This episode makes me admire human beings. Despite this woman lives on the brim of starvation, she still cares about their disabled child with such devotion. This is truly amazing, perhaps what made us the most abundant species on Earth.
All this slums and misery and inequality is coming only from human beings and the fact that we are self-concerned. People who haven't lived in poverty doesn't understand the true meaning of poverty and to live in a country where it's so corrupt that even politicians will make up stories up so they can win the election but never deliver what they say. There are so many years of neglect and still they don't help them out and no matter how many times you try to save people from the slums you cannot save them all because there are so many of them. And for those who don't recognize the culture in the Philippines. Depending if they do a family planning many kids you raise through poverty or in general families, it's actually quite common to raise more than 7 kids because if you have so many children then they can support the parents in the long run. If only one child finishes school and finds a job always through medicine and law then that child is burden to carry everything on their shoulders to support her parents and siblings, which is kind of sad but true.
Regarding support, there will also be times, the family can and will stop supporting family abroad from another country. I know of family members who moved to North America and the non-Asian partners are not always pleased about sending hard earned money back to the Philippines. Filipino people can be kind and caring, but overall, Filipino are not the smartest Asian people academically. They cause their own burdens. Adding to this, we already have North American jobs being sent to the Philippines, so we don't need to send any more money sent back to Asia. Some people who send money back home also find out the money is being abused, will stop sending money, if they have a consciousness of what is best for the family. I don't believe in helping people who don't care to help themselves. This includes people keeping their legs crossed and taking care of themselves! Filipino people are looking for a easy way out by marrying a white man. Only the white man who can't find a good woman in North America due to their own deep personal issues ,think of Filipino woman and think they are submissive, are the ones to take prey to this ''Filipino ideology".

To read some of the comments here sickens me. How human beings can have so much disrespect for others is truly amazing. I live here in Manila and see poverty first hand every day, yet I see happier people here with more manners and care for others than I ever did in England where I lived for 40 years. Maybe it is me, but having watched all 6 episodes, the only thing that made me smile was seeing Jello smile, then finding out he dies sadden me more than anything. Poverty is a way of life, not just here, but all around the world, and for people to preach from behind a computer which cost more than most of these people could ever hope to have in their hand, makes me think that it is people in the most privilaged places that need to be culled first and these poor people to be uplifted. The world would be a nicer place.
@Olivia Samuels Both are problems! in corruption these people in power tend to be abusive & overpopulation leads to scarcity of jobs, and you can't even move without bumping to another person, & CO2 going up no more breathable air.
All the stories in the documentary series are eye-opening and at times heart breaking but I would say Babes is my favourite person on the documentary series thus far, very likeable. I wish her, Judy and their family well.
It's sad watching these films. I am from Singapore, just a few hours away from them and yet our lives are totally opposite. My one day meal probably cost as much as their half a month worth...
Yes, two different worlds apart. You are lucky. Save some good money for emergencies. You never know what is round the corner as the saying goes like the virus.
Jello’s mum deserves a medal! Poor woman, I feel so bad and wish that I could help her in some way. The love she had for her disabled boy. Can’t imagine what she must be going through after losing her child. She looked forward to seeing Jello after a hard days work, it was the only thing keeping her going. RIP Jello 💚
After viewing this video..I don't have the right to complain...these families love fiercely and dream as much! Each time one gets a break, my heart swells ..I want to help..praying is not enough! Bless them all..moi, Canada 🇨🇦
It really touched my heart to see a mother's love for her children. No matter how much hardship she is going through yet she doesn't complain about her situation. In today's time, I doubt there even exists some love between near and dear ones. May God give her all the strength to survive in this tough world.
+Anne Kohler I think there are only 2 ways. Either you go visit them (which I don't really recommend since you don't know what you are getting into) or you find someone TRUSTWORTHY to go visit them (someone who knows manila and the filipino way of life)
This is heart breaking. Hope we learn to plan our families. It is a never ending cycle of sufferings generations to generations. Hoping the situation will change.
