope, going sideways from a user point of reference, so a challenge to landscape, and an even bigger challenge to keep maintained I suspect. The trampoline was very ready to go 👍💯. Nice work George 💚💚💚.
What a mighty effort George, I bet you were knackered after that one, so many interesting finds as well 😂👏👏 ❤
Above & beyond.. digging up the bricked area, that looks amazing. I love that!!
Great that you could haul off the trampoline. You really went above and beyond with this yard cleanup.
Спасибо! всегда очень классно! профессионально!
Oh George, what a great job you did on this yard! This was a total archeological dig! I expected you to start turning up sarcophagi and mummies! How the heck does an entire lawn grow over a brick patio?! You are the hardest worker on CZcams! ❤️🇨🇦
George, a couple of observations:
When doing these overgrown lawns, doesn’t it make sense to raise the mower up high, cut the grass (not bagging it) and go back after raking into piles for removal and then go over with the catcher. Currently, you’re having to dump the catcher many times at the start.
Also, it seems the site you bring your clippings and rubbish accepts commingled waste. Not requiring you to separate the rubbish from the grass clippings. Is that right? That’s convenient.
Birmingham, ALABAMA USA here. This is an incredible video! It is by far the most amazing most difficult one I’ve seen! Kudos to you for doing this. Wow!
Uncovering that 'hidden' patio looked like a back-breaking job - bet you were glad when you got to the last bit. Incidentally, all those nasturtium leaves you had to pull out, they make a nice salad - add a few heritage tomatoes, chives, feta cheese, black pepper, etc., and a good olive oil 😋 Great video.
Whew! That patio was a back-breaker! So glad to see that view-blocking eyesore of a trampoline, though!
Never better, you are capable of achieving the impossible.Your simplicity makes you different .Keep it up.😊
Thank you 🤗
That yard must have been neglected for a very long time for the silt to cover that brick patio and sod to grow over it like that. Totally unexpected. You are incredibly methodical in your approach. Can't wait for part #3.
I am always amazed at the incredible hardscaping you uncover when you remove that aggressive and tenacious grass! The yards always look incredible!
Hi from Geelong, Victoria. I love watching you work; you are thorough, always leaving a place 100% better. This was a huge clear up, the rubbish, grass cuttings, shrubs etc. you have great energy. Best of luck doing this, regards
Мой Бог😱 какой огромный и тяжелый труд, был проделан!!!!👍👏 отличная работа!!! Сил, позитива, вдохновения!!! Респект!!!!!
I'm noting that the finding and clearing of the back walkway made a big difference, and being added to that, is the rediscovery of the terraces and their walls. The brick...pathway...became a very unexpected patio. Was glad, as you sorted this hidden puzzle, that the cleared plant on the one fence allowed the neighbor to have sunlight for a window again. You put in a lot of work and it is not only recovering the yard but allow it to start shifting to new uses, in present time.
I am always amazed by how much landscaping some of these yards have, to be lost to mother nature and time. Thank you for bringing this yard back to a fresh start.
George, what a great outcome, for that section. Next bit looks crazy, but I know you will do a awesome job.
Greetings from south korea.amazing transformation as always .you always do the work as if you're cleaning your own backyard ❤
You weren't kidding when you said the back yard was huge. Excellent job George!
You don’t need to spend time in a boring gym & you get a great sense of accomplishment. 😅😊😊😊
Great job George, you definitely had your hands full with this part of the yard cleanup.amazing what you find under all the overgrown yard.your work ethic is at the very top.kudos to you sir for making such a difference.just keep doing what your doing.👍👍👍😎😎😎
While watching, all I kept saying was, Are you kidding me? Beautiful work. I'm so tired from just watching!! You deserve a spa day after this!
What an amazing transformation, George!!! 👌😎👍
quero parte 2😊❤
George, you have done an AMAZING job on this property so far, and I know it will continue in the next video. Your work ethics are impeccable. You also happen to be one of the nicest men on You Tube! I really wish more people would click on that LIKE button, and give you the rewards that you truly deserve. I wish I could give you 1000 likes. You sure earn them!
