The key takeaway from all of this is PD saying "Mystic Story did not come to play." I know they are a subsidiary of SM so they have resources, but Mystic Story have done what EVERY company should do when they debut a new group: don't hold back. On anything. I get disappointed when some companies (looking at you, Woollim) half-ass promotions and just feel like they're going through the motions. Everything about Billlie since debut has been full throttle, all in, 100% commitment to their identity and concept. Even after a divisive debut, the company spoke with their actions "We believe in Billlie." And it's paying off in spades.
Billlie are my Rookies of the Year and an ult group for me now. I would move heaven and earth to see them perform live, and I hope that happens in 2023.
I feel like Happyface did the same thing with Dreamcatcher-just full-on commitment to the group with whatever resources they had.
Once they switched from Minx to Dreamcatcher, absolutely. Happy face had content ready to go (“Lucky Strike” cover) just a couple of weeks after “Chase Me” promotions ended. Set the pace for everything to come.

They committed to Dreamcatcher’s rock concept even though they knew their horror/nightmare concept wouldn’t be an instant hit right away bc of the heavy rock sound being semi iffy to attracting Korean fans. But they stuck with it and happy face believed in Dreamcatcher which paid off when they win their first win with Maison. A rock sound!

If you are overwhelmed by the title track, the bsides of the album are a TREAT honestly this was overall a good comeback with good music and good concept and good talent showcasing

In case it's not clear for PD, the girl with the blonde streaks is Sheon (Kim SuYeon from GP999), while like you said, all bleached blonde is Haruna. This is far and away Haruna's best era - her confidence has EXPLODED.

@@wonderlucky1912 Haruna stood out to me also - partly because her hair made her easy to spot but mainly because she just looked so confident and HAPPY while performing.
Btw when I first heard that Mystic Story would debut a idol group, this is totally what I thought they would debut with.
I remember how surprised I actually was by their choice of debuting them with Ring x Ring, which is so dance focused and edm heavy. But looking back, I like how they expanded Billlie's sound, from edm, to cutesy, to rock. I actually like that progression. Makes me curious about what may come next.
And I feel like, with this comeback you truly feel that they come from a label that focuses on bands. It's in the way they produced this song, you can tell. And that's also what makes this group so intriguing to me. Same as to how other labels have a signature production sound (most kpop fans can tell a YG song from a SM song from a Hybe song ect), I think Mystic has a clear vison too. They have the potential to bring something new to the table, push the boundaries of kpop and I, for one, am super exited about Billlie and their future!!!
Next will be a rap focused EP. They have done dance, vocal, rock and cinematic. I think the next EP will emphasize rapping. If they did a Kpop version of Linkin Park the world would explode. It is time to unleash Moon Sua and Siyoon.

@@TPNsBiggestFan Excellent taste. Dreamcatcher, Billlie and Rollling Quartz are the three groups (well, two groups and a band) who basically get all my money.
I’m just so proud of Haruna (maknae) I feel like she started off really overshadowed by the other members and with each comeback she seems to be shining more and more. And Sheon of course is just amazing to watch perform, her charisma/stage presence are just so captivating.
Last thing I wanna mention is that these girls KNOW how to perform. They know how to draw your eye, how to keep the song or dance entertaining, how to behave/act along with the song, etc. As someone who has gone through years of show choir and musical theater, these girls give me so much hope for future performers and one of my biggest wishes in my life as of a few months ago is to watch them in person.
I started to notice more Haruna during Gingamingayo and she is shining so much in Ring my Bell. Yes I am so happy to see Haruna gain more confidence. And her fancams are getting more recognition! Yes, I agree with you these girls can perform.

It’s like a whole title track of it’s own. Y’all remember GOT7’s “Page”? Red Velvet’s “In & Out”?
That’s what that is. There’s like a kinda latin sound to it? It’s not even describable tbh
@@1CE. The stabby guitar synth and chord sequence definitely has latin influences, but then we start getting the tight hip-hop beat, the sub-bass etc.. Then as the song progresses it slowly starts getting more orchestrated and theatrical (the big, brassy stabs on the two final times they say "Oh who's the joker?" especially give musical vibes idk). It's wild, I swear you can't pin that song to a genre. It's a mixture of so many different styles and sounds that shouldn't work together, but they do.

Great to see that their album sales reflect increasing popularity and have reached that point where sales are at better than a break even point.
I would say so- from The Billage of Perception: Chapter One to now, they’ve increased first-week sales by 700%. This group feels like it’s sitting on a powderkeg and just waiting to explode. They’re all unique, all of them have incredible stage presence, and all of them can sing, dance, rap, and act. They have it all, and best of all and most importantly, they are signed to a company that knows EXACTLY what a gem they have with this group and are 100% committed to their success and development. Billlie has nowhere to go but up, and I’m completely obsessed with them.

