How good was Andriy Shevchenko actually? #GOAT
New episode of a documentary series where I plan to present all the greatest players of all time and then give them a score so a ranking of the best players can be created. In this episode we take on Andriy Shevchenko who played for Ac Milan and Dinamo Kiev as well as Chelsea for most of his career, not only one of the greatest forwards of all time but one of the greatest players of all time. See how Andriy Shevchenko ranks and just how good he actually was. - Sport
One of the best strikers ever
Since I watched Sheva a lot during Milan and then Chelsea, I can tell you what happened to him.
1. At Milan, he was go-to man. In the last years he was everything - finisher and creator. There was practically no goal without his participation. He either scored, assisted , or started the goal-scoring attack.
2. At Chelsea, he was playing his game as in a team that Milan was playing. But the other players at Chelsea were more individual. They passed balls too late, holding the ball too long. At Milan ball was delivered to him quickly. Look at the video. Players just kicked ball to him, his job was to score or distribute. At Chelsea players often disregarded him even while he was in great position and passed to other players.
3. He definitely wasn't on the same frequency with other players at Chelsea and that took mental tall on him. He started to miss where he would finish with aplomb previously, because he was one of the best finishers ever with both legs and head.
In the end his record at Chelsea is not too bad. Many goals he scored were beautiful. But he did not played many games there.
As a Milan and Chelsea fan I watched both and totally agree with you especially point 2 the pass was always late or passed wider. Do t forget that at Chelsea it was post an injury from which he never fully got over but he still scored 1 in 3. Also not sure Maurinho wanted him and that also played its pat
@@youtubeyoutube936 _"Former European Player of the Year Shevchenko largely blames injuries and the pace of English football for his failure at Chelsea to live up to his reputation.
But Shevchenko also claimed that Mourinho - now boss at Inter Milan - rarely spoke to him during their difficult working relationship."_
www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/andriy-shevchenko-jose-mourinho-blame-3371000
Sheva also had injuries which affected the later part of his career. These effected his speed and physicality
True even in case of Torres, Chelsea midfielders are notorious for holding the ball too long, making small passes, passing back to defenders instead of passing through ball. Was a fan of Chelsea but slowly lose interest in the club due to their playing style.
Your second point is pure fantasy! There was nothing individualistic about that Jise Mourinho first Chelsea team. It was Mourinho himself that didn't fancy him. Mourinho just didn't want in at Chelsea simple. He was an Abramovich buy the manager never wanted. He didn't give him the chance to succeed.
Even as a Juve fan i always had great respect and admiration for AC Milan during that era with Shevchenko. One of the greatest for sure
He was the best striker in the world when he was in his prime could score any type of goal
Henry was better than him, they were both at their best at the same time
Henry played in England. Not fit to clean his boots
@@ricoriley1321 One thing Henry was not good about - clutch time. Sheva - opposite. Look that year when Henry lost Golden Ball to Sheva
Lol he come to England at 29 and was exposed badly he was awful. Italy has had a shit league since the late nineties. Scottish level
@@scousementalitycrumblewhen3188 wtf
As a Milan fan I really love him, he was one of my heroes from my childhood together with Kakà and Maldini. Ahh those were good times
Maldini in my eyes is the greatest defender of all time, will never be a more complete defender
@@ryancoackley3660 What about Gaetano Scirea
@@theodorekell Baresi, Beckenbauer, Scirea, Maldini and maybe Passarella / Nesta / Gentile / Facchetti for the absolute A-league of defenders in the history of football? 🤔
@@bcbitchkkv what about Zanetti, Cafu, Blanc Puyol, Koeman???
Interesting stat - when Maldini played with Baresi, they played 196 games and allowed 23 goals
I favored Milan as well those days, but knew they would soon collapse since the club had too many old players and would have to rebuild completely
The fact he didn't perform on same level when he played in PL for Chelsea, doesn't mean he fell. Hat trick facing Barca in UCL at 21 yo. He took Dynamo close to UCL final, quite single handedly. His first season in serie A (the most demanding league) has been historical. Hat trick against Nesta at first duel. Hat trick against Nesta. He was unstoppable and a total package player, playing as center forward, second striker, winger and sometimes acting even as a sort of creator. No reference points for opponents. The way this guy scored, total arsenal. Cristiano can't score many goals Sheva scored. Was second only to peak Ronaldo Nazario Da Lima and his peak was from 1997 to 2006. His first season at Chelsea wasn't so bad, unfortunately didn't fit the system and Mourinho didn't valorize him. Then a serious of injuries occured, probably lost confidence and a normal slowdown for anyone over 30s occured. Multiple factors played a role. He's a legend and the greatest player I've ever seen in ACM jersey (considering Ronaldo came in a pretty good version of himself, given all the circumstances, but surely diminished)
He didn't take Kiev single handedly, Dynamo back then were a cracking team, their midfield could compete passing wise with anyone. I think with teams in the East block, they have talent, in many teams over the years, but they don't have it mentally.
