"In the Cave of the Mountain King" - a composition from the suite by the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg to the play "Peer Gynt" by Henrik Ibsen. The premiere took place on 24 February 1896 in Oslo. The composition is the most famous and recognizable work of Grieg and one of the most popular classical tunes. It is quite popular these days.
In the play, this composition sounds at the entry of the mountain king and his trolls into his throne cave. Thanks to this, as well as its sound, "In the Cave of the Mountain King" is associated with trolls, as well as with mysticism and a mysterious atmosphere in general.

The youngest and yet he won. Even the judges were smitten and so were the audience. This boy is really phenonemal. At age of 6 his fingers dancing on the piano keys beautifully with accuracy and his face calm and confident. And for one so young this piece was not easy and performing with a full orchestra ... Elisey clearly showed his ability to integrate so well. I liked the way he would glance at the orchestra to make sure he was with them and that he was in contriol.
Playing this piece requires so much energy and passion and Elisey did very well like a professional. I've seen in another video where he performed this when he was only 7 yrs old and he performed it with so much passion and energy that he just stood up towards the end bcoz the piano seat kept moving backward with each movement of his body.

I would sell my soul for half his talent. Playing from memory.
It is not really that hard for someone to play a long piece from memory, the hard part is playing it and playing it well (by that I don't mean making no mistake (which is only a part), I mean playing it will a decent style, not just tapping the keys but playing the piece with emotion, sometimes slow, sometimes fast, sometimes loud or silent, using the right pedal at the right time, waiting or not and it goes on..).
You better get down to the crossroads.

but i can understand for laymans it seems hard
Okay so it might not have been perfect to the very last note, but I can tell Elisey was certainly having the most fun on that competition. And the fact he's already brave enough to embrace the eyes of an audience of that size with his melodies and not get intimidated by 'In the Hall of the Mountain King' at the age of 6 years old says so much more than only the notes he's been pressing. Sometimes emotion doesn't only spring forth from just our faces, our actions, our moods or the way we express ourselves through activities. Sometimes it's all of those combined. So I'd say this performance was a one of a kind, and i hope you'll have many more good times out there, walking the road of a piano with every step pressing the keys of what you love doing!

Another Mozart in the making, I hope he's allowed a childhood 🙏.
Some children are denied the childhood of their dreams because people assume they want to play with toys all the time. Some children play with ivory keys and love it. Some children begged and pleaded to be able to play the piano that was banned to them, because they weren't 4 years old or older. Many music teachers refuse to take any child that is 2 or 3 years old, refusing to even take the prodigy who can sit down and hear a classical piece once and then play it. Those teachers and those naysayers are wrong. Prodigies need to do what they love and want to do. OTOH, I do understand how some parents push the child to have talents in areas they aren't interested in. I'm sure this child loves what he does and wants to be here.
