incidentally this scene is what makes that scene even more powerful, because as much as they hated each other as colleagues, they still looked out for each other when it was in the middle of the danger.

We saw it Mother's Day that year. We'd gone to have an early dinner then made it to the theater in time to avoid the worst of the line that formed behind us. Even as I'm watching Twister (1996) twenty-six years later I am remembering what it felt like to see it for the first time. Twister really lived up to its pre-opening hype.
Same, been watching for almost 30 years now. Crazy.

This movie is so good, but surprisingly, for me, not because the Tornados(which look cheesy now) but because the dialogue and interaction between the characters. That is what makes this movie great.
Back in the day, critics savaged Twister for its supposed reliance on SFX over characters. I personally think the tornadoes still look good (especially the nighttime Shining drive-in one), but I never agreed with the critics about the acting and the characters. Everyone was memorable.
That’s what happens when you get the guy behind ER as part of the writing team. ❤

DOT3 is such an awkward design. It's tall, narrow, and it's canister is so small. It looks like I could give it a nudge and the whole thing would topple over. It also opens in such a stupid and slow way. I guess I could kind of give Jonas props for his sensors, which have a greater surface area than those found in Dorothy. However I also feel they would have a greater chance of just spinning themselves out of a twister.
In comparison, Dorothy has a wide stance, its good and sturdy, and its canister is nice and big.
I'm DEFINITELY gonna have to watch this film again soon. Forgot how underrated it is.
Underrated....it was the biggest thing on release along with ID4 it's one of the most remembered movies of the 90s

Its never implied but based on the dialog throughout the movie it seems Jonas was either part of Jo and Bills group before or collaborated with them at some point. He probably stole their idea of Dorothy taking full credit for it while creating his own storm chaser group.
