- The Philippines are a chain of around 7,000 tropical islands in the western Pacific.
Unique wildlife has flourished on these ancient islands; they are a breeding ground for many rare, beautiful and bizarre animals.
Giant bugs patrol the dense forests of Palawan Island, home to the mysterious Bearcat, an animal which looks like a cross between a bear and a cat but is related to neither and seems as agile in the trees as a monkey.
Plants turned predator line the edge of the forests, while rivers help carve one of the world’s most spectacular cave systems, a subterranean world crowded with bats and mysterious insects. Palawan’s prehistoric coastline is the hunting ground of marauding giant lizards which will eat anything they can catch.
On the island of Bohol, swamp-like mangroves are raided by gangs of macaques with a taste for the unusual, crabs. Youngsters hunting crab for the first time learn the hard way that some food bites back. Bohol’s ethereal ‘chocolate hills’ rise above forests where the lucky butterfly’s taste for poison help it escape a spiders clutches, and huge swarms of fireflies light up the dark with dramatic lightshows.
And as darkness descends, the Tarsier, one the Philippines most enigmatic creatures, comes out to hunt. An animal so small it would sit in the palm of a human hand has the largest eyes relative to body size in the animal kingdom... and the appetite to match.

take note of temperature. if you live in a cold country, then you'll be shocked how humid Philippines is. do research like transportation, food types and tastes, common tourist location and tourist traps. specially the price list of common things so you won't be cheated. I'm not saying Philippines is bad. but there are bad people anywhere all over the globe who'll take advantage of innocent tourist.

So many of my beautiful, interesting animals live there…I wish I’d been able to visit before I became to sick to do so…the scorpion is amazing! Been fascinated by carnivorous plants since I was a kid, though I do feel bad for the insects. I never cease to be amazed by the diversity of life. If only we humans would learn to value beauty over profit and greed.

This film also shows that human and animals are co- dependents on mother nature. Without our ecosystem we are nothing. Also, how mesmerizing it is if we look and observe keenly and closely how each living creatures thrive, we could have a better understanding on ourselves and those that surrounds us.

Amazing footage. I wonder how far the cameraman was when filming that tarsier while on a feeding frenzy without disturbing it since they're known to be very sensitive to noise and human presence.

That is a mystery in itself because nobody seems to know (kunwari) who actually are doing the pangangalbo 😅. But this mystery is nothing compared to the animals who transform themselves into humans and actually hold offices in the government 😂 amazing species!

You forgot to mention that the Palawan Subterranean River is one of the New Seven Wonders of The World and a UNESCO World Heritage site. And also one of the residents of Palawan seas, the "dugong" or manatee, and of course one of the biggest eagle in the world, our national bird the Philippine Eagle.

When I was on my way home one night it's pitch-black there ain't no moon that night there is a Dakit tree with full of fireflies up top of the tree I'm so amazed cuz the leaves are glowing and they say once the tree is full with fireflies it means the Encanto had a celebration!!! It's a good story tho but that ain't scared me at all... I'm so lucky that I witnessed the phenomenal event that night... I wish I had the camera but that was early 2000s and also I can't afford one...😂😂😂

The Philippine government has tried many times to change the name of the Philippines to Maharlika (a Malay word which means serenity and peace or royalty) but until now it is still being debated.
Definatly late to it but my favorite example of island gigantic is the Kodiak bear. On the same island as it are more subspecies native only to the island. All 6 of the native mammals are subspecies of the mainland populations to my knowledge.
