She's conflicted, and even though Walt is objectively terrible, she's not ready to completely abandon the father of her children.
It actually perturbs me to see Gus forced break his precise demeanor while doing business just to lure Walt in. He should never have to debase himself like that. Just go with Gayle and be done with it dude!

I love that you guys picked up on the Marie purple thing. The shows creators confirmed in the commentary that each of the characters have their own signature colour (yes, Marie's is purple!). Also other characters start to wear the signature colours of others as they get pulled into their worlds. Yet another thing to look out for!

It wasn’t charity, it was getting what he worked for and deserved, but even if it was charity how is running a drug ring better? It’s just a mentality pushed by people who got rich off the backs of others now convincing their victims not to want what they’re due, and I can’t believe how successful it was.

12:40 There are meth superlabs, but they are usually located in Mexico. Law enforcement is way more corrupt and less capeable over there, making it much easier to hide such a large operation, which in return makes it much more viable financially. Building such a lab would involve so many different people who all need to stay quiet, which is why it can only really work in an area where more or less everyone can be kept in line through money or the threat of violence, something that is easier in Mexico than it is in the US. Plus, the US government has made it much harder to obtain the necessary chemicals over the years, thus making it harder to produce meth within the US, which in turn shifted more and more of the market towards Mexican cartels, who are not affected by those regulations. Ironically, this made the meth more potent and cheaper, worsening the drug problem.
The look on Walter's face when he sees Gus's meth lab for the first time is priceless. Imagine being accustomed to cooking in a confined RV and taking in that huge lab.

I really can't understand how you can think Jesse is any better than Walt. I'm not excusing Walts actions, but Jesse was an addict and still is. Walt has literally saved Jesses' life a few times. If you arrived to the show late, you missed years of history of viewer discussion. When it aired, everyone rooted for walt. In the years that followed, people reflected and realized that cheering for a family man turned drug manufacturing murderer is a little misguided. But instead of tempering their attitudes, the entire internet hivemind swung the pendulum in the opposite direction. Walt became the most evil character on the show, Skyler was a saint who could do no wrong, mike was just a grandpa trying to do right by his family, etc. The internet hivemind struggles with nuance.

It wasn’t charity, it was getting what he worked for and deserved, but even if it was charity how is running a drug ring better? Building such a lab would involve so many different people who all need to stay quiet, which is why it can only really work in an area where more or less everyone can be kept in line through money or the threat of violence, something that is easier in Mexico than it is in the US. Plus, the US government has made it much harder to obtain the necessary chemicals over the years, thus making it harder to produce meth within the US, which in turn shifted more and more of the market towards Mexican cartels, who are not affected by those regulations. Ironically, this made the meth more potent and cheaper, worsening the drug problem.

I really can't understand how you can think Jesse is any better than Walt. I'm not excusing Walts actions, but Jesse was an addict and still is. Walt has literally saved Jesses' life a few times. I think Walt started out trying to make sure his family was taken care of after he died. Neither Walt nor Jesse are good guys, in fact Walt's son is the only person in this series that was decent. I am really interested in how you will feel about Walt at the end . You may not like him ,(but hate him) ? It's going to be interesting.

In the years that followed, people reflected and realized that cheering for a family man turned drug manufacturing murderer is a little misguided. But instead of tempering their attitudes, the entire internet hivemind swung the pendulum in the opposite direction. Walt became the most evil character on the show, Skyler was a saint who could do no wrong, mike was just a grandpa trying to do right by his family, etc.