You lost me at a better Goalscorer than Cristiano Ronaldo. Mention one footballer that has scored more goals than Ronaldo? In both club and Country, who is a better Goalscorer than Cristiano?
It's like Henry at juventus or Maradona at barca some players don't fit into certain teams
@@okimo4431 messi has more goals for club and will surpass him 💀🤣😭😭🤣🤣
Dynamo back then was a strong force. Lobanovskiy one of the greatest football coaches. Duo of Shevchenko and Rebrov was amazing
He was the best forward in the world for a while at one point. Undisputed. The injury prior to the Chelsea was the beginning of the end.
Great player .. often does not get the credit he deserves ... From 2000- 05 Shevchenko was absolute beast ... Anyways, great video as always ... keep it up
I remember buying 2006 Ukrainian World Cup games on dvds as a kid to watch him play an try to imagine what it would be like to try and defend against him
The complete striker : Need a header ? No problem .. what about a run through the defense ? Nobody could catch Sheva once he's off .. Want a missile from the edge of the box ? You got it no worries !
What a striker. What a legend of Ac Milan. Unforgettable year's and goals with Milan.
Thank you for doing a video of my favorite player of all time
I personally scrolled threw your vids for this one, Shevvy was my all time favourite 🙏
The most underrated striker EVER! Sheva was pure 🔥 The “problem” in Chelsea was Mourinho! He put Sheva in wrong positions and he didn’t wanna Sheva there! Football is about play the game, and how much the player play less, less confidence! Brilliant in AC Milan. Good in Chelsea(77 games, 22 goals, 11 assists in 2 years). Idol in Dynamo Kyiv and Ukraine. Sheva The Best! King Forever! 👑🐐🇺🇦
Thanks for the video. I regard him as one of the best strikers that ever lived. It's a pity about his record in england.
So much of history and details. Good video
Amazing video, keep up the good work and all the best for your exams
Love the videos mate
Made me fall in love with football!
A big game player... we love to see it 🙌
Back to his big game performance. EURO 2000 qualifiers. Group 4 - France, Russia, Ukraine....
Russia loses first 3 games, then wins next 6. Now, in the last game vs Ukraine, it is 88th minute. Russia is leading 1-0....
Situation - if Russia wins, they go 1st, France goes to play off. If Ukraine draws, France 1st, Ukraine goes to playoffs.
88th minute, Free kick from 35 yards on the left. Shevchenko takes the ball, kicks his typical "far corner through the crowd" kick, Filimonov makes mistake, 1-1. Ukraine loses play-offs and never goes to Euro. France wins it! Shevchenko makes France champion of Europe.
This is clutch for you.
I only seen Shevchenko in champions league back in the day but he was the bests striker in the world for about 4 years. He was a great player
Great video x
Great video 🙌...plz do Marco Reus or Wesley Sneijder
I get excited when I see your videos
Legendary player, what a striker Ševa was, diamond 👏👏👏⚽🇷🇸7️⃣
As an Interisti, he is a nightmare to face everytime Inter is facing Milan (along with Kaka). A really complete striker. His only stint is I think the only time he is in Chelsea. The best striker in the world at his time (at his peak in Milan). Really admire Milan team when he is in their squad.
Fantastic content. Good luck with everything man. You should consider doing a Michael Ballak vidéo if you got time
His flair could be higher , he was amazing to watch 🔥
He was a awsome player !!!🔥
Do one about Futre please! Obrigado e continua o bom trabalho
Phenomenal stiker.
