    Summarized:
    1. Shoulders back, Chest out
    2. not short steps, but still not too long steps
    3. Lean forwards, especially at the start
    4. Move arms from ca. 10 cm before the chin to 10 cm(Pos1) behind the butt(Pos2)
    Pos1: Arm-Angle should be less than 90°
    Pos2: Arm-Angle should be bigger than 90°
    While moving the Arms from chin to butt/from butt to chin the arms should have a ~90°-Angle
    5.Try to cushion the feet on impact and preferably don't hit thé ground with your heel
    6. Look straight ahead
    7. Move one knee forward as fast as possible and pull the other back as fast as possible
    8. Body tension

Some of them almost as fast as Bolt and yet he just glides away and gains meters once he can take full strides and lift his head. His top speed is just insane. He wasn't the best starter and he kind of struggled s bit in the start and was absolutely depending on the best possible start he can manage so that he didn't loose too much but no one else in that field has the capacity to reach the top speed he reaches

    it's called a toe scrape my friend. It limits the distance that the foot travels and helps to maintain a longer ground contact time during acceleration. Thus, more force production in the early stages of the race. It's done intentionally. Chambers and Gatlin, amongst others, have begun to adopt said technique as well.

  • @thinkmajic9708
    @thinkmajic9708 Před 8 lety +11

    0:50 notice how they run almost exclusively on the toes, you have to do this at high speeds because landing the heels is not necessary and can slow you down. If you try it for the first time it's tricky because you don't normally walk or run on your toes alone.

      I tried running and landing on my toes at each stride. And yes, the "springiness" actually makes it a bit easier to pull and push myself for the next stride, and it doesn't feel that I'm punishing my knees as much. I don't actually have the coordination and stamina to actually keep that form for 100m. Sometimes it feels like I overdo it and it feels too springy, and I don't think that it makes me faster, nor is it safe.

    Yes, fast twitch fibers respond to stimuli faster than slow twitch fibers. But the speed of the movement of the legs is not what produces speed in running. Force application to the ground is what produces speed. The explosiveness that you are referring to is power (force x distance) this is very important in the drive phase or the beginning of a sprint. That explosiveness or power is achieved by force that is applied to the ground, which is done at a slower turn-over the first 8-10 steps of the sprint. I agree with what you said about powerlifters, but getting stronger does not require you to get bigger and lifting weights is not necessarily the best way to get stronger.

      Billy, what sort of training would you reckon increases the force of application to the ground?

    • @billyjohnston47
      @billyjohnston47 Před 7 lety +4

      I use plyometrics and bounding drills to develop the strength and tension in the ankle. You can develop more pounds of force versus lifting weights. The correct mechanics and the coordination and timing of the foot striking the ground is very important. The ability to create tension in the ankle is important in developing reactive force.

      @@billyjohnston47 plyometrics just reduce the amount of time it takes to apply force to the ground, lifting heavy is the best possible way to reach a max amount of force into the ground
