Honda guys are so smart that they made the suspension fully adjustable for a reason, if the standard setup works for everyone then having adjusters will not make sense. It's not rocket science and it's something that every rider should know how to do it on its basics.

Setting depends about many things... standard settings can't be good for every rider, preload is adjusting by weight of a rider, oil in shock and forks getting thiner by mileage and compresion and rebaund need to be adjust, so standard setting can't be good after eg. 10000miles, also depend on riding stayle and level of skill..
Standard setting is good refrent point but it's dosen't mean that is the best setting for every rider...
Bike set up is very hard to adjust to be sutiable for every condition, to every rides...

Finally - that's what I always say! No matter how good you think you are at suspension, the guys at Honda are better at it. Every time. Bought a 600F five days ago - which is why I lurk around the CBR600 videos - and the very first thing I did was set everything back to factory on the suspension. Although it didn't really ride badly at all with strange settings when I took it home, so I guess the adjustments are all made within a viable, usable window after all.
And all that preload adjusting for weight - no! Get a spring to fit your weight if it's a bit more than normal ( > ~200 pounds ), then ride the preload in the same 2-out-of-7 standard notch! Don't crank it to 6-out-of-7 on the road unless riding with the absolute maximum weight allowed - which I believe was the full bike + 189kg for the 600F. But even then I'd leave it on 5-out-of-7 as long as nothing bottoms out.

Hi Noorazman, I looked up the settings for your Kawasaki GTR1400 (2007)
For the front fork the standard Rebound Damping Force Adjustment: First turn it fully clockwise (hard).
Then ANTI clockwise to the 5th click..
But with your weight I would start at: the 3th click.
THEN For the front fork spring preload:
The standard is: Standard: 14 mm high.
But with your weight I would start at 9 mm high.
For the rear shock absorber setting:
First turn it fully clockwise (hard).
The standard Rebound Damping Force Adjustment 1 1/4 turns ANTI clockwise position.
But with your weight I would start at: 1 turn ANTI clockwise.
(The rebound adjusting screw in on the lower side of the shock absorber)
Then for the rear shock absorber spring preload:
First turn the knob all the way to the anti clockwise position.(soft)
Then the 12th click clockwise (standard)
But with your weight I would start at: the 25th click clockwise.
Then take your bike for a ride and feel how your Kawasaki rides.
From what you expirience you can make some fine tunings.
Hopefully this helps you ! Please let us know.

Is it applicable to cbr1000rr 2005 model? Same suspension adjusters

      @red-k2048 Před 3 lety +1

yes, but you might wanna go online and check the exact amount of turns, there can be a slight difference.
Just look up, bike model/year stock suspension factory settings :)
The way you do it however is the same. :D

Hi. Thank you for the video. Very informative. Will this also work for 2008 cbr600rr? Also is this road setting appropriate for any rider weight?

Hi, oww yes absolute, but you have to look in your owners manual what for your bike the standard settings are. If your weight is higher then about 80 kg, I would put the spring preload (front & rear) 1 click / turn stiffer. 🏍 👨‍🔧

PLEASE don't do it like this! This can bring you in trouble putting "booknumbers" in an older bike, even don't knowing wheigt, riding ability of the rider and the environment! Even on a New bike this will not work, this are just numbers but for what riding style etc??! Go to a tuner or a person who knows about suspension and riding performance:)

@@MrMedicusNeo Hi thank you for your comment. I absolute don't agree with you and I explain why that is. At first I allways go according what the official Factory Service Manual tells you for the standard settings.
The standard suspension setting are allways THE golden rule to set up the suspension. When the designers 'tells' you about what the standard settings are, they
come to that conclusion after a lot of days on their factory track, and according to the test riders feedback a standard seting for the suspension is set, so to say.
The standard setting is absolute perfect for daily rides (roads). Its a different story when you go with your bike on a circuit, there the asfalt is perfect, with no bumps holes..
Those guys at the (Honda) factory are not stupid you know and when ever they design a new bike there is a lot at stake..
But ofcourse you are free to go to the specialised suspension guru's and leave your money there.
My channel is about doing your own motorcycle maintenance with knowledge that I collegted in the previous (over) 40 years. Greets from the old mechanic

@@TheOldMechanic thanks. Golden settings don't exist in the real World, and I don't say that honda is "stupid". But you are definitly wrong doesnt matter how many years of experience you have. You can "tune" your bike on your own when knowing how to do it the right way. People spend hundrets of Dollars for exhausts and other stuff. So its ok to spend maybe 50-80 dollars setting the bike correct. :) have a nice day (I do suspension settings so I know what I'm talking about).

@@MrMedicusNeo We never agree and thats okay with me. I stopped arguing a long time ago with suspenision setting 'guru's simply because thats the way they earn their money. I allways stick to the Factory Service Manual, and inthere is the
the Standard suspension setting, and the best way to go. Have a nice day, greets from The Old Mechanic.