This channel is something
SHEVA FOREVER! DA BEST PLAYER IN THE LATE 90S AND 1st part of the 00s, DA ONLY ONE WHO WAS (far) better than (today's) overspoken Van Nistelroy and Henry! And the best example, maybe the first and to this day's THE GREATEST EXAMPLE that Chelsea is a GRAVEYARD for top strikers! last example is Werner, who, just like Torres, and all the others who followed Sheva, buried themselves in West London graveyard!
SHEVA 4EVA! FORZA MILAN FOR ALL TIMES!
I don't think Drogba would agree with you.
I hate Chelsea, but Andriy was never going to be a success in England.
It was too late in his career and he moved for money and his friendship with Roman Abramovich
Until the mid-2000s it was a golden age of strikers particularly in Serie A. Crespo, Batigol, Adriano, Vieri, Inzaghi, Montella, Trezeguet, Shevchenko... I can't actually remember many more of them!
My fav striker of that era..
In 2021 kids are saying but he couldn’t do it in prem, a lot of people talk about football without context, I’m so annoyed I have to deal with the fans in this era of football.
U deserve more subs!
Trust me, its coming real quick 💯
The good ol' days of Top 4 Strikers owning the leagues.... Henry, Van Nistelrooy, Ronaldo, and Schevchenko...
Juve fan and I watched a lot of AC Milan matches throughout 2002-06, they were one of the teams you wanted to watch in the CL. And there were 3 of their players I particularly envied and wished they played for my team: Maldini, Pirlo and Shevchenko.
My favorite player of all time!
Road to 10k let's go.
Yess, finally
GREAT 7 🙏❤
Shev is one of my fav players❤❤
Also, please do R9!
i've always loved playing shevchenko on fifa
Please do ”just how good was Jari Litmanen?” 🙏🏻
Sheva the god!
Really good
Bro you are growing fast
I know one who got 100K in a week
a legend
We still love you Sheva 💙💛
Thank you
They need to publish a book about him or put a documentary on him
The guy train almost everyday with the legendary defence line, sparring with the name of maldini and nesta, when come to official match he fight with the opponent who are not better than his sparring partner
Next video Recommendation-Video on tony Adams aka MR ARSENAL
Plzzzzzzzzz🙏🙏🙏
Love your videos BTW
Sheva and R9 are the best strikers in history
In my eyes there the same level
He is my best player from the 60s
He moved to Chelsea at 30, so he passed his peak performance to play in hardest physically league on earth, plus injuries in Chelsea.
I know this is hard but pls Davor Suker
Shevchenko was a great Striker. At Milan he was great and at the time I'd heard about this prolific striker at Milan was coming to my favorite club Chelsea, i was over the moon a couldn't wait to see him in action and then he wasn't as prolific as I'd heard to no fault of his own, Chelsea were a different team ,while at Milan they built a team around him and made him great, Things at Chelsea were different and there were some selfish players in the team such as Ronben and Mourinho wasn't going to start him ahead of Drogba so his game time was limited but you could tell he was a excellent player some of his goals and assists was amazing, also i remember playing football manager and the first team i picked was A.C Milan with him in it ,but also the team around him Inzagi,Pirlo,Guttuso,Maldini,Dida,Seedorf,Cafu and other great players!!
Henry a failure in Italy but great in a then weak PL . Sheva ruled Italy and Europe.
Don't disrespect Henry like that
@Martyr X just admit you hate Henry cos he's black
@Martyr X Racist
@Martyr X lol
@Martyr X I just get really pissed off when people disrespect Henry
Sheva took a pk against Liverpool, missed and his career (and play)was ever the same. At the time Drogba was not a better player than Sheva, but there was nothing in his performances to suggest he should start. Leaving Milan really affected him although he said it was good for his family
Do a videos on ruud gullit please👍
Do Roy Keane next please
I wouldn’t say Fall.. at the end he was the best striker in Europe from the age of 22 to 30. Then injuries hold him back.. if you think about it.. he was just done. Most great strikers from the 80s to early 2000s after age of 30 they were all done. Different built, different diet, different training etc.
Now it’s normal for strikers to be good even up to the late 30s but before best strikers were done by that age..
Man have an superhero origin story
Iniesta!!!!! Plzzzz
Could you do one on Samuel Eto’o please?
Please do a video on Michael Essien
Next can you Please do Mané Garrincha
Damn just dam
Could you do a video on Henrik Larsson?
Why did you show German soldiers in the beginning?
