    Got a call from a private investigator regarding early product sales (not me) but someone I had just had a conversation about selling bulk to that apparently was selling early.

    I wonder if they're reducing the print run to cope with falling demand? Or alternatively, demand might be so high they have to cut allocations to give everyone at least something?🤔

    Mason - no hate - I just gotta know/always wondered - why do game stores sell there shelf items for more than online prices? Why should I pay $65 for a 151 ETB vs $55 online? $35 online for a PR ETB vs $50 on your shelf?

    • @Ketonomics
      @Ketonomics Před 4 měsíci +2

      That’s a silly question. Mason has people to pay, rent to pay. He provides play space at zero cost in his store.

    • @schultzhsaker20
      @schultzhsaker20 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@Ketonomics I guess I should rephrase the question - why should I as a customer pay more to buy at a local game store for these things? Again - I don't mean this disrespectfully - I'm just looking for a good argument to spend more money?

    • @Ketonomics
      @Ketonomics Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@schultzhsaker20 it’s not a bad question. If you have a local shop, where you play, it benefits you to buy local. You don’t have to buy every single thing there of course. If you don’t want a local shop to exist, then buy online and play at your kitchen table.

      I've done lots of videos on this topic - short answer is that I do not compete with online stores. People are in my store and want to buy from me. They don't have to wait, worry about shipping, worry whether or not I'm a trusted seller. Convenience is a large part, but customer service, supporting small businesses, browsing other things and products at the same time, giving away promos and freebies that Pokemon sends me - there's lots of reasons people buy from a game store. I'm not interested in selling my products for nothing (or even to lose money). Most sealed product buyers are casual consumers, buying on impulse or infrequently so that the price is irrelevant (within reason).

      I personally look online for better deals. But hey if I’m ever in a store that sells Pokémon I’ll buy something for a few bucks more since I’ll be getting it at that moment and not waiting a week for it to arrive in the mail. What also convinces me to pay more is the fact that I am not buying a whole lot of product at a higher price so an extra $5 at that moment doesn’t hurt. And shopping local supports your neighborhood businesses.

    When is Whatnot Robsinchi going to get caught?
    He's been doing it for years. I think if he doesn't get it super super early. I believe he drives out to the printing facility or something. So unfair.
    My warehouse gets it 2 weeks early sometimes. But we do things correctly.
    Rob gets it like 2 weeks & 2 days early on the dot every time.

    I think the reason is that game store have been involved in shady dealing like selling prize packs, van gogh pika ect.... and not things like whatnot & streamers. If anything the small business is better for both the Comunity & Pokemon over game stores not to say that there aren't some bad eggs in the streamer Comunity because there are just to be clear

    What is happening is simple. Market is bullish on all investable assets. Pokemon and other tcgs are taking advantage of the market sentiment and trying to keep hype with their value by tightening the orders. Just taking advantage to make them look more investable
