In this episode we have started settling into life on the road, everyday we have learnt something new it’s been a wild ride and we have bee n loving every second.
In this episode we did our laundry at a laundromat even though we have a washing machine in the caravan simply because if you watched our latest video we haven’t been the best with preserving power that we haven’t even had the chance to focus on power yet 😂 and on top of that we don’t have anywhere to dry our clothing yet!
On top of that we has some upgrades done to our caravan, the biggest change being the Constantina door installed to the girls bunk area for some noise block and extra privacy and what a game changer!

Regarding the airtags you can get collars that have a spot for an airtag and you just pop it in like you would with a phone case.

Air tag will only work if your dog is close to another iPhone when he is lost , so in the outback not much chance . And can I also suggest once you get the boat on you get weighed so you know exactly where you stand. Overweight will void your insurance on both car and van when towing.
Ok so, the diesel heater. On start up when you first turn it on, it has to heat up the glow plug. Thats when its drawing the most power, usually around 10amps. Once its been running for a few minutes it backs off and the power isnt being sapped as .

Hey Guys, looks like you have the same fridge in your van as we do ours. If your off grid you can run it on the night setting which uses less power. Overnight we would use 30% of our battery however with the night setting (which we have on all the time if off grid) it would only use 20%. Hope this helps a little. 😁

another good episode just a hint when off grid you should not be using any 240 volt stuff (kettle /toaster ect ) use gas for the kettle until you know your system middle of the day with full sun is the best time to charge phones/lap tops ect .Diesel heaters are great but with that type of controller the only way to turn them down is open a window KEEP AT IT
Make sure you guys have a co2 alarm in the van if running the diesel heater all night while asleep
What for the air it blows at you is only air from the van it doesn’t travel through the combustion chamber of the heater
What does that do?
@@thatfalzonfamily It's not a bad idea as the co2 meter alarm in a confined space like a closed van will also detect a gas leak and give you warning . Vans are notorious for vibrating loose many things and gas is one of them .

AirTags wouldn’t be much use out in the bush. They use Bluetooth from phones to ping off and he wouldn’t be anywhere near phones! Wouldn’t want to lose little Rocco 😁

Wow, we just got our van too and have nearly the exact same setup (also had problem putting the spare tyre underneath). We are looking at getting an inflatable boat instead because the Patrol's have max weight of 100kg including the rack on top ? Are you looking to weigh everything together to see where you're at ?
Buy a kettle that goes on your gas cooktop from bcf and you can boil water whenever you want without using power mate

Just a suggestion- you guys should try getting a portable stove so that you’re not using as much power on your caravan & maybe try using thermist to keep hot water hot for bubs bottles & another one for coffee/tea ☺️ love watching you guys!! Sending love from Cairns 🫶🏽

Good to see what really goes on when caravanning in the beginning. We too have just left home yesterday and had power problems, just teething ones. All sorted now. We too love our diesel heater. How many amps of battery do you have?

Your inverter will use around 5 amps per hour just on standby. Turn it off when your not using it

Noticed that you have Victron stuff which is great "Blue is good" well the best.
To save power off grid run you hot water on gas I’m sure you can as electric hot water is a killer.
Ok for 1260 watts of solar at 70% efficiency would mean on you gauge Cerbo GX monitor you see around 882 watts in full sun.

It also depends. If the panels are flat on roof you won't get that 70%, which all caravans lay them flat. To get top performance it's best they at a angle.

How many batteries are you running
NEVER leave your dog alone in the car. EVER !!! It might not seem hot to you, but one day you’ll come back to an overheated dead dog leaving you devastated.
So cruel to leave a Dog like that a Car can become hot fast . Wait outside the Shop with him or don’t go .