Amen!
Boy! You just never know what you will uncover on a neglected piece of property. Amazing!
Amazing transformation
George you are amazing. Your work ethic is out of this world.
Your work ethic is beyond reproach. To tear down a trampoline and unearth a brick patio in addition to mowing and trimming...BRAVO!
That brick patio was a surprise! Another fantastic project. (And cute skink, btw.)
Excavating that patio would be one day for me. Where do you get your energy and strength?😮
Le sette fatiche di Ercole non sono niente , in confronto al lavoro che hai svolto in questo giardino ! Magico il suono del tuo rastrello che accompagnano la tua pazienza e dedizione ! Un bacio dall' Italia! 😊
Great start George ! Look forward to seeing how this goes . Well done 👍
That is a lot of work for one person, thanks for sharing it is quite the change. Charles
U have done a great job well done looks lovely 😍 👌
The neighbors must be thrilled ❤I can’t imagine how hard this was to do. You’re a beast ❤God bless you ❤
How do the people live there? Omg, I would get frustrated living like that.
You are incredible George..a Superstar. I wish you lived in NZ and I would pay you every cent you deserve and more to work for me. I hope the people who have neglected that property deserve to have you working so hard for them. You are the best on You Tube and the only lawncare channel I watch now because nothing compares to you. You really are amazing. I always look forward to your next video and am so glad you stayed. Thank you!
The brick pavers sure surprised me! It’s amazing how nature can literally take over!
All that was missing whilst finding that brick area was a few gold coins
What h.p is the lawn mower…and make,thanks
Amen 🙏
it is crazy when you go and price a job and you think it is cutting the grass and doing a clean up and then you find that there is this huge brick patio area that needs dug out. George, did you know that was there at the beginning or did you just discover it along the way?
I only realised when I started working on the area and I just couldn't leave it covered 🙂
@@QuickCuts It was also a work of art. Probably Hobart made bricks too.
@@QuickCuts te admiro! Fuerte abrazo desde Argentina 🇦🇷❤️
Какой же вы трудолюбивый ! Всегда восхищаюсь вашим умением приводить участки в идеальный порядок!
G' Day George of the Jungle !! There is a theme appearing in the Lawn Guy's I follow, this week. It's called "Reclaiming the back patio from the Bush!!" We've graduated from the "Chuck it out the back door theme, to What's under the Bush Brush ??" Can't wait to see it "pop" if you decide to PW all that brick !! Nice job as always. (Food for thought video ideas - George's favorite places in Hobart series.) It's 1:30 am in Hobart and 14c. It's 11:30 am in Montreal and 18c.
Какой сложный участок!!! Работа очень большая, а результат великолепный!!. Вы большой молодец!!!❤
what a fabulous and amazing transformation ! really ; hard and painful work you did .Thank you for sharing this special video.
What a great job ..looks great now
Great video too 😊😊😊😊
Back breaking job, to keep weeds at bay, they need to spray a table salt, and vinegar mix. That kills weeds, without using dangerous chemicals., just a thought. Great job well done! 👍
That is such a fantastic job. Looks 100 percent better. I know it had to be difficult doing it alone.
Amazing! Simply amazing, George. That's a wicked little mower you have there. Some of those plants, the deep pink flowered ones looked suspiciously like bindweed, a gardeners nightmare; they can never really be eradicated, and one has to keep a vigilant eye open for them. And, as for finding that brick patio, well, lol, that was well hidden; very unexpected. You made short work of the dismantling of that trampoline too, tho I suspect that it was made to look easy with the editing, but I can imagine just how many silent curse words you were throwing at it, :). In any event, once again you turn chaos in order with this one, and I can't wait to see the next installment; the finale of that yard? Awesome video!
What a nice kid friendly space that must’ve been back in the day. I thought the patio might’ve been a car park but it didn’t make sense. And the square area against the fence, a barbecue maybe? Looking forward to your next video!
