Do you think a new Cuda would mean the revival of Plymouth or will this Cuda be a Dodge?

I think it’s a possibility, all they gotta do is a refresh and rename the last gen challenger and call it a Barracuda just an upgraded face and back with the interior design being refreshed as well. It could be the cheapest way for them to do something. But if they going full revamp and to do R&D then it’s a slim chance Atleast that’s what I think they’d do!

The V-8 is obviously the heart of the muscle car but as a kid who hung around dragstrips and garages in the 60's and 70's I saw guys getting some crazy power out of the cheap and plentiful inline sixes that were the base motor of almost every car and truck model. My first car was an anemic 65 Mustang with a 200ci 6 and 3- speed manual but I paid $175 for a 300 inline 6 that was in a wrecked Ford truck because someone had added split headers and a 4-barrel carb. I later discovered it had a performance camshaft and had been ported and polished. I don't know what the horsepower was but the torque was insane and I could outrun 289's all day. My only complaint? It was bulky and weighed over 500 lbs.

  • @redhunnid5142
    @redhunnid5142 Před 26 dny +3

It would definitely sell it just needs to be significantly smaller and cost less than the Dodge Challenger. That’s basically what the Cuda was a smaller version with slightly different design changes. It would be directly competing with Mustang and Camaro in weight. It would be Dodge’s true pony car instead of a pure muscle car like the Dodge Challenger.

Back in the day we had options, not so much anymore. I'd like to see the Plymouth Barracuda come back. With BOTH V6 and V8 options, let the consumer decide. And also a choice of coupe or convertible. Giving consumers choices is a good thing, telling consumers it's an EV or nothing is just plain stupid.

Plymouth Cuda and Roadrunner were cars I loved back in the seventies. They were some of the hotess and most attractive cars Chrysler ever built and I hated it when the brand was discontinued, but sadly it is my opinion you can't recreate perfection. They can make them look the same, with more horse power, better handling, and better ride but they just won't ever be the same or have the spirit of those beautiful Cudas of the seventies.

Continuing from my previous post when it came to Next gen Cars each of the cars had 3 powertrains The Inline 6 twin hybrid engines, The EV powertrain, and the Hemi Hybrid engine that was powered by synthetic oil. The next gen Charger had looks more of a more of modern car while keeping some retro styling cues, a A cuda was there but this had a convertible top and the Dodge Challenger was there but it was more of a hard top version of the cuda and it was more modern looking in the front and body kinda resembles the both 3rd gen and 1st gen Challengers but more sleek. Ralph Gilles did confirmed back in 2019 and the years of 2020 and 2021 that a next gen Challenger was in the works alongside the Charger, but they went silent until some executives stated that the Challenger has been retired for the foreseeable future, but they are keeping the name again until they can use it again.

The annoying thing is especially these days research into engine sounds was rediscovered on large scale (aka i mean it was better understood pre-emission era, but took a nosedive and then recently came back, it can be done), so there is no reason for it to sound mediocre when it doesn't have to, yet from what i have heard it might as well be a turbo minivan engine and i don't mean the oddball V6 Minivans engines that sound like F1 cars, if not muscle, with simple set of good pipes ala headers and y-pipe (a Yamaha thing)

Hornet came from the AMC variant that was bought out and has not been a great name sake bring back. So to have a Plymouth or even a Dodge that bares the name of Barracuda or 'Cuda it would have to have something really good to sell. There are many gun shy consumers out there and see what has happened in the past few years with the Stellantis variants of any CDJR vehicle. I personally would only want to see these names used if it were a high HP and or high performance version to not kill the heritage that has been with the name as of to date. I could see them revamping the challenger body with some ques and then making it as the E body version were (70-74), but unless performance is involved and some reliability, I don't see this selling any better than the Hornet or the so called problem prong new Charger that can't make it to the dealers to sell yet.

Should Plymouth be brought back to life... yes but, if only as a strictly muscle car division and nothing else... then that could work. Then, they could revive the GTX, road runner, and Duster... with all new body styles with a touch of retro added.
An inline 6... no, not for a cuda'... or anything else tagged as a muscle car.
Should Dodge make one... if Chrysler & Fiat gives its blessing... and only if the boys at Dodge come up with an all-new design that shares some old school characteristics.
Taking the Challenger and turning it into a cuda' would not be very original at this point.
As for an engine, they should build a new one from the ground up and make it so that it performs... with say around 600 hp.
Since Ford took a car name and made it into a truck/car/SUV, the trend has been set and reviving old badges is working.
Mustang is still selling, and it came out in 1964, so for 60 years now Ford has kept their muscle car going.
Chevy has Camaro but is ending them.
Dodge has challenger and is ending them, but they're keeping charger going, albeit in EV format.
There needs to be something new and Plymouth as Chryslers Muscle car division would be ideal... and FIAT may be able to make something happen.
Hopefully it won't be like the Dart because that car is major disappointment imo .

If this is reality, give it to Chrysler! I would buy this car in a heartbeat considering the power the new Hurrican 3.0L in-line six puts out. My boss has a new Grand Wagoneer with the Bi-turbo Hurricane, and we have two new RAMs used in our Fields with the same engine. I have a 5.7L Hemit in my 2023 Grand Cherokee Summit and the Hurricane walks away from my GC. It will cost too much to revive the Plymouth Brand, and we can thank the Nazis at Daimler (Mercedes) for the demise of that storied brand.

I don’t want them to ruin the Cuda name with a six cylinder engine. The Cuda is a muscle car, beautiful, fast and gets people’s attention. But it needs a V8, not a six banger. With the Cuda nameplate it should be as fast or faster than the Mustang. All this is true for the Daytona also. They are ruining the Daytona nameplate by calling it a muscle car and making it electric. We are getting a new truck in the next year or two and won’t even look at Dodge because they killed the V8. And finally, the Cuda should be called a Plymouth, not a Dodge.

Looks like Fan Art like you said looks to much like a Challenger, but it wouldn't surprise me if the design might be close since most brands have lost all Creativity and don't give two Shits anymore.

I would give the V6 version a try if the MSRP was reasonable.

Can't believe Stallantis is still in business, with horrible quality control and crooked dealerships there only selling cars to idiots, evidently there are a few out there. 😅

Charger with challenger head lights? To be honest, they should have made this the new gen charger and the “cuda” should have the new EV charger body… 🤷‍♂️

The Cuda was built about 4 years ago Tim similar unveiled it a while back but the Challenger was selling so well they didn’t bring it out the one he showed it and it looked more like the challenger but smaller Jeep is going to get rid of itself with horrible quality people don’t forget 20 years to make a name for yourself 2 months to tear it down

With all the problems Stellantis is having, buying anything they make is a complete risk. Blown engines, cracked windshields and software problems putting people's lives in jeapordy.
