From the Silver Age on, the P comes before the T. The two spellings reflect Earth-One and Earth-Two realities. Yet another thing the Crisis on Infinite Earths messed up.

Modern-day Lois Lane (in the comics) is pretty ballsy. She's married to one of the most powerful men on the planet, but she never shrinks away from challenging authority and taking risks to tell big news stories.
I can see why Golden Age Superman was attracted to 1940's Lois as she's assertive and independent. In the Superman Animated series they pronounce Mxy's name as "mix-yes-spit-lick" which is how I pronounce the name of this character.
Note that there are two different versions of the imp. The Golden Age was Mr Mxyztplk (pronounced mix-yez-tip-lick), and the Silver Age was Mr Mxyzptlk (pronounced mix-yez-pit-lick). I learned the pronunciation at an early age, from the letters page in an 70s Superman comic
I used to read as many of the Golden Age stories as I could, getting the hardcover collected editions, and those characters were more 'modern' than the Silver Age versions. The most wacky thing about Lois were her hats! To switch things up, isn't there a Silver Age story (or stories) where Superman marries Lori Lemaris? Was being single in the 50's and early 60's as much a problem as fighting crime?
1:40 I love that cover, hah ha ha. It looks like Lois has accidentally made muffins that are so hard and heavy that one hurt the Man of Steel. It reminds me of Olive Oyl's baking shattering Popeye's and Bluto's teeth. Poor Lois!
I didn't know this story. Thanks! Great to see the difference between Golden Age Lois and Silver Age Lois. On a side note, in Grant Morrison's run on Action Comics in the New 52 he had Mxy being a more heroic but still mischievous figure and successfully courting the princess daughter of the King of the 5th Dimension before being betrayed by a rival. The Princess escaped to Earth and ended up being a young Clark Kent's landlady in Metropolis. (Explained in Action Comics vol 2 #15 but being Morrison it is a bit crazy and may not make much sense without the reading the comics before - and even then!)

Dang it's so refreshing to have golden lois, she's practically my ideal lois lane.