That woman with her disabled son is an angel and a devoted mother to him,she is so strong in heart and spirit, god bless them both if there is a god....
it amazes me how poor struggling people never stop giving birth i mean whats the point if u really struggling with the 1 child u already have i just dont get it
Philippine Media has been a great influence to this kind of culture. At night, when everyone is resting from work, people tend to watched their tv with LOVE themed soap operas.
my girlfriend lives in manila near one of the canal like rivers in the pandacan area, it is weird seeing how they live..?? i stay with her and daughter on the street she lives on..!! you do feel sorry for the people on her street and how they live.. we are so luck her in the UK..!!
Bushmen never live in poverty. Tribal people who were left alone don't live in poverty, they live in a huge jungle, bathe in a big lake and spend their days cutting leaves and hunting animals. They have time to decorate themselves, to sleep, to laugh, and enough food to eat. They don't have dirt around them, they have nature. If you see poor people living in squalid conditions is because they've lost their original lands (taken by multinational companies, or exploited by their own government). I was talking once with an old man and he said that in earlier times, people had a sense of belonging to the nature around them. He was right, earlier, the forest next to you belonged to your village, you had full rights to it as well as all other villagers. Nobody was allowed to camp there or to take it. Today, we might live next to a forest, but it isn't ours, and if our government wishes so they could sell it to a furniture company.
Contrary to popular belief, africa isn't overpopulated like asia or even europe, except europe is rich and can feed themself.. RD Congo is as big as germany, uk, spain, france put altogether and have only a fraction of the population, while filipines is seven times smaller in surface than congo and have the same population, also take away modern medicine from the bushmen and other amenities and their population will stagnate forever (they had the smallest population of all continents in 1910, before getting colonized and brought in the 20th century, the whole africa had 100m people living in it while germany had like 60m)
there are people that still know and live in nature. especially in canada..it's the basis for a culture that has thrived there for over 15,000 years before the white man showed up with his gods greed and hatred...."bury me while i stand as i've been forced to live on my knees" is what we learned..we were strong enough to keep our culture languages gods cerimonies rights.. we are sovereign people on sovereign land that still live off the land..we know our place in nature and that it ALLOWS us to exist..she provides for us and must be loved protected and treated with respect..
They are the most friendliest and hard working people I have ever met, even if they live in poverty. Hope your government can change the way they live.

Wow, feel better?
This absolutely unacceptable ! The population is really increasing in a high amount uncontrolled level.
I wish her, Judy and their family well.
catholic church not allowing birth control, then they better feed those poor hungry children!
It's Catholic what do you expect 😔 i hate some of the Catholic people
god.. please forgive me if i ever complain about my life.. 😢
Yeah..stop complaint..just accept it
Yes DONT DO IT AGAIN Lmao
The whole documentry has been amazing, thanks Al Jazeera
For a filipino who migrated to a first world country this documentary is beyond heartbreaking😢
no wonder you "migrated" 😏
the end result of having 10-12 children per woman. overpopulation in a nutshell.
the average woman in the Philippines has 3 children. 10-12 is a HUGE family and that's out of the ordinary here.
Over five decades ago, it was the other way around. This is what happens when the government is corrupt and the mindset of the people are poor.
Feel so sad for this family. The mother is so loving. Respect.
Painful stories to those families with hard struggle work and love their love ones. God blesses to them. 👃👃👃
I'm so sad that jello past awayTT . .
These poor people have so many children. Where is the birth control, the government of the Philippines ??
It is because the Catholic Church have a huge influence on the daily lives of the poor. Yet they don't feed, clothed and shelter the less fortunate.
The slum is only there because of CORRUPTION! The Philippines could be a good place for all people to be.
I feel so irritated as so dam so low salary . You work hard for over eight hours and you still not making enough.
This is really sad!!,thank u for sharing this and I hope ALJAZEERA helped them since they filmed them for free.
This shows that we have to be thankfull our life no matter how hard it is
Wow. You even have to buy your own blood for a C section. Any guarantee that blood will be healthy?
My heart broke when it said Jello died😭😭😭❤Jellos mother really needs a good medal😭❤
'Nothing is impossible for God,' they have so little but their Faith is so strong, truly inspiring!
