Today we continue our Misadventures into Mardi Gras 2024! On the parade slate today is the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale! This parade is a showcase parade for New Orleans African American women! The Glamor on display is second to none. Their signature some kissing lips, and they throw everything from inflatable balls, all the way to their one and only compact make-up mirror as well! The Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale was founded in 2013. Femme Fatale is the first krewe founded by African American women for African American women, but all women are welcome. The Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale parades on the traditional Uptown route the first Sunday of Mardi Gras season. There are also a number of community service projects associated with the Krewe, most notably, "Say Yes to the Prom Dress," which gives away prom dresses and more to teenage girls.
Cherchez La Femme is a dance krewe comprised of members that belong to Femme Fatale. They are forty members strong and perform choreographed dances in parades. They have also appeared in PJ Morton's New Orleans Girl video, the Krewe of Boo Parade, the Krewe of Jingle Parade and Pelicans' home games.
Future Femmes and Le Jeune Femmes are made up of girls ranging from 7 to 20 years of age. Because MKFF is more than a Mardi Gras Krewe, mentoring this group of girls is one of the many ways we give back to the community. In addition to participating in the annual MKFF parade, they take part in other activities throughout the year such as mother daughter tea, sip N paint, skate parties, compact decorating, and umbrella decorating.

Hiya, first of all thank you for watching all our videos! Now to answer your question. The truth is that some Krewes like Endymion and a few others have their original floats. Some Krewes have a few original signature but not a whole fleet! The fact of the matter is that most krewes rent floats from one of the Local Float Builders! It is a way to keep the cost lowered and a little bit of recycle and reuse going on there!

Question: it didn't look like they were covering their faces as much, but still had masks and wigs on. Is there a rule about people on the floats having to keep their faces covered if they are throwing beads and stuff? I can't remember where I heard that... Thanks!
The rule really is just keeping a masquerade type mask on. As long as you have one of those on, you wont be afoul of the rule! The rule is real though, just a little bit more laxed than what you think! Thank you again for watching! Keep on watching!
