- I was driving around looking for a yard to clean up when I saw this property and noticed a pile of junk in the backyard. Believe it or not, I'd already visited 2 other properties and the residents said no to a free cleanup. Sometimes it just amazes me when people say no to a free Transformation!
After seeing the tenant about to leave in his drive, I walked up and offered my services, and he also initially refused as well. After a bit of fast talking, I managed to convince him that it was a good idea to get the job done, and he would be amazed. Let me tell you, his wife was amazed and truly thankful to finally have a nice yard to look at and for a safe area for their son to play. All up, I spent around 13 hours on this job, including 4 trips to the landfill.

Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷♂️
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem to be the same?

My dad worked nights for 21 years and never ever were we living in a total mess like that, what the heck does it take to pick up the rubbish, it's disgusting how people live, lazy and totally blind to the mess they are living in 😮
...and a double metal bedframe/trampoline/'hard' junk piles and old sofa etc,etc do not "blow in" from the street🤣🤣

To be fair, those items could have been left by a previous tenant and the landlord just cares about the money. Also, some cultures/countries don’t see it as trash like others do or have the disposal capacity.

If George turned up to my place I would faint, with excitement.
Someone may refuse a cleanup for many reasons such as liability, shame, embarrassment or there is a catch. Maybe if you had a paper you and the person could sign that would guarantee it was free and you would not hold them liable would make a difference.
There are probably enough people out there that would accept your gift that you do not have to go to so much trouble.
Hoarders? Maybe they have difficulty letting go. Even stuff we call trash.
Maybe they think he's like a drug dealer - free samples so they get hooked on having a tidy yard.

Not so, Tim the lawnmower guy and Blademate lawn care are a couple who do great jobs. Also Jason at Lushcut lawns. All Australian people, check them out as they are as good as George, who we know is great at cleaning up folks yards.

Like the way you organized clearing the garbage, trashes. Then section by section cut the unwanted branches, trees, trimmimg, lastly cut the grass. Neatness, looks good! All for free service, thumbs up!!!!

It amazes me that the tenants couldn’t make some effort to keep the place tidy. I work 70 hours a week and I keep my place tidy. My father would put my butt out there at 7 y/o and had me clean up the trash or I would have gotten a whooping. Oh well, still I love the videos.

Regardless of how the garbage got there, what stood out for me was what the parents are teaching a 7yr old that that's ok. He should have a chore to pick it up, they have garbage bins. George spent 1/3 of the video just with the garbage.

I should probably bookmark this. You can actually see halation effect in the middle, the 20 or 21 minute or so place. A large "sunbeam" just sits in the middle of the frame for a while. When i try to describe halation effect to the visually not impaired, people try to tell me it doesn't exist and I'm making it up. I get that halation effect all the time, especially when trying to read light text on a dark background (imagine rays like that "sunbeam" coming out from all directions from the letters). It gives me migraine-like headaches. Re the cleanup - at spots even the honored silver-colored garbage can wasn't enough for the degree of debris involved and large garbage bags were used instead... wow... you are really a champ for tackling this one. Great job as always.

The "Wake up" from Neffex gave me chills. You need to know, that Neffex never got into the Charts here in Germany. I heard it from my daughter years ago and then I took over and put it on my "workflow playlist". I often hear it while I am cleaning or decluttering something. But not in my garden. I prefer totally silence cause I'm a hundret percent focussed. It is like meditation. It is the only environment where I am so out of this world, that don't even touch my smartphone. It's kind of a detox.
When I tell my kids: "Let me take a quick look on the garden...", they reply: "Ok, see you in 6 hours..." 😇
I will never understand how people can trash up a beautiful back yard like that. The view is incredible! Maybe they spent their time looking at the view instead of the disaster of their property. That 7 year old is certainly old enough to pick up some trash once in a while to help keep it tidy. However, it if weren't for those kind of people, you wouldn't have such amazing videos to showcase your skills, your patience, and your willingness to make it perfect. Great job, George. As always!!

Being kind can only truly be done without judgement. Love that you just see a need and don’t judge. Pretty sure a lot of that stuff was left behind, and not from current tenants. Pallets under the deck - I doubt the tenant put them there. Landlords create an expectation and a behaviour when they turn a property over in a bad condition, maybe that’s what happened here. Maybe not, but wow, what a gift you have given all concerned!

Tremendous job. Well done! Hubby was knackared so we had a young fellow come mow the grass for us but we still maintain the garden beds. Can't wait for all the bulbs to poke their heads up in September. I always get a surprise because I forget where I put them back in May. Hehehe. God bless you and all the garderners who help us out.
