When i hear his name, i clearly think of Arsenal. It always shocks me to hear how much time he spend at Chelsea.
He was the best left back at his time , but like you said his name isn't brought up very much.

I think it is because the world has witness the likes of Roberto Carlos, Marcelo, maldini, chiellini etc. Which is sad because Ashley Cole was just as good as them.

@@istudios7637 we had a small bit of success prior to Roman coming in, but there were people that made Chelsea attractive for him. Gullit, Zola, Di Matteo, Vialli, Dennis Wise, Hasselbank, Desailly all these players had an impact at the club making a name for Chelsea and getting us top finishes in the table.

@@NkemUtomi why? one of the quotes of his reasoning for leaving was because ehe said there were "too many foreigners in the club". He was and always will be a sell out ,trying to appease to racists or xenophobes. At that time English players for the most part were pretty poor in comparison to foreign players. They didn't have the technique and probably laughed at Wenger's stance on better diet and other revolutionary ideas that are now commonplace in English football. I dislike Ashley Cole with passion, but i respect his ability as a player.

Carlos didn't score any important goals - he just scored that freekick which you remember in a friendly. In fact Carlos only scored 1 goal at a World Cup - in a 4-0 win against China. Hardly important. Basically your comment was pretty silly.