It really touched my heart to see a mother's love for her children. No matter how much hardship she is going through yet she doesn't complain about her situation. In today's time, I doubt there even exists some love between near and dear ones. May God give her all the strength to survive in this tough world.
Do you know how can we contact these people? I would like to help but I can't fly there.
How can I help Dante and the man who own the tyre business...??
+Anne Kohler I think there are only 2 ways. Either you go visit them (which I don't really recommend since you don't know what you are getting into) or you find someone TRUSTWORTHY to go visit them (someone who knows manila and the filipino way of life)
This is heart breaking. Hope we learn to plan our families. It is a never ending cycle of sufferings generations to generations. Hoping the situation will change.
That woman with her disabled son is an angel and a devoted mother to him,she is so strong in heart and spirit, god bless them both if there is a god....
If i win the euro millions lotto jackpot I'm coming to manila too change alot of families lives 🙏🏼
Damn it seems that that babes person is friends with everyone
bc she's a total babe
+Jovel Green 😂😂
She helped campaign, volunteered to assist in the voting, was willing to give blood, seems like a friendly lady.
She knows everything also. 😃 . Waiting for Babes in Episode 6. Lol
Nice to see smiles amidst all of this.
I hope these poor people got something for sharing their lives with us.
she is a one great mother..
I feel so sad. I'm half Filipino because my dad's American. I really want to help them! 😥
be glad u are out of there...call urself american and pretend to be hawaiian.
+hijazzains haha :))
Help then
yahataru so she should be embarrassed she’s Filipino? She can help them and achieve something far greater than pretending to be someone else. Grow up.
Hardworking people. Wish them the best.
Amazing documentary. Heart touching💐
Number one priority. You can't have kids.
Number two priority. Build Infrastrucutre.
Rory Hanlon Good idea !
Number one priority: Get rid of religion. Roman Catholicism tells these people condoms and other contraceptives are wrong.
Panzerkampwagen That's why I left the Country three decades ago. I don't see and notice any progress. It's very frightening to live over there.
Panzerkampwagen The more the population will increase. The more sufferers will multiply.
it amazes me how poor struggling people never stop giving birth i mean whats the point if u really struggling with the 1 child u already have
i just dont get it
Philippine Media has been a great influence to this kind of culture. At night, when everyone is resting from work, people tend to watched their tv with LOVE themed soap operas.
I like this kind of documentaries. 👍
After I see this..
I Learn more for love and life is so much simple, went you lay low..
Is all about giving.. That's life
WHAT STRONG WOMANS! 💜
Priest has a weird accent. He is not Filipino.
Cherryl Delan
The first priest who went under the bridge was Spanish or Portuguese.
This quarantine brings me to this kind of documentaries and it made me realize how blessed i am with my parents.
Filipinos are one of the most happy, resilient and resourceful people I know..also, kudos to the translator/s-very well translated
It really amazes me, with their cramped living condition...they can still made so many babies !
my girlfriend lives in manila near one of the canal like rivers in the pandacan area, it is weird seeing how they live..?? i stay with her and daughter on the street she lives on..!! you do feel sorry for the people on her street and how they live.. we are so luck her in the UK..!!
“Go forth and multiply” your problems. Lolll. The Philippines will never change.
Jello is a little angel. I just feel that right now he is in heaven playing football. Such a sweet boy.
The pastor looks so fake..😩
wow.. you don't even know the guy personally..who are we to judge sister?
Watch the previous episode, the Pastor's true colours are revealed. F***ing hypocrite
all pastors are fake , its based on a fairytale their job :D
He's just a person who want to create a business without paying taxes
I like those poor humble people rather than rich people that are full of hypocrisy.
Sometimes I feel life is hard, but this is real struggle. Am counting my blessings from now on.
My heart go out to You Mama!
This is a problem world wide, 1st or 3rd world.
Companies and banks run this world now.
I wish I could donate some money to them
This is so depressing. I feel so sad for these people, Jellos' mom is truly an angel.
They are the most friendliest and hard working people I have ever met, even if they live in poverty. Hope your government can change the way they live.
