    Hi Griff it would be nice to see the wheel bearings done on a Tuono Factory mines a 15 plate but anything that shows it for all models would be nice for others to follow. It a simple job but for some a video would give them the confidence with the video to do it themselves. Keep up the great work mate

    I know you're talented Griff but never expected to see you'd grown a third arm (pointing out how to inspect the dog bone)😂
    I'll be returning to a gen1 after several years, KTMs and BMWs later. Best fun you can have with your clothes on is still the visceral experience of piloting a gen1RSV mille. Real world useable power and the best sound track ever...lovely bikes.

    Nice Griff, would be nice to see in a follow up how to get to the dog bone bolt blocked by the exhaust on gen2's...once and for all :))

      Great Information, startet unbolting it on my Gen2 RSV 06. Is there a way to get the dog bone out without disassemble the complete exhaust system?

      I'm desperate to get this job done too on my gen 2 Tuono. From the state of the thing and the mounds of crud that were over it I don't think it's been done for a while. I tried tackling it today but that b*****d mid section exhaust is in the way. I've taken off the cans and springs from the mid but it needs to lower a smidge more. Do I need to take off one of the head sections?

    Thank you guys, i am working on my gen 1 rsv and was looking at the linkage thinking i should check this. I love all the video’s about the rsv, very informative and even fun to watch. Can i also do this on a rear paddock stand?

    Just doing my rear suspension on my gen 2, and unless I’m doing something wrong!!! To remove one of the bolts I’ve had to remove the collector box as said bolt cannot come out. Only problem is the front down pipe has to be removed to allow the box to be pulled out of the rear down tube. This means removing many parts radiator and oil cooler etc. In other words a real pain in the arse!!!!

      If you remove the silencers and exhaust springs, you can move the exhaust down enough to get access to that bolt/pin and get it out.

      @@vinrow7671 thanks, I’ve now fitted the bolt round the other way so I don’t have to take the front down pipe off again, which is a real pain👍

    Could you do a video of changing the swingarm bearing? You would need to take the whole swingarm out i guess, since it’s a pain to work on it with the swingarm on

    Had a catastrophic failure with these link plates a few years back on my cagiva raptor 1000 2 up. Turned out that it was a factory recall that never got done. Lucky I was travelling at a safe speed the rear completely fell onto the back tire we walked away.

    Hello, very usefull video, thank you! I'm planning to do this on my gen1 Tuono as well. Few questions though. Are you using any regular bearing grease (like the SKF one) to grease it back up? If you want to take out the rollers, is it just a matter of starting by lifting "1" up with a flat small screwdriver to extract it an the others will follow? Do you then put back every roller until the cylinder of the bearing is "packed" again with its rollers? If you really want to replace the bearings as a unit (let's say we want to mount your offered uprated versions), you require to "press" (with hydraulic pressure) them out of the dogbone?

    Nice griff! what is the function of the dog bone? i bought my bike 2 months ago as you know and its 2007 and the previous owner never overlooked on this part. How do I know if its bad?`Cheers mate

    I'm really considering a gen 1 tuono, but there seems to be alot of little details that if missed can be an absolute nightmare! Is there anywhere i can find a summary of everything a gen 1 tuono requires to make bulletproof?

    sir, regarding the arrow on the plate, it is a MUST that the arrow is at the top right? i just checked. mine. mine sits at the bottom :(

    50nm is 37 lb. ft. in real numbers. ;)
    Did I check the swingarm bearings??

      Sorry, that's a 3rd world denomination. What's funny is that when it gets really small you guys use micrometers, nanometers, etc because you have nothing for that. Also the entire imperial system doesn't even exist anymore as a meaurement but is derived from the metric counterpart. So get with the program!!

    Why are they so prone to seizing? Looks the same setup as most bikes ( I realise all bikes required this from time to time, but not every year)

    Good stuff, although the use of Carb Cleaner is a bit extreme. More toxic than Brake cleaner or plain old Degreaser (which would suffice). Says the old dude who has inhaled too many chemicals over the years just being a hobbyist mechanic.

    Surprised you didn't add washers to stop the dog bone shifting over and rubbing metal to metal. Terrible engineering in this linkage.
