    Got to know another use case scenario for tail log backup - I've seen almost all episodes and learnt something new from each !! This is a fabulous web series for SQL DBAs - Appreciate it !!

    Great vid. Worth mentioning that mirroring isn't an option if you're also upgrading the version of SQL Server (unless anyone knows a nice trick around this?). Log Shipping is slightly more problematic too.

      Thanks Kendra. Always happy to be corrected. I was pretty sure we were getting version errors but I'll double check, and review the MS documentation on rolling upgrades. Thanks!!

      I finally tracked down why I thought it wasn't possible to log ship to a later version. As Kendra pointed out, it is possible, however you can't recover the DB in standby mode. This of course means that you can't query it.