B-Sides tracks in this album, really goosebumps me. Billlie sounds has very unique texture
I really can appreciate the unique style that is Billlie. The vocals, choreography, the energy throughout the performance from each member. The entire thing is so fun. They are definitely playing outside of the normal we see in a lot of kpop mvs and music. Everything is new and refreshing and I hope they keep this momentum. Their growth has been crazy since RingxRing.
This concept suits them so well damn I thought nothing could beat talk that talk but this absolutely eclipsed it and twice are my ult group this was soo good

it's exciting to see PD this excited about a group like Billlie who just keeps getting better with every comeback.. I was just as blown away on my first watch and i can't get Billlie out of my mind everyday :) I think it's gonna be interesting to see where they go next with their sound.
With just the 5 releases thus far: Ring x Ring, Snowy Night, Gingamingayo, Patbingsu and now Ring ma Bell (two of which were more special projects-- they have already showcased a wide range of sounds. this not only shows how versatile they are as a group, it makes it so that you'll be on the look out for whatever they do next because they're capable of doing ANYTHING. And while Billlie aren't restrained to one genre i think we can always be sure they'll put a spin on anything they do. That and the members themselves, and their chemistry is what has fully pulled me into them and it's why they are definitely one of my top grps today (and they have been since debut) because they are just that UNIQUE.
I’m absolutely OBSESSED with Billlie right now !! They really go through so many genres in their discography, they pull it all off flawlessly, and all the members are aces.
Oh, and they did perform with a live band for It’s Live !! All live vocals, too. Super impressive Haram & Suhyeon were able to hit all their belting notes & adlibs with the strenuous choreography, but that’s Billlie !!
the blonde is haruna! shes the other Japanese member and shes an 06 liner I think? The other girl you pointed out is Sheon... she placed 10th in GP999 (not sure if you knew this or not so my bad if you already do)! And the main vocalist who did most of the highnotes is Haram.

I'm not even a fan of billlie and I loved this cb. The bsides also don't disappoint. Admittedly one of the best mini albums this year
ring x ring wasn't my favorite debut song, but after seeing these last two comebacks, I think the Billlie are concept queens to rival Red Velvet. They've done three very different concepts and they've executed it to perfection each time. Credit to the girls themselves and their insane A&R and production team, this was such a flawless comeback, not just Ring Ma Bell, but also the whole mini-album.
Absolutely agree: Billlie are the true heirs to Red Velvet. Their b-sides are very RV-esque, but it’s their title tracks that truly show their range and ability to be fun, weird, and serious, sometimes in the same song. I can’t wait to see their second year!

Hearing this from Billlie kind of caught me off guard after GingaMingaYo. This suited my current likes with music specially after I've discovered Dreamcatcher a year ago and it's probably because of my already existing love for the rock/alt rock/pop rock/pop punk genre. Well played to Mystic Story for pulling this off really well, now I can't wait for possible comebacks with a rock sound from Billlie and more so for Dreamcatcher
The ending vibe has to do with Billie lore, which is cool on its own.
There are a couple music show performances with the band: Mnet EP. 768 (220901) and Music Bank 220902. They also performed on "it's Live"

Mystic Story has a vision and they don't care about what people have to say at all, they have a story to tell so they will tell it the way they want to, and even by taking part in a current trend (the punk-pop sound) they still did not make it sound like it's trendy, this is a full punk-pop song with a bit of the kpop flare, they pulled no punches at all and don't plan on ever stopping that train for anyone that wants to talk smack about what they're doing, and I have to praise them for that, it makes Billlie that much more interesting, which is saying something because Billlie's music and concept are already so captivating by themselves that it'd be hard to make me bored but honesty is always a plus.
tbh the top reason I chose to check Billlie out is because they're LUCY's labelmates, I always try to check out new groups regardless of which company they're in but being a huge LUCY fan and loving how commited they and Mystic Story are to their own sound and concepts they were what made me curious about whether Mystic Story would do well with a kpop group and if they'd commit to them like that, and they haven't disappointed me so far. Plus the possibility of a Billlie x LUCY comeback keeps me going lol

This is a pure hard rock sound/ concept. Dreamcatcher is more on the horror side with dramatic ad melodic beats with the concept that each member is representing a different kind of nightmare.
@@brinsssicyrine2865 In Chase Me era sure. That was five years ago. Break the Wall, Endless Night, even May Day and Wake Up are all rock or punk rock. Edit: not to mention Tension, Diamond or Odd Eye. Simple fact is, Dreamcatcher has made rock of all forms from pure rock, metal, symphonic, cyber, and Gothic horror their signature over the last half decade. To think that they wouldn't have some influence on a girl group choosing a rock concept comeback a few months after Dreamcatchers first ever win...I think that is purposefully choosing to ignore facts
I'm an Insomnia too but they were talking about the "trend". Dreamcatcher's rock has been their staple sound. It's different from starting a trend.

i thought gingamingayo was going to be haruna's (the blonde girl) era, and it very much was for me. the playfulness and themes of youth in the song play so well for because she is the youngest in the group, but ring ma bell is even more so! you can just tell she and sheon love this sound and concept, the live performances have been amazing!! they do not hold back one bit at all. haram and suhyeon sound INSANE!! also for their first live performance they did have a band behind the, though I'm pretty sure they weren't actually playing the instruments. i hope they do at least one presentation with a live accompanying band because this song truly does deserves it. all the kudos to billlie and mystic story for not only daring to do this concept but successiding at it!!

I was just as awestruck and amazed at this video and comeback as PD. Billlie deserve much more success as theyre hitting every main point with their progress. Different styles, concepts, video production, musical production, a defined detailed lore, all much more than certain "big" groups who are having a comeback!!!
They had this comeback and concept after a song like "GingaMingaYo", with a fun song inbetween : "Patbingsu" with their Mystic Story CEO Yoon Jong-shin (who released the song 12 years ago!!)