My Everything! Literally sat he'd football and hacked to watch him play. The Eastern wind. Oh my! 🚨🚨
demon from the east
You need a sound track like Raymar
hello can you do drogba
Awesome player shame he didn't come to the premier league and smash it
The thumbnail though WTF!! 🤣🤣🤣
whats wrong with it?
During his prime he was untouchable the best in the world no doubt about that am an Ac Milan and Arsenal fun too but I can tell you for sure during his prime not even t Henry could match up to his level
Bro you gotta do Zidane
Fucking really good.
Can you do a goat pyramid
bro next is Paul Scholes.
Its sounds like you're disrespecting him(Paul Scholes) because you had made videos about Xavi, Xabi and Beckham but not Paul Scholes.
Paul Scholes is a player who got a lot of praise from Ronaldinho("who taught him how pass like that") to Xavi ("The only regret i have is not being able to play along side Paul Scholes") even Manchester United dressing room ("Paul Scholes in both training and match he is the best") zidane when ask "how does it feel to be the best Midfield" then he answer "I Don't know you have to ask Paul Scholes".
so please bro next is paul Scholes
❤🖤
Make a video about Ronaldo Nazario
Probably only behind Thierry Henry and Brazilian Ronaldo in his prime
His first march with ac milan VS lazio, 4 - 4 and sheva score 3 gol
Peak Sheva was near unplayable... it wasnt like his style of playing needed figuring out or a specific way to defend against. When opponents played AC Milan and saw Sheva on the team sheet... defenders knew what was coming... a striker with power and merciless finishing
You have to do Garrincha, Romario, Socrates, Bican, Weah, Romario, Yashin, Blokhin and other greats that people tend to forget. I didn't like the low rating of Ibrahimovic, but it shows you are strict and don't give points out for nothing. Only some categories are not as important and that should be considered.
Another player I have had the privilege to watch at chelsea. I get where you theory comes from re his time at chelsea but I’m not so sure.
For me I just got the impression he was on a bad streak of luck. His quality and skill was among the best I have ever seen. He was shooting from everywhere and was doing the work to put himself in positions. For some reason the ball just didn’t go in more often than not. Maybe he just didn’t fit the system and couldn’t get a flow on with it. I don’t know. He wasn’t game changing there but you could see his quality when on the ball. I think it just didn’t fit for him. Not necessarily need regards to his ego and being the “prince” or star man but maybe in regard of how the team played and whom it was built around. He just was never a player that was going to fit that system unless content with working the wings and defending. Like telling a dog to be a horse. It wasn’t him. It was a boss purchase not a manager one. And it’s like having gold when the currency is silver (not a reflection to take too deeply) .
I don’t think it was a battle of sorts other than with himself and being unhappy. Jose and Roman on the other hand was and maybe a picking point for Roman was “making” the worlds best striker fit in the team and can’t the others “build” around him?
I think it was more one of those issues.
Do how good was Jari Litmanen🇫🇮🇫🇮
Is there a back story to the WW2 begining ?
He was a skillful and always dangerous all-around striker but by far not the same level as Van Basten,Ronaldo or Henry.
And before his injury where did he and van bastendo play? Give you a clue it’s not England
@@youtubeyoutube936 Where did they play,i don´t know, that´s so difficult,Major League Soccer maybe?
Italy whereas Henry had English defences to deal with
Sheva indeed was never at the same level as Henry - he was higher and got a Golden Ball while Henry is still waiting for his.
@@youtubeyoutube936 We can argue that Italian defenses were the hardest ones. But Ronaldo was, may be, the best player ever, when he could play. Shevchenko had his good years but not long enough. I mean, he had great years with Dynamo and proved on international level that you can be great and play in Dynamo. But many people think, if it is not a western club, you have not done enough. Depends how you look. In the top clubs you are surrounded by best players and if you work hard enough, you may even do something.
Was beckham over rated or under rated chief next plz chief
Wtf, Cristiano Ronaldo has a higher ranking than Cruyff and Maradona? You’re not serious. Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t even come close to the original Brazilian Ronaldo.
He's pretty good though
Yeah as good as he project are his ranking is very awful
He even give nistrlooy something like 7 ball control
Nistrlooy most of his goals shows he have the best ball control I have ever seen aside from zidane
His project very well put together but his ranking is laughable
He never fell
You know how they say - opinions are like assholes, everyone has got one...
Soon to be forgotten comment
One of the greatest striker ever.
And imo better than CR7
