Many of the Southerners are Scots Irish who just wanted to be left alone until the American revolution rolled around.....we ultimately do not like being told what to do or how to live.....by anyone including the government. By contrast the NY City types have never seen a government overreach they didn't like....the urban vs the rural is a study in contrasts....that song is an example....that artist in that setting is an example.

@@patrickyoung2117 , I've never heard of the saying that only country folks have ingenuity.
I live in the backwoods of the Ozark Mountains of Southern Missouri. My family has been here since before the war of Northern Aggression, on the same section of land. I've got a shop, dozer, tractor, a couple 4 wheel drives. Everybody out here welds and such. I have no doubt city folks are ingenious too, but I think people who have roots in rural America generally are more resourceful. No parts stores close by and such, less money generally.
Oh yeah I love the old stuff too! Hank Sr, and my Momma is named after Patsy Cline.

Yes that is true I like hank jr but I think waylon jennings had the best voice vocal range vocal delivery and vocal control but hank jr is right there with jennings both were very talented gifted artists and their songwriting abilities were off the charts both were extremely good and very very consistent with every live performance both waylon and hank jr sounded the same when it was a live performance or doin it in a recording studio for a record album not many can sound better live than on a record but both did ... but nothing against hank jr but I think waylon jennings was and is will always be the king of country music I love waylon he's my favorite #1 artist who has ever picked a guitar and sang a song, waylon jennings had that heavy hard hitting rock n roll sound mixed up with a little bit of country thrown in and waylon playing lead guitar while also singing at the same time and waylon's unique voice style and sound which was his trademark that unique original sound he created himself personally waylon jennings had it all but hank jr like I said was not anybody to look over jr was very very successful in his music career he was a hard worker and he made his type his style of country music that he wanted to make just like waylon jennings did so my hats off to the 2 of em... great job men !!! 👏 👍

Wow! What a performance! This song comes to an end on a high, soaring note that would challenge anyone's vocal chords, but Hank hits that high note powerfully. It's a declaration of defiance and pride and Hank sings it bravely and with full conviction. He genuinely believes in these lyrics. You can hear it in his voice. A country boy CAN survive and he is living proof of it. His life has been one of surviving and overcoming tragedy. He had a near fatal accident that fractured his skull in multiple places and could have easily ended his career, but not only did he survive this tragic event, he came back stronger than ever and made a triumphant return to country music. It takes resourcefulness and inner strength to do what he did. He's a country boy with real courage. That's why he can sing this song with authority - because he has lived it.

Sonny died and Cher started hating half of us and we still loved her! Loved Bette Midler in the "Rose" and then she started hating half of us! De Niro--wow! So hard to understand. Always loved Whoopi--and she knows it--but hard to tell on her. We do not even watch their movies anymore because of their outspoken feelings on conservatives! Conservatives are fans too! So sad!
