- 3 year old Joshua Tan, playing one of the Twinkle variations, at his first Suzuki soloists concert! At St Nicholas Church, Kenilworth on 22 May 2014. He was the youngest performer and kicked-off the concert (& thus didn't know how to introduce his piece). He was actually really excited and enthusiastic about performing. Please watch till the end before commenting, thanks. You make us proud, sweetheart... well done, love you to bits. Credit goes to his wonderful, gorgeous teacher, Kristal Adamson, thanks so very much. Thanks to Anne Ransford for accompanying on the piano. Also thank you to the musical Chan Family in Surrey, B.C, Canada as well as the Siew Family in Malaysia for being Joshua's inspiration.
I even liked how cute his cheek got squished with the instrument. Played so well little Joshua.

I'm in 7th grade and half of the children in my strings class couldn't play this, so this little guy is absolutely awesome to be able to play this so good at such a young age!
stuff like this is a great warmup! my class as well, i’m a violist and my stand partner can’t do this nor can he count to three.
there’s a difference between being a great compliment or simply the comparison is bad
i dont even know how to play any instrument
Bro I love his stomps at the start, lil man knows he's good.
it's incredible how at such a young age he is able to recognize his mistakes and fix them, he kept on adjusting his fingers to play the right pitch
Yeah that was beyond impressive. So derpy and cute like a normal 3 year old but then they put his little hands on the instrument and he was perfect. Too cute and amazing. 3?!! ❤😂🎉😢
I'm a childcare assistant working with Kids age 1-3. It's really amazed me to watch his finger work. This is not easy.
Hmph.. I can do better than him. People don't call ME incredible for it
That's why we called him to "ginious"
Hmm i couldn't even talk at three. Apparently I'm a bit slow lol

This just made my day, SO sweet, loving parents and a patient teacher. And his sense of pitch and rhythm is remarkable at this age.
As a violinist of 15 years and a part time violin teacher I must say this is absolutely wonderful for his age. He'll get to be around 10 and everyone will know who this kid is. Wow.
It's the Suzuki method, a lot of kids this age play as well
I think he is already 10 since this video is very old
Not obligatory, at 3 I played such pieces on cello, at 10 I played Bach Suites but wasn't known at all. Some Asian kids have to practice way more than I did though but yeah...
but, he won't have any friends..
@@michaelhawk-fitz7563 assuming the parents keep him well-rounded, that's not necessarily true. Especially if he plays violin in music class at school, he'll have like-minded peers. At least in theory - I'm no parent, so I don't know for certain

Instead of teaching babies skills most parents just let their babies be babies. It takes time to teach at that age and they won't fully understand it till older. Some kids grow up and liked the attention, some resent it as they thought the parents controlling. If the parent also played and the child inquisitive, it is more natural and then imitation is a part of growing up anyway. When it is a parent child shared hobby, it helps with bonding and enriches their lives. Parents making kids do what they always wanted to do themselves but never did often hurts the kids.
@@Skitdora2010 If you want your kids to learn a skill, why not learn with them? It is so easy to be totally misguided and detrimental as a parent when raising a kid from so young to play the instrument
@@Skitdora2010 Kids grasp information more easily than when they're are older usually. So it's not a crime to have them explore their interests young. And by the time they're older, they'll already have really good skills. And yeah, as long as they're not being forced or projected on.
My grand daughter was playing this when she was 4. She loves her violin and has never had to be pushed to practice. Now she will soon be 18 and she’s planning to major in music at college. It’s a joy to have watched her learn and progress. This little boy is delightful!

My goodness this is incredible! At 3, he sounds like a professional. He must be extremely intelligent for his age; at 3, kids are learning how to speak/walk and behave and this kid can already play the violin and that too so professionally and he’s so young.
What the heck? He knows all the techniques and everything and corrects himself and this is how he sounds solo. Oh my goodness! Wow! I have no words; I am blown away. I teach and I am struggling to get this 3 year old girl to listen and follow instructions and behave and be respectful, and look at this kid. This came up as a video to watch after I finished with listening to another music thing on CZcams. This kid is going to go places and go very far. Imagine how he’ll be when he’s a little older

The fact that he is better than most of my classmates, who are 4 times his age right now if he was still 3 years old, at violin is just amazing.
Hes more in tune

The playing is wonderful. Looked like he wasn't quite prepared to go on stage with an audience just yet. A lot of people might freeze in front of an audience at age 3. Congrats...
I used to type up the monthly programs for Suzuki concerts in our area - all children were expected to attend - either to perform or to be the audience. I remember one program had a little girl’s name and her piece was listed ‘a bow’. She was 3 years old and had just started the program and so this was going to be her first performance - and so on concert day her parents put on her Sunday best, put her hair in pig tails and she waited for her turn - she was introduced - got up - walked to the stage, right in front of the piano - turned to the audience - and bowed. She received her applause and then returned to her seat. That was her performance! And over the years, I had the privilege of watching so many children share their music language. Time practicing music, performing music, sharing music is never wasted!
@@s.lamarre9420 In my younger days I had music lessons for a few years but my teacher didn't organize recitals. I never had the opportunity to perform for my parents.
My parents were demanding. They listened to the kids practice and expected us to sound like performers on radio before we'd go on stage.
