    I totally agree! Over the last 6 weeks, I had the chance, (thanks to a hometown music store owner), to spend 2 weeks each with LINE 6 POD HD PRO, LINE 6am POD X3 PRO and LINE 6 POD HD PRO X. Now 2 weeks isn't a long time to spend with these units but it gave me a good idea, to find out which unit could excell at the parameters I wanted or if a unit couldn't do tasks I needed to have performed. As a songwriter who was a lead vocalist before I was a competent guitarist, I tend to look at guitar gear in general from a different light. All 3 units are excellent peices of kit and depending on your needs, your sure to find it within these rack-units. For myself, LINE 6 POD X3 PRO had all the tools for constructing excellent production values while writing original music. Plus I'm still getting wicked hard and heavy guitar tones! I also have a LINE 6 VETTA II Full Stack that i still love and i find the VETTA and POD X3 PRO have similar user interfaces. Our bands lead guitarist runs LINE 6 POD HD PRO X and it's very cool to hear two similar but different guitar tones while performing. I'm powering the X3 PRO with an older but still killer PEAVEY - PV 2.6C - PROFESSIONAL STEREO POWER AMPLIFIER, 130w per side. So, my choice to purchase in 2018 is the. POD X3 PRO .

    I had this rack, sold it 2 years ago, and for some very strange reason even thou i dont find their amps to sounds good at all, effect section was amazing. I feel like i miss a lot of without having it. Wah wah was amazing from my recollection, chorus was not too shabby either, and as you said piezo is very effective.

    Nice, recently sold my axe fx ultra as I'm broke! Will be picking up one of these to go with my mesa 50/50, reckon it will make a decent rig. For live use, I've found that the limitations of the PA, sound guy, and room acoustics will alter your tone far more than the difference in performance between the axe fx and an older modeller, at least in the smaller venues I play. And most people in the audience don't care anyway!

    • @rhitosparsha
      @rhitosparsha Před 6 lety

      +GeorgeSandle To be honest, this unit's weakest part are the cab simulations. The amps are quite good.
      So as you're using a good power amp and cab setup, it should sound great!

    I still have my X3 pro, I skipped on the 500hd because as a recording interface the 500hd dropped the bass pres the vocal pres and the acoustic guitar pres . I'm considering buying a helix only because it has a looper and I like the harmony guitar plus it what 15 years newer maybe 10 but I paid almost 800 for my Xperia pro there only worth about 3 to 4 hundred and I still love it as a recording interface. I love the bass pres. I play guitar, bass and Roland TD 30 electric drums. This is incredible to run your drums through too. I wonder why line 6 decided to drop this all in one concept ?

    They are great. Though, I have to say I've always been frustrated tone wise. Software (I have them all), Eleven Rack, X3 Live I finally went back to heads and got a Two Notes Reload.
    I don't know exactly how to say it. I always felt the EMU heads were (haven't tried Kemper yet), missed something in the low and low mids and the upper end seemed "disjointed". Whether it was a little too "snowy" or very "blocky".
    So I always felt disappointed. I think the IRs for the cabs like Two Notes or Rosin Digital are really where it is at.
    I've heard "yes" to AXE and "hell NO" to AXE. I've only heard "yes to Kemper". That seems to be the MAIN goto. However, I like to experiment and running with a head and IR's sound so much better.

    I still use the X3 Pro, I bought the HD Pro X about 2 years ago and I had the Axe FX II from my band mate, I tested all 3 for 3 days using the same emulation amps (ENGL and Mesa Treadplate), through headphones and through a Carvin power amp and a Laney 212 cab, the result kind of shocked me, the X3 Pro was the best by far, there's more bite and punch to it, the HD Pro X and the Axe FX sounded more like amps with a lot of mid and no punch, now in 2019 I'm still searching for a replacement to the X3 Pro if there's really one, I guess the Kemper would be the answer to that, I'm even considering getting a second X3 Pro just in case. X3 Pro sounds exactly like the Vetta 2, and Vetta 2 is the best amp Line 6 have ever made. I eventually returned the HD Pro X to Thomann the same week. I have used valve heads and valve preamps in the past and the X3 Pro is still my favourite, it's also a cracking recording interface and it weights nothing.

      Zinzer Munch I’m looking modeling and im considering the X3 pro. The bean model can also achieve the sounds in the vid as well I believe.

    You mean this X3 can rival today's mid priced amp /fx sim (Bias, Revalver, etc..)

      Having owned both for a long time go with 11 rack, the line 6 is great but the 11 rack to me just sounds better in every area

    I was thinking of buying a POD X3 Pro used. My plan is to put it together with my Peavey 6505 with the 4 cable method, giving me a digital clean channel. i wondered: is it possible to get some good TesseracT/ Periphery/ Architects like clean-ambient sounds out of this unit? And if so how would anyone do about this? (I was thinking of something like this czcams.com/video/-RwEyRi6J-0/video.html or this czcams.com/video/J0OI-VsMwSE/video.html)
    Awsome videos man, keep it up!

      @MilianMalivukMusic  Před 6 lety

      I think that is doable :) The X3s cleans are bonkers. You even have a Piezo simulation that gives you a awesome glassy tone with single coil! For the TesseracT-ish clean I'd recommend to use a pitcher (shift one octave higher/lower with a 50% mix) and some delay and it should be it ;)

      Does the X3 feature a pitcher?

      +Kilian Wagnerberger I think so?

      The first two Tesseract albums were recorded using a POD XT (don't know which variant). Since the X3 models are quite similar, achieving Tessetact-ish clean tones shouldn't be a problem.
      As +Soulhenge said, you'd need a pitch shifter and some delay. However, one main thing about their clean tones is that there is *no* cab simulation, which helps in getting that really glassy tone.
      If you want purely ambient tones, check this video out:
      czcams.com/video/YQeNzyUcgQ4/video.html
      Hope that helps!

      +Kilian Wagnerberger Yes, it has a pitch shifter. It's called "Bender". It's located under the Stomp section.

    you must have done a lot of post-processing snce your mixing sounded really good, but the raw samples of x3 tone were painful to listen

    • @MilianMalivukMusic
      @MilianMalivukMusic  Před 6 lety +1

      Not in my ears. I didn't mix a lot, probably just a low cut on the EQ and slight compression. If shit is getting in, shit is also coming out so it can't be that bad.

    Harsh and clicky chug sounds, cheesy acoustic simulations...basically you get what it is: a old piece of gear that shows all of its age. Not to mention the lack of dynamics in anything but square wave rectification of the signal. There's a reason why this is not the current state of technology, why Helix and the like are around and why anyone should stay away from this ear-piercing monstruosity unless the cacophonic tone is sought after for precise creative intents.
